[NPC] Rina From: An anonymous benefactor Message: 'Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor Flame and fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction of Frozen ice Is also great And would suffice.'

[NPC] Rina From: An anonymous benefactor Message: Your heart missed a beat and your body Froze, statue still. You had heard the sound of a footstep behind you and the chilly air of someone breathing by your ear; but when you whirled around, there was only empty air behind you. Eventually, you turned away, feeling unnerved. Despite the absence of anyone nearby, the hair on the back of your neck stood tall and the place between your shoulder blades ached from the weight of being watched.

[NPC] Rina From: An anonymous benefactor Message: This must have been a dream. You knew it must be so, but it felt so real. You were not sure how exactly you came to be at this place. Well, that was not entirely true. A hand had slipped into your hand and led you here. The entire passage was a murky blur in your mind.
It was so very, very cold...
Your pajamas might as well be non-existent for all the good they did to help keep you warm. The cold air numbed your skin as if your entire body were buried in snow. Your bones ached from the cold, your throat was frozen silent, and even the beats of your heart began to slow from this deadly, cruel chill. Your body shuddered as it attempted to regain some heat and a cloud formed just beyond your lips as your breathed.
Around you, the world was dead. Like the final attempts of a dying man as he reaches out to the living for help, black withered trees with gnarled and twisted trunks reached out towards you with crooked branch hands. Dead rotting flowers and brown broken leaves littered the ground. The mud from the soft earth was already beginning to devour them. Green grass broke free from the thick mud in patches as it struggled to survive being pulled under. Even then, the grass appeared to be trampled down by walking feet.
Pure black shadows silently watched from all around you. The sun was just on the verge of its own death. Its bright orange blood spread across the normally blue sky before deepening into crimson the farther you looked and then deepening even further into black in the distance. A black crow cried out as it flew through the dead land as it hunted for safety. In thirty minutes or so, the sky would turn black and then those of the night would begin their hunt.
You were not sure where you were going, only that the invisible hand drew you deeper into this dead forest. You still were not sure if this was a dream or not. You continued to walk and walk in this silent realm. Eventually, you found the entire world to be dark. You had not been aware of the change; it just seemed to happen. In truth, you were having a difficult time focusing or thinking about any at all. You felt like the moments between sleep and full consciousness; you were aware of what was around you, but true thought seemed impossible.
A crescent moon smiled slyly above. Fog began to creep through the trees like wanderers searching for a way home. Grey, crumbling tombstones surrounded you as you continued to walk pass them. There were so many of them. Some were shaped like crosses, others the more traditional shape. The tombstones were different sizes and shapes. All loomed silently above the ground. Statues littered the graveyard as well; Angels and children seemed to make the majority of them. They gazed at you with lifeless judging eyes as you walked by them. The hair on the back of your neck stood up and an invisible weight fell across your shoulders. The air around you was thick with the heavy presence of the dead. Not even the crickets or the birds dared to cry out here.
A soft glow began to form in front of you. With it, came the appearance of a person. White hair and white dress. Light blue eyes behind a silver mask. You knew this person: Phantom. Her pale hand was ice cold to a point that it burned. Your entire body felt Frozen. But despite the chill, despite the pure coldness of the Phantom's hand as she led you deeper into the cemetery, you could not pull away or stop walking. A slow panic crept into your mind as you realized this. What was happening?
As if hearing your internal strife, the Phantom glanced back at you. Her eyes...were difficult to decipher. There was something wrong with them, with her. The small smile she gave would have Frozen you in place had you been in control of your body. This was wrong. The entire situation was terribly wrong.
"I know there to be a man who fancies and stalks you," the Phantom began, navigating you through the crumbling tombstones, "A man in black and with no face. A pity I will have to steal you away from him." She paused for a moment, looking back at you once more, "Actually...Not really. This has to be done after all. Any other outcome simply will not do." The Phantom explained, her voice sounding odd to your ears.
She finally came to a stop in front of a stone mausoleum, letting go of your hand, and nearing its metal grated door. The white glow that always emitted from her skin allowed you to see the metal design in the rusted door: A woman weeping into her hands.
You should run. The Phantom was distracted with opening the door. This was your chance. You did not want to stay here anymore. It was so cold, you whispered silently. Your body refused to move.
The metal door shrieked and moaned, a sharp sound that made you want to cover your ears, while the Phantom pulled it open. A breath of stale, rotting air blasted from the black abyss that was revealed when the door was opened and it temporarily warmed your Frozen skin. It was a cruel reminder of what the feeling of warmth and comfort was like. The moment the breeze left you, you felt the cold, almost systematically, sink into your bones. Your heartbeat slowed from the purity of this cold. It made you want to scream as the lovely warmth was stripped away from you.
The Phantom leaned against the open doorway, gazing at you with an amused expression. It struck you then that she was fully corporeal. There was not even a faint hint of transparency within her form although her eyes were still an inhuman hue of light blue. Why was she doing this?
"You may have noticed your inability to move. I fear a dreadful and malicious spirit has possessed your body," She frowned with sincerity, but the emotion failed to reach her cold, amused eyes.
"Such harsh words. And after all the fun we have had together." Your lips moved as you spoke, but the voice that came from it was not your own. Your body wrenched to one side and a silent scream filled your mind as pain seared through every one of your fibers. It felt as if something was tearing off of you. Tears blurred your vision as swirling shadows poured out the pores of your skin. A thick, putrid smell made you gag. You fell down to your knees, your body aching with pain. A sob slipped from your voice and your entire body shook from the cold. The pain finally began to ebb; you were in control of your body again. You stare down at the ground, every atom of your body in shock. Your hand, you saw, was a grayish blue. You could not feel or even move it. Frostbite had crept into it, a side effect of holding the Phantom's hand for too long.
"Ah," the male voice stretched the word out with pleasure, "It is good to be free of that confining form." Numbly, you looked up. The shadows swirled in front of you, twisting and curling as they were forced into the shape of a man. The creature turned his head and stared at you. Where his mouth would have been was a dark purple line that turned into a deep crescent smile. His eyes were two purple voids. Those eyes frightened you more than anything else. Looking into them was like looking into the place where night terrors formed. Those eyes held Chaos. Insanity. Darkness. Hate.
The crescent mouth widened as the shadowy man saw the fear Freezing you in place. The shadows that formed his body shook as he laughed, and laughed and laughed, the sound escalating into hysteria. He stopped laughing so suddenly that it chilled your heart. "Now up, my darling. We have a surprise for you, don't we, dear Phantom?" the man said in dark glee. He gripped your arm, the shadows twining around your flesh like a shackle, and forcefully lifted you up.
"Ph-Phantom, what's going on?" You pleaded, turning to the only familiar thing around.
She winked playfully, "We are having some fun. Well, he and I, that is. Shall we go in?" the Phantom motioned to inside the mausoleum.
The shadow spirit dragged you to the doorway, "Fun indeed!" he echoed with excitement, "Phantom, isn't this so much more entertaining than your normal dealings with their kind? It has been ages since we last did this; you and your annoying idea of morality." He patted her shoulder, the shadows slipping from him to her as his crescent smiled turned into a darker hue of purple.
She stiffened upon his touch, but a small laugh of insanity slipped from her lips. She quickly placed a hand over her mouth to hide the laughter for a moment before finally silencing it entirely. Her amused eyes twinkled in the soft white glow from her form.
Your shaky breath left clouds in the air as a few tears slipped down your face and turned to ice. Her eyes. You had seen that expression in them earlier and even in previous encounters with her. It was the one you could not really decipher. You realized what it was now. Insanity. Controlled and accepted if that was even possible.
The shadow dragged your stumbling, fighting form into the darkness. Metal against metal screeched as the Phantom closed the door behind her. The stale, pungent air of the tomb closed in around you. Suffocating you. The slow beat of your heart increased as you screamed and yanked in attempt to free yourself from the shadow spirit's grip.
"Still wish to fight?" you could hear his amused tone, "Good. It's always best when they do." The last part he added with a small wink to the Phantom.
The touch of a shadow cutting into your ankle numbed the entirety of your foot. You stumbled forward and the spirit caught you, his touch as cold as death. With barely any effort, he lifted you onto a small stone table; the area usually reserved for a coffin. You struggled and squirmed as you tried to escape from the stone table.
Click.
The sound made you stop moving. It was like the sound of a guillotine being released. A shackle, rusted and dirty from grime, clamped around your wrist and bound your hand down to the table. Your surprise quickly entered into terror as your second wrist was shackled down. You ankles soon followed.
You sobbed a plea through your Frozen, cracking lips. You tried to pull against the chains, but that only resulted in pain. Pain that soon turned numb from the cold.
So cold...
Time had passed by. You lost track of how long. The chill was eating away at your flesh, at your soul. The Phantom and the shadow hovered nearby. They spoke, but you could not hear them. You realized that their forms were fading away; they were leaving you alone in this place. Darkness blinded your eyes when the soft white glow from the Phantom and the purple eyes of the man finally disappeared.
Silence pressed against your ears making you deaf. Even the putrid smell had vanished. Vanished just like how every feeling in your body was now slipping away from the Freezing chill. You felt Frozen; like the statues outside in the cemetery around you. The only thing left you could feel was the slow, methodic pounding of your heart.
A small flicker of warmth sprung to life in your body. The cold was finally gone from your body and you smiled for a moment. The beating of your heart stopped.
