Excited for the GC summer sale. I really really hope they have loving manner, even though that would totally piss off everyone who has already invested in it.

Quote: The Winchester estate was massive. Towering seven stories high, the mansion held 160 rooms and 13 bathrooms. The surrounding gardens held over 12,000 wood box hedges as well as over 1,500 different types of plants. The estate and gardens rested on a grand total of 161 acres of land.
All of this was made and designed by Sarah Winchester, heiress to the famous Winchester rifle fortune. Lost in grief when her husband and son passed away, Sarah consulted a medium for spiritual guidance. She was told that in order to keep the spirits of those who lost their lives to the rifle her family made, she would have to build a great, intricate house. As long as she never stopped building, the spirits would get lost in the house and leave her in peace. And so, Sarah Winchester had the mansion worked on twenty-four hours a day for nearly 38 years straight until she died of old age.
But why did she have to make the entire house a flipping maze??
You sighed as you stared down another dark hallway of the Winchester house. Fireplaces lined this particular hallway, but were dark and silent. It had been decades since they last saw life. Hesitating for a moment, you began to walk down the hallway. You were completely lost. Now, this was not entirely your own fault; it was because of one loose shoelace and your friend's complete lack of attention that caused this. How could your friend not notice you stop and bend down to tie it? Sure you had been at the back of the group, but still. You had taken one-minute tops, maybe a little bit more since the lighting was so bad, but that was it! One minute and you had lost the tour group.
The Winchester house was notorious for its twist and turns, which had also led to you getting lost. This place was full of secret passageways, doors that led nowhere, and stairways with steps that were only a few inches high. The Winchester house made absolutely no sense. You felt the urge to kick something, but refrained. To make matters worse, you had chosen to go on the night tour. This meant that all the lights were off in the house except for the gas lit lantern the tour guide carried.
You sighed again. Already you had spent ten minutes wandering around in search for the tour, but to no avail. In fact, you were most likely just getting yourself more lost. What was it the authorities always told people? Your thoughts drifted as you tried to recall the information. Ah, that's it. If you get lost you are just suppose to stay in one place. Well, you pretty much screwed that one up.
Turning the corner, you found yourself in another hallway (big surprise) full of doors. Curious, you turned the gold knob handle of the nearest one and opened it. A red brick wall greeted you smugly. Of course. Why did you not see that coming? Anger seethed through you and for a moment you just wanted to scream in frustration. This place was practically a fun house; it was just messing around with you. Slamming the door close, you continued down the hall only to pause again moments later from surprise.
Ahead of you, an arched window showered blue moonlight down the stairway that led to the third story. Sitting at the bottom of the stairs was a person; he stood up immediately, staring at you with equally surprised eyes.
"Uh, hey there." You said, eyes still wide.
He blinked, "Hi. Um...By any chance, do you...work here? I'm totally lost."
Just great. For a moment, you had been hoping he would have been able to help you. Though looking at him now, it was clear he was not an employee. He wore blue work jeans and a casual brown t-shirt. "Sorry, but I don't. I'm actually trying to find the tour group myself," you admitted sheepishly. "It's just this place is so huge!"
He laughed, "You're telling me. I've been wandering these halls for what feels like forever. It does not help that I have a bad sense of direction. This place is like a maze; I always feel like I'm walking in circles."
You nodded, "I know what you mean. I don't even know how many rooms I've gone through."
"Mind if I join you? Two heads are better than one they say. I'm Tyler by the way."
You shook his offered hand and introduced yourself. "I think staying together is a good idea." Leaning so you could look passed him; you gazed at the ascending staircase. "I'm assuming the tour has not gone to the story above, so want to try finding the staircase going back down? At least we'd be on the first story again."
"Sounds good to me."
You chose a random direction and began to walk again. You were less anxious now that you had another person with you. "So how did you get lost? I was tying a loose shoe lace and got left behind." You glared down at your shoe for causing you so much trouble.
"A shoe lace?" He looked as if he were going to laugh, but somehow managed to contain the urge and wisely did not comment on it. "For me, my friends dared me to go off by myself. It was a stupid idea I know, but still." Tyler shrugged.
Entering an open room, the both of you stopped for a moment to stare down at a window that was placed in the floor. Weird. The both of you continued to walk.
"Sarah Winchester was pretty crazy." You shook your head in disbelief as you passed another one of the countless fireplaces.
"Yeah, but she did a good job building this place. I heard from the tour it was suppose to be designed so she could keep evil spirits off her tracks. She could lose them in the complexity of this house. It's like a trap in a way. " Tyler deepened his voice and said dramatically, "Once you get in, you never get out."
You laughed, "True. I mean this house did get both of us lost in it after all." You turned down a hallway that looked slightly familiar.
He rubbed at his temple with a hand, "Yup. Though I can't wait to get out of it. It was fun at first, but now..." Tyler trailed off.
You had to agree with him on this. For awhile, the two of you walked together in silence, both lost in thought.
He was the first to speak again, "Hey is that the stairway?" He pointed up ahead at a small break in the wall. From your angle, you could see a few stairs descending.
"I think so!"
The two of you hurried over to the small stairwell. It was hard to see in the darkness, but the stairs definitely went down. You grinned and immediately started to make your way down. You had only gone about six steps in the enclosed space when your outstretched hands collided with brick.
"This has to be a joke. It's a dead end staircase." You groaned, kicking the brick wall with a foot.
Tyler sighed, turning around, and trudging back up the staircase. "I really do hate this place." He rubbed his head again with a small wince.
"You all right?"
"Yeah. I just have a bad headache. Nothing to big though." He gave you a small thumbs up.
You winced in empathy as you stepped back into the hallway, but your next words were lost when you saw something at the far end of the hall. Tyler frowned at your odd expression and followed your gaze.
"Wow. Really?"
Hesitantly, the two of you walked to the end of the hall and stared down at the descending staircase. The real one. A stream of moonlight shot down and you could see the ground floor.
Rolling your eyes, you said, "Whose brilliant idea was this? A fake staircase only yards away from the real one." You started to walk down, shaking your head in disbelief of this entire situation.
Halfway down, a stumbling noise made you look back to Tyler. He clung to the banister, his eyes wide. "S-Sorry. Lost my footing for a moment there." His voice was a little shaky.
"Careful. It would suck if something were to happen to you here. Then whom would I wander around with?" Your words made him laugh and he shook his head at some amusing thought as you both made your way down without any other incident.
On the first story there were a lot of windows, which made you feel better. The renewed lighting made traversing easier. Meanwhile, Tyler seemed absolutely thrilled to be closer to the exit.
"Worse case scenario, we break one of the windows and climb out." He joked.
You grinned, "I don't think the owners would appreciate that. Then again, it would serve them right for not putting any maps or signs in this place."
A stream of yellow light from an open entrance ahead drew both your gazes. Trading looks with Tyler, you both picked up your pace. The lamp on the front desk shone like the North Star when you both turned the corner and saw it. You had reached the entrance hall.
"Finally," Tyler said with a breath of relief. He was smiling to a point that even his eyes were twinkling. He made straight for the front door.
"Hold up! Shouldn't we wait here? I mean, this is where the tour will be coming back after all." You hollered after him.
He looked back at you, "My tour ended a while ago," he shrugged, "Like I said, I've been wandering around in this maze of a place for a while now. I have a bad sense of direction, remember?" He smiled, but soon grew serious. "Thank you. I seriously don't think I would have been able to find my way out without your help." His face grew sad, but only for a moment. With a renewed grin and small thumbs up, he disappeared outside, closing the door neatly behind him.
You stared at the door for a few seconds, puzzled by his words. Footsteps behind you made you turn to find an older woman approaching. She wore professional attire and you realized she worked here.
She frowned slightly upon seeing you, "Can I help you with something?"
"I...uh," You wished Tyler were here to share the embarrassment, "I got lost."
The old woman's brows knitted together, "You are not suppose to leave the tour group. Wandering around is strictly prohibited."
You winced slightly at her harsh tone, "I'm sorry. It was an accident."
She sighed, "Well, at least you were able to find your way back safely. About five years ago, we had a young man get lost in the house," the employee began to explain, "He slipped and fell down one of the sets of stairs. The poor boy died from head trauma before anyone even found him. It was such a sad tragedy..." she shook her head, "His friends were absolutely devastated by it. Apparently they had dared him to go off by himself."
--- Phantom Anon I've heard of that house. I'd like to be able to take a tour of it one day. It sounds really interesting. Thank you, Phantom. I always appreciate how much time and effort you put into your stories.

Auriga La Shock I'm usually a pretty patient player when it comes to the MP. Sometimes I'll even wait for the item to hit the Exchange. Either way, I'm only at 2.2mil so I have a long while before I can even consider purchasing it. Hopefully by the time I reach the funds required, the price will decrease Yeah. I can relate. When it comes to buying stuff I'm patient. I'd rather buy in the exchange these days. Though, when I'm the one selling, I'm not patient.. lol And I hope too. Maybe if your lucky even, while you're saving it'll decrease down to a price that you can afford without further saving. ^^
