Another year was gearing up. Over the summer, the professors met up as usual to set up some housekeeping tasks, plus discussed all the Prefects and Head Students. Then came time to prepare for another new year. It was always exciting to see the next set of students join into the school. The downfall was that for several of the students she'd come to know, this would be the final year within these castle walls. It was always a bittersweet sort of moment.
But time marches on. Phoebe met the first years at the lake, then walked along with them into the castle. She led them to the Antechamber, where she offered a soft grin as she spoke to the new students. "Alright, my dears. We've made it to the Great Hall. Just on the other side of these doors, you'll find the tables for our four houses. In green is Slytherin, where ambition and cunning are excellent hallmarks. In red is Gryffindor, where the brave and just souls will find their home. Ravenclaw, in blue, is where the creative and intelligent thrive. And in yellow is my house, Hufflepuff, where those who are hardworking and loyal find their way. She sent a smile toward the first years, then, after verifying all the young ones were along, Phoebe waved her hands and the doors to the Great Hall opened wide.
She walked up the center aisle, pausing the First Years at one point before she stepped up to the podium. "Good evening, one and all, and welcome to another lovely year here at Hogwarts. Whether it is your very first day or the last of your opening feasts, I would like to say that I am so very happy to see you all here. Now then, we've got a Sorting Ceremony to get started, then, of course, Headmaster Steele will have a few words." She set out the Sorting Hat, letting it introduce itself as she put on her shimmery glasses and pulled out her handwritten scroll of First Years. Stepping forward to the stool, Phoebe started the Sorting Ceremony in proper.

Everything about this summer, and especially today, was absolutely nuts! First, some lady'd come to the house and said that Jazz was magical, then they went shopping in an invisible alleyway! Who could even possibly think that sort of stuff up?! But then this morning, they went all the way to London to Kings Cross Station. Once there, they realized that they were expected to get to a platform that didn't exist! After getting laughed at by a worker, they finally discovered Mrs Heulwen and got help from her.
After they ran through a concrete pillar (seriously, what would magic folk think up next?), the little family said their goodbyes. Jazz hopped aboard the train with Mr Whiskers. They waved out the windows as the train pulled off. But then came time to make friends! They quickly met a girl named Clover and the two opted to sit together. They talked about how wild everything had been before playing cards. Finally, the train arrived at another platform.
At that platform, the first years were gathered up by a rather grumpy looking fellow, then they hopped in magical, self-rowing boats! Finally, the castle (yes, castle!!) was in view! Another teacher came to fetch them, leading them inside. There were ghosts and moving paintings... but also apparently a giant feast! They were a little worried about the miles of stairs, but that would be fine. Surely there was a lift somewhere too. Then they went into the Great Hall!
The sorting would be done by a magical talking hat, which was just bonkers! Jazz was one of the first called up, though they cringed a little that their government name was used. Walking up to the front, Jazz plopped down, grinning a bit when the hat was set down. "Hey there, Sorting Hat! My name's Jazz. I'd really like it if you could put me somewhere fun. Like... super duper fun! And loud and crazy and awesome! Thanks!"

xxxxx⇾Aʀᴛsʏ Growing up in a super artistic family, Jazz has inherited their parents’ love of art. Sure, they’re not old enough to do some of it alone, but that doesn’t mean they don’t do other kinds of art! They’re very hands-on with life and their creative outlook always shines through!
xxxxx⇾Fʀɪᴇɴᴅʟʏ Despite struggling to talk sometimes, Jazz is a super friendly person. They love having friendly conversation and making friends. It is always good to know you’ve got people in your corner!
xxxxx⇾Cᴏᴜʀᴀɢᴇᴏᴜs Even though Jazz is pretty easily scared, they’re more than happy to face each new challenge head on. They’re pretty used to taking a breath, steeling up, and doing their best against whatever they’re up against.
xxxxx⇾Lᴏʏᴀʟ Whenever Jazz makes a friend, you can count on them to be loyal to the bitter end. They’ll be true and kind the whole way long. Of course, if you break the sacred oath of friendship, it’ll result in a complete and total loss of trust.... plus the “I’m not mad, just disappointed” look.
xxxxx⇾Aᴛʜʟᴇᴛɪᴄ Jazz loves to play sports. They love to move and shake, especially if it is on a team. It’s all the more fun to work together, after all. They’re great at coordinating plays and rallying the players. Thankfully, they’re also a good sport!
xxxxx⇾Sᴏᴄɪᴀʟʟʏ Aᴡᴋᴡᴀʀᴅ Okay, so sometimes it’s pretty tricky to make friends. It’s worse if you have a speech impediment, but Jazz tries not to let that stop them. They’ll try their best and sometimes fail, but at least they tried, right?

So, here he was. Seoirse had had a lovely breakfast with the family that morning, with Caoimhe complaining that she wanted to go along as well. Their parents lovingly explained she'd get her letter in time, but for now, it was Seoirse's turn to shine. They then used the Floo to travel to Platform 9¾ while dad apparated with Seoirse's trunk. He teased that it was heavy, but his eldest son simply explained it was full of books and puzzles, not to mention all his clothing and supplies!
Even though the preteen was ready to go, watching his family wave goodbye through the windows was a bit... sad. He distracted himself on the train with a heavy book on the Goblin Wars, pausing only to eat the lovingly packed lunch his mum had prepared. After a few more hours of reading, they had arrived. The youngest students were escorted to the lake, where they rode rickety boats across the water. Then it was a walk inside Hogwarts Castle proper. After an explanation of the houses, they were led inside. Seoirse had to wait for a fair while until the 'S' surnames before he was finally called up. Straightening his outfit, he walked to the front, chin held high. He knew the Sorting Hat would peruse his thoughts, but he had to admit he was quite curious just how the magic for it worked. Perhaps he'd visit the school library in the morning?
xxx𝓟𝒆𝓻𝓼𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓽𝔂xxx
xxxxx⇾Lᴏɢɪᴄᴀʟ Every problem has a solution, and it’s something Seoirse aims to prove. He will look at all the angles of a problem to solve it accurately. He believes there’s nothing that cannot be solved with cold logic and that adding emotions and opinions is what causes issues to escalate.
xxxxx⇾Sᴛᴜᴅɪᴏᴜs One thing that Seoirse loves to do is study. He loves learning any topic and will frequently read textbooks and skill manuals to increase his knowledge. He is often found taking notes to books, regardless of their topic.
xxxxx⇾Tʜᴏʀᴏᴜɢʜ There is no task left incomplete by Seoirse. He will work a problem or task until he deems them fully finished and perfected. Seoirse isn’t the best at multitasking due to this. He struggles to leave anything incomplete long enough to do other tasks.
xxxxx⇾Iɴᴅᴇᴘᴇɴᴅᴇɴᴛ All through his childhood, Seoirse’s parents struggled with their son’s independence. He never really made friends, instead focusing on the few hobbies they could coax him into. He’s never been one to initiate conversation, and he never minds solitude.
xxxxx⇾Aɴxɪᴏᴜs Despite his logical approach to life, Seoirse is an anxious mess. He’s constantly worried what the future holds and where his place in it all will be. He’s on edge unless his brain is engaged in a task, usually something along the lines of working with his hands.
xxxxx⇾Iᴍᴘᴀᴛɪᴇɴᴛ Seoirse is always an incredibly punctual person. He believes if he’s not early, then he’s late. He has an incredible dislike when people are late, but more so if it becomes a recurring issue. He’s never been one to enjoy waiting on anything in life.
Irmak Knapp Unsorted First Year Sister, Cousin, and Friend of Many

Irmak was beyond excited for Hogwarts, but really the way to get there was nothing to write about in her memoir. A train ride that she had to cram in with others - and worse, Peggy forced herself onto the same bench as Irmak. Of course Peggy just went on and on about how exciting it was to be going to Hogwarts together. Irmak would have much rather disappeared into thin air than have to keep sitting next to Peggy.
Still, whenever she could get away from Peggy - she made sure every passing student knew that she was their future queen bee. She was Irmak, after all. There wasn’t a soul on this train who wasn’t lucky to be in her presence.
When her name was called she practically floated to the stool, her gaze sharp and commanding - she was the center of attention as she always should be. As the hat sat on her head, probing her thoughts, but Irmak was focused on her strategy—this moment had to go perfectly.
"I’d rather be Slytherin - The color would look amazing with my skin and eyes. Green’s definitely my color. I know Peggy gets sorted right after me. Please, just don’t put her in the same house as me. Anywhere but there. If we're in the same house she'll take my spotlight. Again." She waited for the hat to make its final decision.

Peggy missed her mom and dad, but was looking forward to spending the year with her other family. The moment she set foot on the train, she’d seen Irmak must have been waiting for her—saving her a seat, of course. It wasn’t like Peggy ever doubted that her aunt would do anything less. Peggy couldn’t wait to catch up on everything they’d missed during their time apart. And when they climbed into the boats to cross the Lake, Irmak had made sure to save her a spot again—because of course Irmak wouldn't leave her on her own! Irmak was just such a great person like that.
Now, sitting beneath the Sorting Hat, Peggy’s heart raced with excitement. She wasn’t just here—she was going to make her mark. She could feel the eyes of every student on her, and sure maybe they were looking at her and thinking "wow another knapp?" she didn't look too much like her aunts and uncles, and well, she was practically the same age as Irmak...there were probably a lot of questions.
She thought to herself, well to the hat rather, "It would be really cool to follow in the footsteps of my parents, they were both Gryffindor - I don't know if you remember that. BUT It would be the best time ever for me if I was able to be in the same house as Irmak. Irmak was that girl you sorted just before me, she's technically my aunt but she's also one of my best friends. I mean I guess the decision is up to you though."

Clover had been both dreading and excitedly awaiting this day; the day she would leave the grove and travel to the magical school. She had been to Diagon Alley with the governess, but there hadn't been that many people there on that rainy day. But this morning when she was preparing to depart the grove, her mother had warned her that there would be quite a few humans at the platform. Everyone would be there dropping off their children and there would be a lot of people trying to interact with her. When she had been apparated to the platform by the governess, Clover had been hit by the sheer amount of people there. She'd never seen this many humans in one place! The crush of the crowd was intense and she immediately started to feel overwhelmed. Thankfully she had found a place where people didn't seem to be, then made her way onto the train as soon as it was opened. Another girl had joined her and thankfully she seemed to dominate the conversation. Clover didn't really know what humans would want to talk about, but Jazz quickly took control of the conversation. She even introduced her to card games, which helped to relax the crazy torrent of thoughts in Clover's head.
Arriving at the platform, they had been separated from the older students and the lessening crush of people further helped to relax the girl. The boat ride across the lake was relaxing, though a chill in the air made her shiver a little. Walking with the other first years, Clover was amazed by all the sights along with Jazz, even though the half-nymph was quite familiar with the magical side of things. She'd never seen human creations before though, so it was still pretty fantastic. When they arrived at the Great Hall, Clover's breath caught in her throat and she was fixated on the ceiling of the room, amazed at how it reflected the night's sky. She was so fixated on the stars glistening in the ceiling that she almost missed her name being called, but quickly her attention snapped back to the Sorting at hand. She walked up to the stool and glanced around at everyone watching her before she sat down. Once the Hat was placed on her head, she closed her eyes.
xxx𝓟𝒆𝓻𝓼𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓽𝔂xxx xxxxx⇾Friendly Always one to strike up a conversation, Clover can make friends wherever she goes. She's often spotted dancing down the halls. xxxxx⇾Flowery Clover is kind-hearted, loving, and caring and loves to be decorated in flowers. Oftentimes she will find some flowers to make a bouquet to give to her friends. xxxxx⇾Loyal Once Clover considers you a friend, she is there for you through thick and thin. It's hard to shake her faith in her friends and she doesn't have a friendship decay mechanism. You're still a good friend, even if you have spoke in years. xxxxx⇾Confident She exudes an air of "I know what I'm doing". Even if she needs to ask for help, it doesn't take long for that to become something she's sure of. xxxxx⇾Entrancing When she sings of speaks, people often find themselves listening to her. Her voice always comes across as soft and sing-song.

When the lady had shown up at her house on her birthday and said that Hattie was magical, the whole family thought that they were being taken for a laugh. But then she demonstrated actual magic and Hattie was enraptured. Of course Mum and Da were still skeptical and had said they didn't know if they could afford to send her to some special magical school. But they were surprised when they were informed that this school was free, well, they'd have to pay for supplies but room and board were all covered. And of course the demonstrations of actual magic made them believers. So Hattie and her parents had traveled to the magical alleyway and purchased supplies, she'd looked at the magical animals and brooms and stuff, then they'd whisked back home. Hattie had then spent the summer months practically vibrating with excitement, waiting for the day that she could go to the magical school. Her father had departed for a month at sea and would miss her sendoff, so the two shared a tearful goodbye with him reminding her to behave. When the lady had come to collect her for her trip to school, her mother accompanied them along to say goodbye to her daughter. After a tearful embrace, Hattie boarded the train.
And she tripped as she got onto the train. Fell on her face, but thankfully her glasses hadn't broken. The preteen quickly popped up from the floor, grabbed her glasses, and waved at her mom. Then she found herself a place to sit and talked with a bunch of kids who sat with her. She couldn't remember any of their names though, but that was alright. She would definitely see them again since they were all going to be living together for the school year. Her mother had given her some of those weird magical coins so that she could purchase snacks on the train and Hattie had spent them all, sharing her snacks with her new friends. When the train arrived at the platform, Hattie got off with the kids she'd been riding with, then heard someone calling for the first years. She moved with the group and stood, listening to him describe their boat trip. Hattie loved boats! She wondered what kind of boat, what engine it used, and if she could drive it, but then was informed they were propelled by magic and they were just wooden rowboats. But she still enjoyed the trip. When they arrived at the boathouse, Hattie tripped getting out of the boat, but thankfully she was already on the dock and only fell into the wall. A quick "I'm okay!" and they were off. The castle was HUGE! And Hattie was enraptured. Walking into the Great Hall, Hattie remembered a talking Hat was supposed to tell her which House she was going to. She was excited to talk to a Hat, because that had to be weird, right?
When her name was called, Hattie sat on the stool and as soon as the Hat was placed on her head, her racing thoughts took off. "Och, hello there, Mister Hat. Ma name's Hattie, funny, isn’t it? Ah was told ye decide where we go based on ma personality? Whit do ye want tae ken? Ah think ah'm quite funny and full o' energy and aw that. Ah love ta talkin' and makin' friends. Oh, and ah'm pure bursting wi' energy!"
xxx𝓟𝒆𝓻𝓼𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓽𝔂xxx xxxxx⇾Goofy Often called eccentric or odd, Hattie embraced the idea and lives her goofiest life possible. She embraces the strange. xxxxx⇾Energetic Always running around, tapping her foot or moving around, she simply cannot sit still. Also means she has trouble sleeping unless she burns off the energy. xxxxx⇾Friendly She can make friends anywhere and talks a lot. That does mean she can sometimes talk too much and she definitely cannot keep a secret. xxxxx⇾Focused Once she does find something that catches her attention, she focuses in on that one thing in particular. She's been told she's hyper fixating and that she shouldn't do that, but she can't control it. xxxxx⇾Clumsy Hattie is very likely to trip over her own feet but she's very resilient, as long as her glasses don't break. xxxxx⇾Loyal She's the type of person you go to when you need a 'ride or die' friend, just don't expect her to keep any secret you tell. She's not babbling them on purpose... they just sorta slip out.
Now here I go again, I see the crystal visions I keep my visions to myself It's only me who wants to wrap around your dreams And have you any dreams you'd like to sell? Dreams of loneliness
*ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚Anaís was having...a day if you will. She was happy to be going off to Hogwarts but she had kept herself awake the night before trying not to wake the other girls with her tears. Javier was supposed to be here with her and telling her everything about the castle and any secrets he might've uncovered. But now he was no longer by her side and it was all her fault and she had to figure it out everything herself. Getting taken into London with the others had been ok, and the train ride had been sort of enjoyable (she got a good nap in which helped allot). The boat ride that followed seemed a little bit much to her but other than some similar leeriness by the others, no one seemed truly surprised or angered so she figured this was a normal thing as well. Was it always tedious getting to school or was it just a one year thing?
Seeing the castle though had taken Anaís' breath away, it was a thing straight from her imagination. Walking in with the others, she was constantly bumping into someone as her head swiveled always trying to see something else new before they were lead into the Great Hall (THE CEILING?!?!) and announced that they essentially had to let a talking hat decide everything for them. She knew she had a bit of a while so her focus mainly stayed on the amazing ceiling wondering if it would be possible to see constellations and if it accurately showed meteor showers or star strikes in the sky about. Luckily she was brought out of her daze by her name being called and she hastily made her way to the stool slightly sad she wouldn't be able to see the sky for a bit under the hat.
"Hello, are you tired? I'm still kind of tired. I hope that doesn't make it difficult. " Anaís admitted silently to the Sorting Hat. She wondered what he did the rest of the year; maybe he sat on the Headmaster's head like a normal hat? Or as normal as a talking hat could get she supposes.
xxxPERSONALITYxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ANXIOUS Due to her mother’s not-so-helpful actions, Anaís lives in a constant flux that something has happened or will happen and that she’s powerless to stop either. Her perceived lack of control also stops her from telling others of her fears most of the time and only doing so once her feelings are so out of control she’s nearly in the throes of an attack. PERCEPTIVE Anaís has a heightened awareness of her surroundings and can usually take notice of small patterns or even emotional changes around her. This way she can know who to avoid at certain times and who perhaps just needs a cookie or a hug. RESOURCEFUL Anaís knows how to make use of anything within reach to solve her problems, big or small. This also allows her a level of adaptability to her situations so rarely leaves something unfinished for long. NAIVE Never speaking to anyone outside her family for the first seven years of her life really made a mark on her levels of believability. Her brother made sure not to abuse it too often but she’s found everyone else doesn’t share those thoughts. Coupled with her anxious nature, she totters between believing and disbelieving what people tell her but usually ends up following along, sometimes to her detriment. IMAGINATIVE Having never gone to public school or even played with other children besides her brother allowed Anaís to have a very vivid imagination in order to keep from dying of boredom at times. Together with the random visions that sometimes appear to her, she likes to create elaborate stories or game plots to write or play out with toys or now the other children at Wool’s. These stories also can function as a way she can talk about what she’s feeling at a time so Anaís has taken to keeping notebooks with her at all times. CURIOUS Anaís loves learning about..everything. Before Wool’s, she read every child appropriate book at her house and had begun skimming Javier’s school books just to keep busy. Now, she’s constantly asking questions and checking out books in and out of school and usually has to be reminded to finish her homework or essay because she can easily be waylaid by other questions she’s come up with.

xxxxx⇾Lᴏʏᴀʟ Whenever Jazz makes a friend, you can count on them to be loyal to the bitter end.

Irmak Knapp Unsorted First Year Sister, Cousin, and Friend of Many
▬▬"I'mnotheretofitin"▬▬
Personality:
xxxPERSONALITY ESTP-Axxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Attention SeekingIrmak thrives when everyone's eyes are on her. She loves to be the center of every conversation and gets very jealous if someone else tries to take her spotlight. PersonableIrmak is outgoing, charming, and she’s always ready to make new friends—mostly because she knows she’s the best.will do anything to do it. LoyalWhile Irmak may seem like she’s all about herself, her loyalty is unwavering—at least to those she deems worthy of her royal affection. Once someone earns a spot in her inner circle (and it’s not easy), Irmak is fiercely protective and will go to great lengths to ensure they stay in her good graces. To her, loyalty is a two-way street: she expects those who claim her friendship or loyalty to show it back tenfold. EnergeticHer mind is always racing with the next big idea. She can’t sit still for long, which can make her difficult to deal with at times. Easily DistractedIrmak is very much a “oh look a butterfly” kind of person. If something shiny or exciting pops up, she’s off to the next thing without missing a beat. AmbitiousIrmak’s ambition is unstoppable—she believes she’s destined to be queen bee and she’ll do whatever it takes to prove she’s the best. Failure isn’t an option for her; every setback is just another challenge to overcome on her way to the throne.

Raised by her fun-loving, sometimes reckless mother, Lizzie, Peggy thrives on playful chaos, whether it’s harmless pranks or simply getting a rise out of others.
She doesn't only befriend people, but can also easily befriend even the most unfriendly of animals. xxxxx⇾Graceful Whether it's in dancing, walking, or in social situations, she displays a beauty in her movements.

The Professor set the hat down carefully on the student's head. For a moment the hat was silent before speaking.... Well hello yourself! I'm just taking a look around I agree with your assessment And think you'll have much fun in....
Like a heartbeat drives you mad In the stillness of remembering what you had And what you lost And what you had Oh, what you lost
