If it's out of desperation then you'd have nothing against fighting dirty, hitting them with anything you can get your hands on, or anything like that; getting pinned isn't going to end the fight unless it's a KO chokehold.

Or a nice joint lock that they can't get out of.
But the fight's not over with a joint lock. If they can't move, and you won't let go, then you stand there at a stalemate until something happens.
If you break something, it'll hurt like a b***h but they're still there. Sometimes it'll compromise the hold, too.
Fight to the death =/= wristlock.
