they are of the opinion that I am too young to get married, especially to my first serious beau, even if we have been dating for almost 4 years, in October. They are the strict Christian type, and even if we specified it as a long engagement (prolly won't happen for another few years or so) they would try to talk me out of it...-sigh-
*shrugs*
That's a parent's job :p Talk their child out of everything to see if it is really worth it
smile I'd let them know immediately and let the opposition they give be a test to see if it's real (which I have no doubt is).
Heh, When I told my parents about my engagement, they said "Yeah, we figured. What took you so long?" ^.^;; Heh, I guess dating someone for 7 years is a long time...
Anywho, I'm sure they would appreciate you coming forward sooner than later in the long run. Just remember to use a little tact and be careful when answering their billion and one questions about your relationship and plans. Before you confront them, make sure you have an outline of what might be asked and always have an explanation of what you guys got planned for the next five years. Parents
love hearing their child has their future planned out, even though those plans could change and what not. It's like a comfort blanket or something to them.
Blah, it's too late (or early) for me to continue giving advice, but yeah...best of luck and what not.
