Because nobody respects guns. It takes no skill whatsoever to shoot at someone from X amount of distance away.

*rudeness*Apologies.
It takes no skill whatsoever to shoot at someone from X amount of distance away? If that was the case, then Sam could have defended the dam in SoG from the 'Rooks', character had skill, hell, it was her speciality, but her player (Ie Me..) wasn't coherent enough to post with the amount of detail the character deserved, and so I didn't do much damage.
It's the same as a power or punch throwing post, it requires attention to detail. And yes, it takes skill.

Perhaps that came out wrong.
You're speaking about real life physics or whatever. I'm speaking about RP ability. Anyone can have it, they can say they know how to use it, and when the time is right, all they need to do is pull the trigger. Its nigh unstoppable and more or less kills instantly.
In a fight between someone with a gun, and someone with a sword, the outsome is more or less written before it begins. In a fight between two people each with swords, it is the individual person's skill which determines the outcome.

Then why not set it for nonlethal rounds? Like there are -alternative- ammunitions....like I believe there is a chainsaw launcher out there...and it's considered non lethal...though ridiculous.
Basically, a gun is merely a projectile launcher. But a person can have a crossbow or an energy bow...but because it's non lethal, it would be allowed? Guns don't kill people, bullets do. XD

a chainsaw launcher? how's that considered nonlethal?
anyway, a gun with nonlethal ammo is an oxymoron. jumbo shrimp, military intelligence, et cetera. i don't know of anyone, in all my years of playing, to carry nonlethal ammo unless forced by tournament rules... and even then they went on a tirade since they couldn't kill with their weapons which have no other purpose than killing [unless you count pistol whipping]. at least with hands and melee weapons, they're used more frequently to block. you can't make that case with guns.

*points to Dante*
But in anycase, I'm going to let Dante explain this when he gets home, he has more experience than I, and in this respect can clarify thoughts on the matter.

Monseiru X a chainsaw launcher? how's that considered nonlethal? Clearly having a chainsaw launched into your gut by a rocket is not enough to kill you. Or if it cuts off your limbs or head.

I blame the whole swords are honourable, guns are for cowards mentality.
All weapons are lethal, you can make something as unassuming as a pen lethal by jabbing it in someone's eye.

Nihilistic_Impact I blame the whole swords are honourable, guns are for cowards mentality. All weapons are lethal, you can make something as unassuming as a pen lethal by jabbing it in someone's eye. Basically. And I didn't say that I agreed with a chainsaw launcher being considered nonlethal, only that it was.

that's not necessary. if dante's the only person you pointed out among all the gun users on gaia, it shows how little rubber bullets are thought of. it'd also kinda get us away from the point of "guns are used to kill quickly from a distance and a bunch of gunners spraying a hall will do damage, wether or not they had light or hardcore training."
ni> i say it's more "swords=skill since you only get one good swing or stab at a time and your opponent can move, which means that you both have to be good players... guns=put on automatic and spray, because it's hard to dodge a bullet or 25 so you're likely to hit something" mentality. or truth.
in this roleplay world of give and take, people also enjoy the ability to defend themselves.
ni/kat> then let his guards equip pens and forks, then run at decruda.
kraun> indeed.
ok... i'm leaving to lunch and practice.
