September finished weeding the first part of the garden and looked at his hands. The tough grass, dirt, and rocks had scratched some of the paint and coating off of his hands. He was never meant for this kind of labor, and he knew that before long he'd look like something that came out of the junkyard.

The robot showed him the cut, not saying anything more. Damien looked it over, then rolled his eyes. "Just put a band-aid on it and get back to work." He noticed the scuffs on September's skin, but didn't do anything about it.

September put the band-aid on, feeling his heart unravel as he went back outside to continue painfully pulling out the thorny weeds.
The zombie just laughed and told himself how stupid the little boy was.
