Xearus' purpose to Darvien was blackmail, plain and simle. bloodwalking to find who sired who, who was blood bound to who, and then use either the weaker of teh bond as a 'you don't do as I say I will hurt them' ploy or a 'your fledling screws up, I stake you' thing.

Age does take into account sheer power, even by WW standards. Xearus can overcome Alric perhaps in will and determination. that's a given, Xearus been through some heavy beatings and the like. but age does include some power. Lynx can hit much, much harder than xearus. and move faster. and there's a whole array of telepathic abilities.

Alric is more of a modern weaponry and bloodmagic type, and bloodmagic is potent stuff. if you go by WW standard, the wide use of bloodmagic was teh reason all teh clans ganged up on Brujah and destroyed carthage for fear of it. or at least that was the story teh ventrue who organized everything told. they coudl have always lied.

I will say though that older vampires tend to be..taken off guard by younger ones mostly due to the fact that they know how badass they should be, adn rely far to heavily on the 'tried and true' methods. the old, it worked druing roman times, it should work now way of thinking, and can be mowed down by free thinking younger vampires. the elder that keeps all his money in one bank hoping that it being safe in a vault can be torn apart when a younger vampire hacker gets into that banks systems and wipes it out becuase the older one didn't even think that it's all run on computers, for example.

Okay, so he's an a** with an attitude that will give a good go at someone, provided that he feels the need to. You have to remember how he takes to people and situations he's being but in. There's nothing stopping him from going running home to Lynx or anything either, which his pride is alreay trod on.

My main point on him is the way I constructed him I severly crippled him really in several ways. He has a few physical flaws and then quite the number of mental ones, including the way he precieves himself.

I know, I can see that you have placed a lot of thought in how you constructed his social aspect over the more physcal elements associated with the common vampire cheese cake.

So how many of the PC vampies are similarly constructed under-powered for Role Playing purposes?

In being weak, you can better devote your energy to creating stonger personality to overcome that weakness, or develop an interesting perspective that would otherwise make no sense.

I see how you think of me as being cheesy, but believe me when I say that I am not. I just have a different understanding of what power is, and that seems to be a bit above what you precieve to be a good amount of power. Alaric's cheesiness comes from my inturrpretation of how difficult it would be for a vampire to survive in the modern age given the beastial nature of vampires. I assumed that in order to live to the age you are, you would have had to overcome adversity in all its varying degrees, including older 'more power' vampire lords and similar type things with various goal and agendas that would probably make my skin crawl to think about.

Tarathiel's preceived cheesiness comes from his attitude and process in battle. But if you actually look at him as a character, especially how he appears on paper with numbers and dice attached, he actually isn't that great. Given the appropriate circumstances and support, he can pretty much do what he was designed to do. Since I am unable to really give you a strong sense of how well he fights, it comes out cheesy. I gave him a small band of pirates, designed off of drow society and values, and he appears more cheesy. His seemingly infant amount of resources has to come from somewhere, and Since I have offered you little in the way of history, you don't actually know how he functons. So more cheesyness there too. a lot of precieved cheesyness. <3

WHat to right now appears as character analysis in the form of an attack on one of your beloved characters, with good reason, is merely me trying to understand what an appropriate amount of power is.

My refusal to allow Xearus to be underpowered bothers you because it attacks his being. Understandable and quite acceptable.

But, you fail to realize, I don't want to beat him. I want him to be strong, I want him to win, I want him to kick the snot out of Alaric, and rip his ******** head off.
