Guin - Aoiichi It might not be Gaia. But your ISP. They might be limiting your internet by blocking certain sites. True, Cox Communications is about as reliable as a tissue paper bag.

Exxos Guin - Aoiichi It might not be Gaia. But your ISP. They might be limiting your internet by blocking certain sites. True, Cox Communications is about as reliable as a tissue paper bag. Remember the whole , SOPA, Net neutrality thing ? Supposedly there is a law that protects us from ISPs choosing what we can and cannot view on the internet. But who knows if cox is following the rules. IDK, if similar sites >_> .... ( similar ? is there other sites like Gaia?) Lets say " Other Social sites " are giving you the same problem ? That new law was supposed to keep big companies from paying ISPS to push their brands down our bandwith. So ISPs would give preference to sites that could pay.....

That new law was supposed to keep big companies from paying ISPS to push their brands down our bandwith. So ISPs would give preference to sites that could pay..... Cox is big on throttling any sort of data they feel is not okay and making excuses for it under the guise of hindering piracy – both in the form of downloading and people using their services through hacked wi-fi. So with how often gaia's questionable coding decisions make for giant data bloat, I could say the site is running afoul of that. One of the things with laws like that. It keeps small upstarts from gaining purchase while the fully entrenched big corporations can afford to absorb the fines as slaps on the wrist if they can't lobby and connive their way out of it. A 25 million dollar fine will kill an upstart entirely, while a megacorp will just shrug it off or legally maneuver it into a lower fee or nothing at all. In the end it will likely just let large corporations favor certain traffic as it kills off competition. That's politics, showing the people something great while the powerful design exploits right into it from the start.

Guin - Aoiichi QUESTION : if a username is fashioned after a bodily fuction that is related to sexual organs , can the person who has said username say they are offended when there is an item that relates to sexuality ? or should they be ? I would say that they can be offended by bodily functions and sexuality that are not mentioned in their username. If they are like "menstrual_discharge83" and they are offended by a**l sex, they are valid in their offense. But if they are offended about discourse involving tampons or panty liners, they would be a somewhat of a hypocrite to an extent.

I'd also have to say that your question is a bit vague and we'd need the specifics to make a true ruling. haha

I was reading through this FIRST THREAD WHen on page four i found a reference to this Second thread. Which has a debate about colors and sexual orientation . Anyways i guess reading through that first thread go me heated . Cuz i can see Exxos's point. Turns out that the item discussed in the second thread was changed. If you want to read the original description of the item it's at the bottom of page four in the first thread. NOW, if you want to put in your two cents into the first thread . Please do . My response to that is on page nine of the first thread.

Yeah, even with the details I think Exxos' response is the best. The argument seems to be about something unrelated to the name. Whether you agree with the argument or not it doesn't seem to me like the name makes it in any way hypocritical. I don't really feel like getting involved in the larger argument. There are so many nuances regarding what is offensive and what is not. The original bloody item described in the first thread did seem pretty bad though. *shrug*

" Freedom of Speech " . And this has a potential to affect everyone. Specially if the items creator hides behind his rights . Im thinking now to review the TOS to see if gaia and users are protected somehow.

So many people misinterpret "Freedom of Speech" to mean that they have the right to say anything they wish without consequence. This is not true. Freedom of Speech just means you can't be persecuted/thrown in jail by the government unless it is deemed a hate crime. There is nothing saying other people/buisnesses can't call you out on what you say. Private companies (such as Gaia) can absolutely regulate what you do or say on their site. relevent xkcd
