I found a thread in GCD about this. Apparently it's related to this GoFusion thing but I think it's really due to the hyper inflation. Got today 80K 25K and 50K in gold and then few charms.

Oh and guess what, we have another gold sink even! The event grants only those freaking charms so yeah. No "real" events anymore. *sigh*

gaia_angelright

I have been finding that the star charms in the daily chance are lucrative because most of gaia has less brains than sense. List it for 5 to 10 billion, it sells, buy a bunch of things under 250 million. The site is literally hemorrhaging charms and people are still buying them for way too much. Gaia is the land supply and demand forgot.

No surprise there. I used to make tons of gold by selling tickets on the marketplace. When you put them out there in 10 pieces at a time you managed to get more gold per piece than you would by selling huge lot of them. When Gaia added the automatic calculation on how much the thing was per piece, it wasn't so easy anymore.

I'm bit in between if I should sell the charms or not. Some how buying new items have lost the point recently, even though I have now more gold than ever before.

When it comes to the charms, everything I could want from gofusion at the moment adds up to 40 hearts and 3 stars, so it is not really a question to dump the diamonds. Where I am at now, I just kind of want to get rid of my wishlist before the site folds as I have many a psychological issue with completing collections.

I've been afraid to look at the market... from what Exxos was saying on Facebook it don't even want to think about it.

Also what's with these animal poses? When did that become a thing? Why are there separate items to dress that pose? rolleyes

You want my charms? I have few hearts and then one diamond. I can give them to you since you obviously have more use for them. smile

Kujujuwa

The animals came little while ago. I think this spring or before summer. I don't get them and haven't seen that many who uses them. *shrugs*

If you want to, I would be appreciative as always.

On a side note, you can buy one of everything in the gold shops for around 1.2 billion if you're not including Loyal's Bazaar and alchemy. I think that puts the inflation into major context. We now have junk items (charms and alchemy bits) selling for four times the cost of the entire classic gold shop group.

:bigvein Well, I came to a realization today that a project that I have been working on for essentially 27 years is not going to work out.

Ever since I started playing the Star Wars RPG in 1987, I have wanted to chart the galaxy. I have collected articles, taken notes, strung together bits here and there. When they made an official map and atlas that was glaringly incorrect and treated any information that fell outside their myopia as anathema, it only steeled me further to do it right.

And then today happened. I put the final touches on the calculations and adjustments, ferreted out some information from the original artists, and (as Kujujuwa probably could tell you) had too many Asperger's infodumps on people to have as many friends as I have if not any at all... rofl ... I put the data into sketchup as it is the only thing that could manage these scales (0.0326m per parsec and a few kilometers across if you want to fake caring about it) and... the entirety of the right half of the Rimma Route including Elrood, Tantra, Kathol, and Minos was about 1/288th the distance – meaning the left half had to stretch across 15,000 or so parsecs.

I had finally created a tiny sliver of the galaxy that was accurate to within +/- 0.75psc and it made me realize that while I could finally make this happen, it was also entirely pointless because it would be almost entirely empty. It truly is like Kevin's old analogy for it, that the maps we have are like water balloons in the ocean, it's impossible to fill in the spaces between with any amount of detail that would give it any context.

*sigh* I know this is probably just as pointless and stupid to you all as it is to seemingly everyone else, but I am just feeling messed up right now. I figured it out and it is staunchly unfulfilling. I am faced with a dead dream and people don't care or are putting me down for having it in the first place. I have a better understanding of the astrography of the SWG at this point than probably anyone and it's become pointless. cry

I suppose the different movies, games, and books each have their own inconsistencies between each other. That can't have helped much.

What you did actually sounds pretty impressive to me. Charting a galaxy is a huge undertaking and to figure out parts of it -even small parts is awesome.

Also, and this might sound sentimental or stupid (but I really believe it), sometimes the journey really is more important than the destination. If you spent all this time doing something that you enjoyed, it was not time wasted at all! I think we get too caught up in the idea that there has to be a perfect product as a result of anything we do or we were "wasting time" in the attempt. Not true!

I second Cam's post. I think this is pretty amazing that you managed to do it! Also, if you think about it, majority of the real universe is empty space or dark matter and that haven't stopped the astronomers from mapping out what's in there!

edit: I also sent you a trade for the charms and little bit something else. smile

Up until the prequel period, they actually had a continuity department, so for the most part everyone had their own sections of the Galaxy and that is the actual origin of "The Slice;" WEG and the novels got the Perlemian/Rimma side, the movies got the center, and the comics got the Corellian Run side so nobody would step on each other's toes. It was vague, but consistent. Then the post-1999 period became a time of active destruction of continuity – hence my reviling of it, it's not as much hate as like someone spontaneously editing an entire encyclopedia randomly. razz

Heh, the thing is in this case the perfect product is just bleh. cat_rofl I did not enjoy it for a very long time, it's been an obsession and got too serious. But after a bit of sleep, I have a bit more perspective. I have learned a lot and can be a much better gamemaster for it.

True, though if you look at a modern starmap, it's populated with all sorts of interim stuff because so much of it is named or classified. While my map could only reference the known items and would end up like if we mapped out all of the items in your kitchen, Camwen's bathroom, and my garage then laid them out at the same scale without mentioning anything in between. A too scale map at 1/1,000 scale mentioning nothing between here, portland, and finland would be essentially a blank expanse and the details so small as to not show up in relation to each other.

All the more impressive on your part given that you had such limited information to work with.

That's why I ended up using sketchup of all things because I could assign coordinates, switch to a different tool, and when I switched back, the line tool or whatever would still be attached to the origination down to 1/10mm.

Hey guys...really feeling that "what else is there left" thing...and have really been missing my AGA people. How y'all doing?

Exxos

Dude the ladies have already said everything that's cool with what you did on the mapping. This might seem patronizing...but you're amazing in your attempt and wish i could have held on to something that long.

Not patronizing at all. I am happy to not get the usual "WTF is wrong with you?" response. sweatdrop
