-kun is male only. Sometimes used for pets.
-chan is more a term of endearment... or often used to cutify things.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Kuro Okami Isn't there also a way to address your friends and/or love interest. Like, either saying their first name then attaching the suffix -kun, if it is a male friend, and/or the suffix -chan if it is a girl or a younger child? -chan is used basically for children or younger people. Boys tend to use it with girls to show more affection. -kun is used for boy's, but after you use their given name. However, when you refer to one of your subordinates, you place it after their last name
