Actually, the 10 Commandments are commandments. They're sayings. It's a common mistranslation of the Hebrew word used in the Torah. I can't remember what it is at the moment, but when I remember/find out, I shall let you all know. I mean, think about it. "I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Eygpt." How is that commanding someone to do something?
Also, there are something like 14 sayings. They're just broken up into 10 sentences or something like that. We had a whole discussion on this and the two versions found in the Torah during my Classic Jewish Texts class. ^^

Neko, it's a Catholic tradition/practise.
Naota, it's not taught in Christian belief because no sin can expel you from Heaven after you've accepted Christ as Saviour. Nothing you do, after being redeemed, can deny you that redemption. Nothing can remove your name from the Book of Life. No thing can pluck you from God's hand.

For a heads up:
Catholics are Christian. Protestants are Christian. They are groups with in Christianity, not different faiths.
Therefore all common beliefs are the Christian ones, while other beliefs may be Protestant, or Catholic or whatever smaller denominations you'd like to get into.
Besides which isn't there scriptural backing for the 7 deadly sins? Assuming there is, it's really irrelevant which gorup came up with them, as it would apply to everyone due to the *bible.
*Unless we want to get into what translation is really correct.

._. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah, I'm gonna stick with Judaism, thank you. Make a lot more sense to me and we're not quite as diverse.
It's actually really fun to look at scisms in religions, see how long a religion stayed unified. It's kinda nifty.
