Jack raised an eyebrow and laughed alitte "Really? I didn't know trees talked." He said with a smirk "Or used Telescopes." He then saw Fredrick's foot hanging down. "Or had feet dangling from branches" Jack said with and small laugh "How stupid do you think I am Dude?"

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••Gwen Bloom Gwen walked in the town square, heels clicking on the stone with each stride. It was weird that she would wear heels to a cooking competition, but that was how she was most comfortable. She wore a simple wool sweater and cuffed skinny jeans, a pink apron stuffed in her bag along with special cooking utensils she didn't expect the festival to have.
She fully planned to enter today, and she planned to win...or at least place. Her cooking skill had greatly improved over the last year, her head was stuffed in a cook book the entire time she locked herself away in her house. She had gone from average to expert, and wanted everyone to know. It would be no one else's victory, she was doing this for herself, therefore she wanted to enter alone. However, she didn't much know how to say no if someone asked her to be their partner. She hadn't figured that out. Today was just about her, there would be no casual flirting, no heavy petting, it was serious business.

"Ah! Perfect!" exclaimed the old woman as she was finishing up the paper work for Alex to enter. She was getting a bit overwhelmed with everyone signing up right now and could really use some other judge's help. However, a little light came that made her smile like she hadn't smile since the previous year! It was Mystery Girl X! The ruling champion! The one with the most amazing appetizer that had her shed a tear at that time! Her main entree, while not being as tasty as the appy, had been one of the most beautiful thing she had ever seen! Oh, MGX, how Gladice loved you! She filled up the form for the girl and gave her a thumb up. she had really high expectation for her again this year.

Cooking Festival ❤ ❤ ❤(Mystery Girl X) (Frederick K. Murrow) (Maxwell McKnight) "That's not my foot, it's actually a mannequin in clothes." Frederick stated casually. "No, seriously." He said, before dropping a mannequin. Really, what did this person expect? For Frederick to have his foot dangling out like that? Only an idiot wouldn't be completely hidden within the tree! As for the mannequin.. well he had no real idea as to how it even got there. Possibly from a previous hurricane? Whatever. "As stupid as you look. With your shirt open like that. In the winter. I may have been raised outdoors in the sheer cold, and even I wouldn't do that." Get it? Because he was hidden in a very uncomfortable Alaskan pine tree? He thought it was pretty funny.

Jack laughed and raised a eyebrow at the mannequin. "Huh, I didn't expect that" He said to himself before looking back at Fredrick "Come on dude, just give it up." Jack said bluntly and with a small chuckle "Do you really think that I believe in talking trees? Thats stuff of fairy tales, dude"

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ - Lucas Grey, Kaleb Roman, & Ilya de la Cruz - __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Lucas was scared. No scratch that... terrified. He was alone today, and he was sure this was a very bad thing. Which had him looking even more like an easy prey. To top it off Blaire didn't want to come. She mumbled something and told him to go alone. So... with a sigh the boy went over to sign himself up for the competition. He figured it'd be fun. ...And he wasn't THAT horrible cooking. To his surprise, he was already signed up... by... Alanis!? Dear goddess no!! NO!!!! Lucas was not in his happy place.Kaleb and Ilya were arriving just in time for the festival. They only went out for the New Year's eve night, and what a night that was. Kaleb wasn't really happy that Ilya took people home... but he got over it after some wine and she being... being llya. That and she cooked for him. She was laughing slightly at the fact that he shut up at the talk of drinking tonight. Wine was like the magic keyword for him. Soon enough they were signing up for the festival and just chatting until it began.

Fleurette turned around when she heard a voice. Usually she wouldn't, because there could be a lot of other people that could possibly be referred to as 'Ms.' But Fleurette did not immediately launch herself into the crowd, and instead pondered on the sides, wondering how she could have fun cooking without making a complete fool of herself. She smiled at Maxwell. The boy was dressed kind of weirdly... but at least he wasn't the only one on the island... maybe he came from New Zealand or something. He seemed... oddly mature... he couldn't be older than nine. That was like... a third grader or something! Fleurette knew she was probably the most immature person in her class at that age, and now was really no different.
"Of course, you're so cute!" She clapped her hands together in excitement. At least someone wanted to be her partner. She hoped Kade wasn't expecting to be partners or something. "I'd be happy to! I'd have to warn you though, I'm not a very good cook. But I can totally reach, um... high items." She was pretty average in means of height, and could definitely reach more than this short boy.

Cooking Festival ❤ ❤ ❤(Mystery Girl X) (Frederick K. Murrow) (Maxwell McKnight) (It's Spring/? Ohh, right. It is. Alright, instead of being on an Alaskan pine tree, hes now in a Goldenraintree, everything else he sticks to >:0)
"Well I easily detect no more joy or innocence in your heart." Frederick responded. Maybe one day someone will approach him in a tree who is still a believer, not like all of these srs bsns people who do not know the truth still. What next? He's not going to believe in fairies - which so totally exist as all science proves it? He now lost interest in this non-believer, and started to move his telescope away, to spy on other people. ______
"Fantastic." He replied with a nod. The mage has now joined my party, how wonderful. It makes up for having one less party members - as to my knowledge Cindy is not at this festival currently. Not only do I have a magician with me, but she's a magician in a cooking festival, cooking is almost like a second nature to them, as they tend to be experienced in potions and alchemy- Maxwell looked surprised hearing that she is not good at cooking. This is an outrage! A magician who cannot follow easy instruction? No! A woman who cannot cook for her male? How.. how utterly useless! But he already requested and had his request accepted to have her as a member of the party, he could not deny her that right now. That would be rather unknightly of him to do so. "I.. I see... Well, worry not. For cooking is a rather simple skill that you can pick up in no time."

When Nanami looked back over at Matt, she was startled to find that the brunette was walking right up to her! She glanced at Haruka, as if the girl would reveal that she and Gemma were secretly friends, but Haruka had just as blank of a look as her mother. Next thing she knew, the woman was asking her something she didn't understand. Matthew caught up and stopped her before she could finish. The one who? The one who what? "Cousin!" Nanami exclaimed. Well, that explained it. She was glad to have an explanation; otherwise, it would have bothered her all day. She had a brand new kind of confusion now, though. The two were speaking hushes tones, and what she could catch made very little sense. "Oh no, that's fine," Nanami said in response to Matthew's apology with a smile. She had never been mistaken for someone else before, it was interesting! "You're in town visiting?" she spoke to Gemma now. "That's nice of Matthew to take you out to the cooking festival. It's a fun one, I promise," she added with a wink. She too had forgotten that Haruka was standing there, and it wasn't until she glanced off in the direction of the tables that she noticed her daughter standing there. Haruka looked perplexed. She didn't know who Matthew was, or why her mother was speaking so familiarly with him. Nanami sensed this, and quickly reassured her. "Oh, Haruka, this is Matthew. He's a bartender at the place I go to." 'Place'. That was a nice, safe word. "Oh, and he's Carly's boyfriend. Right?" she looked at Matthew with a smile, but it didn't last long. The moment the words left her mouth, she was hit with a feeling that she had said something she wasn't supposed to. Haruka, meanwhile, was startled. Boyfriend?! Carly's? She bit her lip to hold back a blush. She had misunderstood. Totally, completely misunderstood. Her mother NEVER brought friends back to the house (though technically Carly was the one to visit), so she had made it out to be something more than it was. She was embarrassed. How could she be so stupid? Alex smiled at Gladice and uttered a small word of thanks before walking back to the edge of the square. He was enjoying his alone time. And he got to cook. This may have been the best day he had since moving out here.

Fleurette frowned. The boy seemed very disappointed that she couldn't really cook... Well, anyone probably wouldn't appreciate having a partner that didn't know how to cook... but what more did this boy know than her!? "Uh, I have the... skill to cook it just doesn't work out for me?" She shrugged and smiled weakly. She wasn't very good at getting children's hopes up. "But I'm sure with teamwork, we can win this competition!" She was going to add something about 'you can do anything if you set your mind to it,' but that was her father's favorite line to attempt to cheer Fleurette up, which failed all the time. Also, it was cliché. Her father said it so many times as a child that she basically burned in her brain to do the opposite. "Well... Uh, don't worry, we'll do fine." She waved a hand on the matter. "I'm Fleurette." She smiled warmly and extended a hand after bending down slightly to reach eye level with Maxwell.

iPod playing classical music Celeste made her way to the festival. She didn't get lost this time as it was held in the Town Square and she had been here previously for the New Year's celebration. Okay... so maybe she had gotten lost... once... but it had only been for five minutes, and that nice NPC had graciously helped her.
Nevertheless, here she was. Her new necklace, from her secret admirer was resting outside of her drop waist dress, her hair pulled back into a braid and clipped so her shorter bangs wouldn't get in her face. It was spring and she was going to live it up. Besides, she wasn't planning on cooking or anything. She was a decent cook but she didn't want to cook alone. Annnnd, she didn't have anyone to enter with. So she would watch, hopefully enjoy the food, and do it comfortably too. Turning down her music, but not turning it off, she wandered, aimlessly looking for someone she knew. Maybe someone she had met was entering.

x████████x MATTHEW COLLINS and GEMMA RHODESx████████x "Oh, so that was her name." Gemma nodded, putting her hand up to her chin. Matthew had not mentioned her name before, neither did his mother on the phone. Gemma was bound to not know the woman's name. "We don't talk about her much, it upsets Matt." Gemma clarified, wondering how this woman didn't know about it. Had this Carly been so irresponsible as to go without saying goodbye to her friends?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And there it was, exactly what Matthew was trying to avoid. He started to feel a mild nausea at the thought of having to explain. Matthew hated breaking bad news, it always weighed heavy on his heart afterward. Maybe he was just really sensitive about these things. And-- did Gemma just...? Oh s**t, this is all going to crap now. Might as well come clean, while twisting the truth a little so he'd look sympathetic, too. He was, but if he explained it how it was, he'd look like a jackass. Furthermore, Nanami could be biased because of her friendship with Carly.
"Well, actually..." Matthew started, giving a slight uncomfortable look down at Haruka; because she was probably just as freaked out and uncomfortable as him. "Carly went back home, with her parents. She was becoming rather gloomy and despondent." he explained, trying to gain the woman's sympathy. "She resisted leaving, at first. But I'm pretty sure, well, completely sure, she saw the logic of it." he frowned, sad eyes looking straight at Nanami.
"Carly needed professional help, and to patch things up with her family. I'm sure she would have stayed unhappy otherwise." Matthew continued, feeling like maybe he should put a hand on her shoulder or something. But, really, they weren't close enough, for that. And Gemma could very well take it the wrong way and end up making a huge misunderstanding in some future occasion.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I'm surprised you didn't know. I mean, that's just irresponsible, on her part." Gemma nodded slowly, trying to seem understanding. She wasn't good at seeming sympathetic toward other people. "Maybe she left in a hurry?" she tried to reason, but that just seemed odd... even to her.
"Gemma." Matthew sighed, giving himself a facepalm. As to why, she didn't understand, because she was only trying to reason the other woman's actions! "I'm very sorry, Nanami. About telling you like this." he finally said, looking very upset, himself. Wow, that chick must have done a real number on him. "I do have her number, though. You know... in case you want to call or something." Matthew added, awkwardly closing his sentence. Obviously, this woman could be offended and not want to speak to the other anymore.

Nanami's mouth fell open as she looked back and forth at Matthew and Gemma while they spoke. She was having trouble coming up with words. She was certainly surprised -- who wouldn't be, when you weren't expecting that sort of answer? She rarely saw Carly as festivals, so she hadn't thought much of her absence. This explained why she hadn't heard from her friend in a while. She wasn't offended or anything. Sure, she would have liked to talk to her again, but she never liked good-byes in the first place. It would have been awkward and she was glad to be without such an experience. "Oh, I'm sorry, Matthew," she finally said. It was easier to be sympathetic of his feelings than to think about herself. "It must be hard. Then again, even better for you to be here," she added to Gemma, laughing softly. Err... maybe she shouldn't have laughed. It was like she was playing it off to be less serious than it really was! She quickly cleared her throat. "If you don't mind, Matthew... I'd like to give her a call. You can give it to me later, though," she added quickly. She didn't want to inconvenience him anymore than she already was by talking about it. She was quiet for a moment before deciding to change the subject. "...Are you two going to participate in the contest?" she asked hopefully.

x████████x MATTHEW COLLINS and GEMMA RHODESx████████x Matthew smiled softly, appreciating the gesture of her sympathy. And he was so glad that he played that off well. He wasn't a jackass! Now, he knew for sure Carly wouldn't say anything about it, so he was safe. Matthew nodded and managed to reply a "Sure," followed by another smile. No need to go all deep into this. He was rather grateful that Nanami didn't either.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gemma, instead, answered her other question. "Oh, heavens no!" Gemma laughed, looking over at the... contest area. "I mean, we both know how to cook, but I'd much rather not get into this. Maybe some other weird festival Matt's told me about, like that tomato one. That one seems fun!" Gemma said exuberantly, a genuine smile coming to her face. She seemed a little excited, even by just thinking about it.
Seriously, chucking tomato at people was a festival?! Awe-some! She really only went to plays in high school to see if someone would pelt Matthew's drama diva girlfriend with the red fruit that usually adorned a salad dish. Yes, it's a fruit! "But this? Ugh, no." she shook her head, fearing that she'd mess something up. And the fact was, she thought that everybody would get a taste, and she didn't want to hear any objections as to the way she or Matt cooked! She was new, and it'd set a bad precedent!
"Are you two entering?" Gemma asked, looking down at Haruka as she asked Nanami. Seriously, that young woman was giving her a very weird vibe. x████████x The Ordinary and The Cuckoo x████████x
