((Sorry, I've been busy with a new crochet project. I get all focused on it and forget about anything else for hours and hours.))

Christoph studied her quietly, thinking hard. Her technical skill wasn't the greatest he'd ever seen, but she played with a lot of heart. Just by listening, he heard how much this song meant to her and even got a sense of why it meant so much. Someone very dear had taught it to her, and she played it in honor of him or her. The Haunted Music had seemed to lean in to listen to her, too. He made his decision.

"Tomorrow night, you'll open for the act. It's a trio of string players, so it's appropriate that you open for them. I'd like to see you in front of a crowd." He smiled and gestured to the break room. "You can stay on the couch tonight if you want. Nobody can get in here unless they have permission, and after hours, the Haunted Music Box doesn't give permission very easily at all."

Faith light up with a glow, and she said with great enthusiasm, "Thank you!!! Thank you so much, Chri-....." Faith wanted to say his name, but she didn't want to seem impolite or to forward, so she just said, "Thank you. I really appreciate it." Faith blushed a bit; she could hardly contain her excitement, so she hugged Christoph.

Adam sighed as he watched and listened to the newcomer play. The music was hauntingly beautiful, and calming as well, he enjoyed hearing it. He carefully wiped down the tables, being careful not to jostle his ribs or his arm. He absentmindedly wondered if Christoph was going to let him stay as well, but he didn't make his questions vocal.

Faith pulled away from her hug that she gave Christoph. "Sorry." she said with a slight blush. Faith looked over to the bar and saw a young man who looked serenely lonely. Faith thought that it was just her and Christoph in the bar; she didn't know that there was someone else that had heard her play the song that had meant so much to her, so she asked Christoph, "Um..... who.. who is that over there?" Faith pointed to where the guy was standing.

Christoph looked to where Faith was pointing.

"Hm? Oh, that's Adam!" He laughed. "Sorry, kid, I forgot about you. You needed a place to stay, too, right?" He pondered for a moment. As much as he liked the kid, Adam couldn't stay here. It just wasn't appropriate, not with Faith here as well. His eyebrows drew together in thought. Finally, he scratched his head and said, "I supposed you'll just have to come back with me to my apartment. I've got an extra couch there. But tomorrow morning, we're going to be back here bright and early. I've got some stuff that you'll be doing to earn your keep until you get your own place or something."

This giving people places to sleep was hard.

Adam nodded. "Thank you Christoph." He said, finishing up the table he had been wiping down. "And I'll do the best that I can to help you with whatever you need." He said.

Christoph smiled at Adam and put a hand on his shoulder. "I'm sure you will. Now come on, I have to lock up, and we have to go. Good night, Faith. Stay out of the stock, and don't go outside." He headed for the door, pulling out a tarnished silver key as he did.

Faith cocked her head in curiosity as she saw Christoph pull out the silver key. She thought, huh. I don't think I like the idea of being locked up in here. But she didn't voice her concern out loud. Instead she said, "Christoph? Me too. I'll try my best, and I'll make sure that you won't be disappointed." Faith smiled, "Thank you so very much." Then she waved good bye to the both of them as the two men left the Haunted Music Box.

Adam walked next to Christoph after they left the music box. "U-um Christoph, where do you live exactly?" He asked.

"Not too far. Just stick close to me. A lot of bad things have been happening lately, and I don't want you to become a casualty of them." Christoph locked the front door of the Haunted Music Box, feeling it slump a little as if sad. He patted the front door comfortingly and reminded it to keep Faith safe. Then he turned and walked quickly down the street.

Several blocks later, he was at an apartment complex. "Come on, Adam. Just up some stairs and into my apartment."

Adam nodded towards his arm. "I think that I've already become a casualty in some respects." He said. He followed after Christoph to his apartment complex. "So this is where you live?" He asked.

Christoph dug another key out of his pocket. This one was a more modern key. He stuck it into the lock of his front door and said, "Yep. Home sweet home." The door swung open to reveal a clean apartment.

Christoph hung his key on a hook next to the door and stepped inside. "Bathroom's the first door down that hall over there. I'll grab you some blankets and set up the couch so you can crash there tonight."

He walked into the aforementioned hall and opened a closet on the right filled with blankets, sheets, and spare pillows. Christoph pulled out some of them and headed to the small front room.

"You're welcome to take a shower or whatever. There's medicines and bandages behind the mirror in there, too. If you need your clothes washed, just tell me."

Adam nodded, listening to Christoph as he looked around the place. "You don't spend much time here do you Christoph?" He asked. "This place, it isn't truly your home is it? The Music Box is isn't it?" He asked.

Christoph shrugged. "Well, it really depends on what your definition of home is. This is the place where I sleep after work. Otherwise, I'm at the Haunted Music Box, working."

He tossed the sheets onto the floor and yanked all the couch cushions off. Then he grabbed the bar and pulled out the hide-a-way bed. Once that was done, he piled the couch cushions on top of the thin mattress and put the sheets and blankets on top of that, adjusting everything until it was neatly made up.

"I'm not much of a homemaker, so don't expect five-star hotel-like accommodations. If it's not comfortable enough for you, sorry. I don't have anything else." He shrugged and grinned apologetically. "Uh, lessee, what else....? Oh!" He snapped his fingers. "If you're hungry, there's some dried foodstuffs and canned stuff in the kitchen cupboards. I don't have a fridge since I'm not here enough to warrant one. The can-opener's on the counter, just stick it in and it'll open it automatically."
