Ok everyone gather round, I give you Eragon the movie, in a nutshell.
So this little farmboy nammed Luk-- Eragon goes hunting in the forest and finds a misterious egg that he brings back to his uncle's moiusture-- I mean regular farm. The egg hatches and Eragon gets taught in the ways of the Jed-- Dragonrider by this old guy nammed Obi-- I mean Brom. He teaches him how to ride dragons and how to use the for-- magic and they both set off to find Princess Lei-- I mean Arya. Along the way they pick up a kid nammed Ha-- Murtagh and Brom bites the dust by the hands of Darth Va-- Durza. Then they find Arya and the Rebeli-- Varden and then Eragon fights in this big battle and kills Durza and they all live happily ever after. Set up Eragon 2: Galbitorix Strikes Back.

Thus, this Eragon is essentially Star Wars in a fantasy setting, then?

Celestia Whitesword Thus, this Eragon is essentially Star Wars in a fantasy setting, then? In a way, but just think the most stereotypical fantasy story ever created. Good guy, bad guy, no development, good guy fights big battle, wins the day, the dead come back to life (save but one).... too sterotypical for my tastes. Nothing fresh.

It does seem to be the formula for most fantasy works. ^_^;; Rant and Intro threads are now open for business, everyone!

you guys do realize it was written by 15 year old right? He probably didn't mean to do it. (not that I'm defending him, but I am a librarian and the book came first). Oh well, it's a kids movie

15 year old or not, its definately lacking any definitive complexity.
Even though its not dosdoyefsky, I'm also not sure if its exactly close to being "entertaining". The movie was boring, even for me (while I rip movies to shreds, usually I find one decent aspect).
Come to think of it, its like Dragonheart mixed with Lord of the Rings.
