"It'll be complete chaos," Marcus told her happily, the very same images in his mind. "We'll be driven insane. And Gran even more."

"Well I think we may have a bit of immunity, but fear to all those who cross us." Terryn flashed a wicked grin. "Magnified versions of ourselves in compact, energy laden bodies."

"Do you really think we have any say whatsoever on who becomes their target?" Marcus could hardly contain himself. "You must keep in mind that these are our children. They will go out of their way to torment us."

"That is true, but remember, they are learning from the masters." Terryn smiled sagely, scratching lightly behind his ear.

Marcus shrugged. He was still grinning. "We shall see soon enough, I suppose." He ran his hands along Terryn's sides, looking giddy. "Suppose you are already with child. Then it would be less than a year until we were parents."

"True." Terryn placed her hands on his, stopping them from moving. "But as I said last night, odds are that it will not be so simple. My mother had a very difficult time conceiving, as did her mother, so odds are I am the same way."

Marcus shrugged. He was too happy to be bogged down by these trivialities. "Well, that's fine. But your mother did conceive. And fairly young, too. And your parents had three children. Two boys and a girl. Just as we hoped for."

"Well yes but..." Terryn sighed, shrugging as she leaned into him. She didn't feel like pressing the point at the moment. "At any rate, we should not bring up the subject until it happens. We do not need your grandmother harping on us."

"She thinks otherwise," Marcus reminded her, his smile fading slightly. The Duchess meant well, but that was about all. "But that's fine. We won't mention anything." Never mind that the subject was likely to be among the first that the Duchess brought up.

Terryn was thinking along the exact same lines as Marcus, her half shrug accompanied by a small frown. "Of course, odds are that she will not hesitate to ask if that is the reason we were married so quickly. i daresay we shall have little privacy from her on the subject until I am pregnant enough to satisfy her."

"She'll be attacking you every way that she can," Marcus replied lazily. "Being a good wife, just as she was. Needlework and all of that. You can imagine." He said this all rather solemnly, as though it was unfortunate but unavoidable.

Terryn wrinkled her nose at the thought. "Perhaps I should congregate with my father and other men. I feel I would do much better as a husband than as a wife."

"That may be so, but I'm afraid you're out of luck. I have no business among wives." Marcus began to grin. "Well, nothing respectable, in any case."

"Are you sure?" Terryn glanced up at him with an attempt at seriousness. "Have you no interesting recipes or gardening advice? Perhaps you know how to dye wool more effectively for richer colored tapestries?"

Marcus shook his head sadly. "I can take grass stains out of clothing," he offered, shrugging. He looked up, eyes crinkling. "And I've become quite good with stains in bedsheets, if that's worth anything."
