aella is half light elf, so she counts.
half elves are considered elves for the effects of magical arms, armour, and spell effects and racial equipment.
Elvish genes are superior to human genes (which racedies of old age (really early on) again?) which enables them to have many of the elfish traits etc...
What ever.
Elrond is a half elf.
Look at him, all high at the council of his name.

I never really saw Aella as any thing "high"...but I'm not that picky.
