Malik was quiet for a moment.
"most likely. it would have been similar. But the power's that be had other plans for us where we came from."
What was the point in lying about it. but he led her outside, looking at the terrain of mass covered stome and those odd white trees. worms as big as rabbits, and spiders like dogs...all the common underground species of animal seemed much larger, as if a counter balance to a species that would live above ground. His nightmare was grazing on the moss, and the flesh of a spider it had apparently stomped to death as well.
"Where's Serino I wonder."

"I thought that the powers that be were suppose to smite us." She flashed a smile to him at their own personal little joke and then nodded a little. "I'm glad it turned out different than here though...I mean can you fathom what I would be like if you went through with what you had intended back then? That's one broken spirited little elf." She quieted herself and looked about as she usually did, her vision while good was never good as Malik's underground though. A tilt of her head as she was thinking on things. "Those are trees right?" Of course by tree she meant TREE not, roots of trees and the like. But a curious look over to Malik's nightmare when he mentioned Serino, seeing as he usually hung out around her. "Maybe he went off to explore. You know how he wanders. Or maybe he went to fetch me something." Meaning he was making trips to some sort of surface, be it in this world or another. He would always bring something back for Piper that was surface oriented. Piper shrugged lightly before turning and taking to touring the grounds, though she watched the ground more than where she was going really. She had the horrible habit of tripping over...well everything down here. Though she smiled some as she seemed to come upon an archery range. "Okay, proof I ruled the roost." Curiosity got the best of her as always as she had to walk over and grab an arrow, studying the crest on it. Like hers but not. This little painted silver feather had painted blood dripping from the feather. "But of course..."

He followed with her, though he saw differently than she did. mostly infrared vision, heat and the like, in the dark. but he followed after her, and smiled lightly at her archery range.
"Yes, like Broog said, you ruled the roost. As for us..your right, you'd have been a broken little elf. Much more pleasurable this way. And yes..these are trees. white trees. I wonder how they survive down here."
He touched one, smooth bark on it.
"so I guess the no climbing trees rule is back in effect."
A small grin at that, then another look, and he found somethign of interest, walking over to a stable with a single stall, that had somethign very familiar.
"come look at this. Seems Serino..or another Zephyr..was a rather controled pet."
Holding up a set of Reins for a Zephyr horse.

"Just when I thought I was going to get a chance to climb a tree again." She twirled the arrow around in her fingers as she took to checking out the proclaimed tree. "It looks all sick like...then again I suppose that's normal for down here." Though that was cut short as Malik called her attention over to something she could of lived without knowing. Trotting over she almost took a spill over a rock but managed to stumble herself to balance and cross the short distance without meeting the dirt face to face as she had many times over. "Good lord..." Taking the Reins from him she studied them a moment noticing that they weren't like she usually kept them. These had been tied to take on a permanent make of true reins. "I kept Serino caged up..." She shook her head. "Who's letting me get away with all of this? I mean...come on, I'm one elf and not everyone wears a collar or can fall to sword." A look to him though. "I'm glad I never saw any of this stuff in you because frankly, I'm not liking this at all." It was in fact a rather dramatic way to know how the Piper before her used to live.

"There's no one that coudl have stopped you. you forget the tools at your disposal. sure, maybe not everyone wore a collar. sure maybe not everyone would have fallen to the sword. but let me tell you something. one hour in a Breaker room, and you would never, ever, want to even risk going back."
A shake of his head.
"Fear is the most crippling force in the world. even here. make them fear you, and they'll never challenge you. Make a few examples, martyr a few. then none will stand up for risk of thier own lives."

"You can speak of it all so casually." She shook her head, setting the Reins on the hook on the stable frame then grasped the arrow she still had hold of in both hands, snapping it in two and dropping both pieces. Piper crossed her arms with a sigh and took to scanning what she could see around them for a moment. "When do you want to leave for Deepwater?" Yes a change of subject as her mind went through things. Sure, he could adapt to this all to quickly because he could see himself in the position she one owned here. Piper couldn't and it was harder for her to just simply accept things they way they were. Or rather the way things are in this world.

A small frown, looking over to her.
"Sorry if I don't...come off quite right to you. I don't mean any offense or anything. This just isn't..new to me. I've been witness to the use of this kind of power, and I've weilded it."
But a thoughtful look at her question.
"We'll need to find out, now that the signals are up, just how long between now and the start is. I mean if it's soon, we should probably leave asap. if it's still a little while, I'd want to stay here and learn more about what's going on first before we leave."

"I didn't mean it that way Malik. I'm well aware that it's easy for you to all glance at this and not really care about it. You were once this way as I've been told many times. But it's just a little harder to let this all just become my lifestyle. I'm the one who's supposed to be some ruthless cold hearted elf in this world, not you. Do tell Malik, when was the last time you ever remotely saw me close to being that kind of elf?" She closed her eyes and rubbed at her temples a moment, taking a breath or two. "Sorry..." Piper was quiet a moment more before she turned and took to walking once more. "If it's as a standard tournament should be then there should be a period of three days to a week before anything really happens. Gives everyone time to prepare and enter and the like. We could easily spend another day to here and learn a few things if that's what you want to do."

He walked with her, putting an arm around her waist, and producing another cinnamon stick to get her out of her minor little depression. those things were great for helping her mood.
"Then lets take a day or two, see how things are around here, learn what we can. if nothing else could probably learn how the competition is, and make our decision on what we want to do about things."

"Someone has to keep you from overdoing things." Without much thought to it she took that cinnamon stick and chewed on it in normal fashion, leaning into him some as they walked the grounds. Yes, cinnamon was good for her mood, always was. But she was also a little more relaxed because she didn't have to watch her feet as she walked at the moment. Piper always was able to trip herself up when walking apart from Malik but walking with him she never made a foul step. "Sounds like a good plan though, see exactly how a day passes here, learn the routine of the place. I do plan on going out for a ride when Serino gets back...just to look out farther a bit more without breaking any bones or injuring myself that is." Yes, she had gone out a few times by herself without Malik in other places they had been, it was just usually disastrous and Malik would eventually have to get her out of something or other. But it was always less chance of disaster when she had Serino.

"Sounds like a good idea. when you and Serino head out, maybe also keep your eyes open for any trade routes or shipping. see if we deal in more than just flesh. maybe these strange trees have some kind of sap or something useful about them."
He liked when she leaned agasint him like that, and trusted his footing, before he stopped, and turned her to look at him, taking the cinnamon stick out of her mouth.
"You know how much you mean to me, right? If anything happens here or in deepwater and you need me, get me. I don't care if it breaks appearances or if I'm in a tournament match. you come find me, and I'll take care of it, alright?"

"Right, I'll keep a look out for anything useful. With my luck I'll attract unwanted attention. But that could possibly prove useful as well. I'll probably try to find the highest ground that's relatively close to here." Because she always did. But then she blinked as he had stopped and turned her to him, lastly taking her cinnamon stick. There it was, that side of him that only she got to see and one of the sides of him that she loved the most. A smile lifted her lips and lit her eyes before she wrapped her arms around him, nuzzling her head to his chest. "I understand. If I need you, I'll come get you no matter the circumstance or situation." Then she pushed up on her toes to be close to his ear to whisper. "I love you Malik." Why whispered? Came from Malik's bred paranoia of such things being stated out loud in a place where such knowledge could cause harm. Dropping down off her toes she smiled at him, resting against his chest once more. "You think we'll be okay here?"

He held her close to him, and ran his hand down her back, smiling when she whispered in his ear, and ran his hand through her hair while she was agasint him. No matter what the circumstance, she took precedence. more important than anything.
"I love you too, Piper. And I think we'll be alright here. might take a little getting used to, and we'll have to get them used to me being in charge of the more..negative things, but we should be just fine. The gods haven't smote us yet, and I don't think they'll try it now. well at least I hope not."
A small chuckle and he lifted her off her feet, and gave her a loving kiss.

"I think they'll adjust just fine, a little yelling and they'll take to doing what they're told." But she sighed slightly. "I mean...all I can do is try but that doesn't look very promising." Then she looked up at him, about to make a rather nice joke when he lifted her and kissed her in that way that pretty much drugged her up. One leg hooked behind one of Malik's and the other one braced it's knee against his hip. Hey look, tree climbing skills. Of course she had to give him his own dose of drug, fingertips coming to play with his ears, yes she knew his weak spot well. Pulling back she rested her forehead against his, looking at him with a smile."They tried last week remember? When I kept falling and you started patronizing, so I started yelling, then you started yelling, so I walked away and ended up walking right off that little cliff embankment thing and dropped myself into chest deep freezing cold water with biter things in it?"

Playing with his ears while her legs were hooked around him made his eyes half close and a hint of that lustful look shine in them, before a smile and a chuckle.
"Yes I remember. walked clear off the edge into one of the standing pools in Neriak, and those little biters are called eels. you freaked, started screaming about something moving and nibbling at your toes, and after I dragged you out I still got smacked for letting you fall in becuase you thought I planned it."
