"I would like for you to go with Ryushi to this island," he said to her, making complete eye contact. Then he turned to his son. "And I would like for you to judge whether or not her words are true. Until then, she is under your protection, and is not to come to harm."
Ryushi's look of intense attention dissolved into a dull, dumb stare. "What? If she's lying, she could kill me too," he said, though it didn't sound at all like he suspected her of murder.
"Your abilities are past that chance," Reitoku said simply, and Ryushi was silent.

Iro blinked at the Priest. "You want me to go back there?" she asked, near hysterics in her voice, "you want me to go back to where they want to kill me? And with him?!?" She indicated Ryu, though she didn't sound to upset with the fact that he'd be her companion.

Reitoku smiled disarmingly. "I assure you, my son is among the most capable, with some discipline."
"How much of your village can use magick?" asked Ryushi, looking steadily at Iro.

"All the men, and about four women, including myself." she said, confused by his question, "The men in our village are expected to be part of the village gaurd, so they're all taught magick at a young age, and the women are considered unworthy of magick except for healers and the few that left to learn somewhere else and then came back..."

"How large is the village itself?" Ryushi asked, all business now. He knew that the island was small, but nothing about the village. He leaned forward towards Iro.
"And how likely are they willing to submit to the Temple authority?"
Reitoku smiled and nodded, pleased that his son was taking things into control.

"Not very large, the whole thing covers less that five acres, and there are about twenty small families....as for if they'll submit to the temple, I have no idea..."

Ryushi took a deep breath, and sighed. He cast a look in Reitoku's direction, and Reitoku looked back, seeming as if he knew what he was talking about. "I'll need the higher-up vials," Ryushi said shortly.
"Of course," Reitoku said with a sweep of his arm. "It's all there for you."
"Okay," Ryushi said. He then turned back towards Iro and grinned. "There is nothing to worry about. Nothing but if you're lying or not," he said, almost daring her.

Iro opened her mouth, looked at him vacantly, then closed it again, unsure of what to say. She considered what they had been saying, Go back home.....go back to that place......possibly see him again..... "I'll do it," she said, "I'll go back, but how are we going to get there?" She looked at Ryu again, and for the first time noticed his great resemblence to someone back home...

"Any ships bound for that area would be more than happy to provide transport for an acolyte and his charge," said Reitoku. "The would be especially willing to do so with someone of Ryushi's calibur helping them."
"And we'll start out search at the docks," continued Ryushi, standing up. "I thank you for your time, Father."
Reitoku smiled at the boy, and nodded. "You will find your proper robes and credentials in your room, as well as the vials."
Ryushi bowed. "I'll be waiting outside of the temple, then." And with that, he walked out, towards his own quarters.

Iro looked at the Priest, stood, and bowed low. "I thank you sir," she said softly, not quite sure what proper temple decorum was, "I suppose I now owe my life to you and your son..." the last two words sat drily ((sp?)) in her mouth, why hadn't Ryu come out and told her that he was the High Priest's son, why had he had to be so subtle and secretive about it? No matter, she thought to herself, there are things about me he'll never know, so why should I worry with what he doesn't tell me? She bowed once more to the Priest and started towards the door, not completely sure whether to follow Ryu, wait by the gates, or simply stay quietly outside the house in the courtyard.

Reitoku smiled amiably, waving. "It would be safest to wait for him in the courtyard, if you are truly in danger," he said.
Ryushi sat on his rolled up futon, holding the cloth of his robes in his lap, feeling their texture. No matter how smooth and soft they might be, they always felt uncomfortable on him. Maybe if they weren't temple robes...
He sighed, and pulled his informal clothing off his shoulders, letting them fall to the ground as he stood up. Vials clacked together as the cloth which once covered them was pulled away. With deft pulls and steps, he dressed himself, tying the knots with a grudging, practiced efficiency.
He then stooped down, and picked up several items, both disk-like in shape. One was the insignia for the temple, marking him as one of their own. The other had notches into which this fit, containing mana itself. He looked at this for a moment, before attaching the two and looping the string around his neck. Unlke the other vials and such around his neck, this he kept in the open, danging in the center of his chest.
He looked at himself in the mirror, disliking what he saw. He was not unattractive to the eye- in fact, he looked quite good in this clothing. It just... didn't suit him, in his own eyes. A sigh pressed from his lips as he slid the door open to the courtyard. The sun was now up, if only barely.

Iro sat in the courtyard, half waiting for Ryu, half reminicing ((sp?)) about her home. She sat up straighter as a side doorway opened and Ryu walked out, wearing temple garb. Iro bit her toungue at the sight of him, he looked perfect in the robes, but she could tell he was terribly uncomfortable. "So," she said, still in semi-shock from his good looks in both the sun rise and the temple robes, "what do we do now?"

"We look for a boat who'll take us to where we need to be. The docks are a while down the river. It'd be best to take a raft down the river," he said as he slipped his hands into his sleeves, crossing his arms.
"It's calm enough, and faster than walking," he explained, walking crisply over to Iro. He felt a bit uncomfortable in doing so, partly because the knife hidden in his belt was rubbing him awkwardly. He adjusted it and kept talking. "There should be one old man around now..." He looked to the west, down the river.
"Ah, there he is..." He began to walk out of the temple, towards an old man sitting on the shore next to a barge of sorts, loaded with food and other commodities.

Rose walked a bristly pace and could see the temple in the distance. As she came closer she noticed Ryushi and Iro. "Hey...wern't you the people in the temple." She looked back at her sister who was still a couple feet back and shrugged. As Serenity neared her sister she noticed a lady and a man dressed in robes. She watched as her sister said something and then shrugged. Serenity picked up her pace and grabbed her sister. She pulled her away roughly and looked back afraid. Rose gasped as her sister grabbed her and looked angrily at her. "Serenity what was that for! That was so rude...and it hurt..." She looked down at the ground with a confused look on her face. Her sisters face looked like she had seen a ghost and Rose did not like that. "Rose....I saw that girl before...when we were traveling looking for the amulet...well she was on a WANTED sign....she killed many people." Rose glared at her sister and let out a harsh laugh. "And you don't do the same thing every day! Serenity you know its bad to judge someone!"

Iro, following Ryu closely towards the dock and the man, heard a woman's voice come from close by, seemingly directed at them. When she turned, though, she saw nothing and continued walking, knowing full well that there was someone nearby. "Ryu," she said quietly, "there are people over there....I think we need to get out of here quick."
