Kaalnia – Alkidike Blade
Leader Tents: Shutting up Dissenters

”Yeah.” Kaalnia agreed, ”If you want to surrender, leave. Do it yourselves for all I care – you're free to do it.” she shrugged, ”Just remember that when you're not free to do anything but what the Obans tell you, 'kay?”

Ikkio – Shifter/Ice Prentice
Around: With Aysun, Chandra, Takoda, & Korra

A soul linker, huh. That was interesting... Not the path she was choosing, but he could probably still teach her some advanced spells, ones with real power. That was what she wanted, after all.

She looked down at the girl, perplexed – it was still odd to hold a child's hand in hers. They were so delicate, so fragile. Ikkio didn't like being careful.

Save him? From what? Not that Ikkio cared about the halfbreed's health, but she was curious as to what he was reading. ”Sure.” she said, standing up and reaching for the book, attempting to snatch it quickly from his hand.

Biroki – Shifter Sage
Supply tents: Making Potions with Padma

… That and the question ”Are things all right with your wife” hit far too close to home for Biroki.
He put on a smile, though, placing his problems with Zuri and his missing daughter aside as he took Padma's hand.

”Well,” he said, ”Your papa got hurt, and his face is still healing.” That had been quite a terrible event, and Biroki regretted how out-of-hand it had gotten. ”So we're making him a cream to make him feel better.” He set out the supplies, ”We're gonna grind up this thing...” he pointed to a root, ”Mix it with this,” he pointed to a special Tale herb, ”Put water in it,” he frowned, ”And you usually heat it up after, but he n-needs it now, so we'll just use hot water.” he thought out loud.

”... and it makes this goopy paste that will make him feel better.” he concluded, ”Wanna smash the root?” he asked, offering her the mortar and pestle. There were other tasks, but he was going to try them until he figured out what she wanted.

xxxxSupply Tents

It was like a heavy stone had lifted from his shoulders as Mella assured him she understood, her voice kind and almost soothing. Sure enough, the hand against his own was a balm, and the stroke of her fingers helped ease both his nerves and mind. He gazed at her, relieved and almost considering, but then the whispers broke through the happy bliss that had surrounded him, and his features quickly flattened, turning his eyes around towards those who whispered.

It truly wasn't the sort of talk that was good for morale. Mella's own apparent unease convinced him, and with a nod Uquin curled his arm, in turn, against Mella's and stepped with her from the supply tents, where many were assembling, due to it being so close to the leaders' tents, and the large beast and water woman who had assembled there. "Another girl?" Uquin echoed, but he was distracted, his eyes darting about the crowd. He saw stony faced, annoyed warriors, but also the few village militia who exchanged uncertain looks. It wasn't a convincing case, but when so many weren't sure if they'd come home, after the rampage the beasts had had before, and with such a diminished force, it was no wonder that such talk had a few parties second guessing their convictions.

With the atmosphere the way it was, Uquin shifted his arm out of Mella's grasp, and instead curled it around her waist, drawing her against his side and rubbing his fingers against her opposite shoulder, as if to warm her from a chill. "Mm. Pahana - she and my daughter Ujana were by the Healing Tents, but..." He looked around, frowning. "I don't know where they've gotten to." And wasn't that an admission he'd rather not make. He hoped Pahana was with Yaholo, at the least - if he was here, that is, because at least then he'd know she and Ujana were safe.

xxxxHealing Tents

Padma was just a child, but perhaps having a father who normally wasn't very expressive helped her read between the lines, at least a bit. So she noticed that Uncle Biroki seemed to be acting just a bit weird - but it wasn't enough to raise questions. Instead, she gave him a strange look, but held his hand until they got to the tents again, and went in to start making the 'goopy paste.' She wrinkled her nose, then looked around at the strange shapes and finally pointed at some berries, looking at Biroki curiously.

"Can I use these?" Not for papa's paste, of course, but for other, Padma-related things. Honestly she didn't have much interest in healing, or in mashing roots. If Biroki would let her entertain herself while staying in the tent, like a good girl, maybe they could both do what they wanted, since he was obviously babysitting her.

"Papa says to ask because some of them are bad for you - so can I?"

Bhima - post 2 /1

"It's near enough. A day or so's travel," Bhima nodded. Hijil had been near enough, but somehow still entirely out of reach. At the thought of finding her, the Alkidike smiled. It was still so warm and glorious to see her face, even after the time they had had together.

Atipi meanwhile was watching her sister. Oh? Were they going to be fed again? Ath certainly seemed to mean it, so the little green bird let out a loud chirp along with her sister, creating quite the ruckus. Chike winced.

"Just like real babies. Shhh, you two." She turned to the birds as if they could understand. Maybe they could? She gave a little wiggle to their ropes. Atipi got excited, and chirped and flapped at the other green woman. Food?!

Mella
Loction: with Uquin on way to healing tents
A very small whimper built in her throat when Mella could no longer hold onto Uquin. Being drawn to his side by his arm quieted it and made her relax a bit. She heard someone telling the dissenters to do whatever they wanted but not complain later when they lost it all. The arm closest to Uquin came rest cradling Telwren in her sash while her body used the vacant space to move closer to Uquin. He made her feel safe and more than that she enjoyed as much contact with him as she could get. Mella was a bit embarrassed by this but still she wasn’t particularly ashamed of it. “That’s good though. The healing tents are where we are headed anyway we can always find out if they are there or if they took to another part of the camp.” Her eyes flicked over the mass glad that Uquin had control over things here. Taking a deep steadying breath she glanced over the faces as she walked. So many of them were looking hard or even simply angry. Peeking up at Uquin showed his ace too was unnaturally tight and not simply due to the pain he must be in being half bandaged as he was. “Uquin I have been meaning to ask. What happened? The burn... Sorry if you don't want to speak of it, it's just the words Brioki said about it being his fault...” This would be a good distraction from the other conversation around them, though she heard more and more people saying to stand up and fight for what they knew which was nice. She rather hoped that the mother of Uquin’s girls was in the tent a part of Mella wanted to meet the woman and find out what she was like. Turning Uquin’s head seemed an awesome feat so the woman who was able to do such a thing must be astonishing as well. This line of thought was also distracting but not one she thought Uquin would want to talk about at the moment.

With how everyone was waiting on edge it was easy to say that people were itching for the war to get started. This was true with the hammer wielding woman who wanted nothing more than to go beat the snot out of the enemy and go home with her boys. As well yell at a certain someone for doing something very stupid.

Takoda looked to both his lover and Keilana. He felt himself ponder on the out come of the war. Would it be like last time? Would he be out for the count before he could help anyone? It was hard to say...he felt himself shift on the spot rubbing an arm as he listened to the people around them.

Borra perked at the idea of inviting the Matori people to join their troupe . It sure would add quite a exotic flavor to their merry little band. Maybe they had different kinds of music! Or dances! The sheer idea of learning new things, perhaps even with a new instrument was thrilling. He couldn't help but bounce on the tips of his toes while hugging Gyuri's arm it was easy to feel excited even with the threat of war looming over their heads. How he wished they could be anywhere else right now, working on hyms and song and dance. Rather than milling about waiting for the outcome of a war.

What he wouldn't give to be able to whisk his comrades away from all of this.

It was hard to judge how to take that sort of compliment, after all she didn't like Eira very much and it wasn't too...rewarding to have earned her 'doesn't consider to be competition' sort of attitude. Sure she wasn't big like Eira, but that didn't mean she couldn't win the affections of a man...right? No it was her personality that got in the way of that...

Chandra gave a look to the trio who were threatening to take his book away from him. The look betrayed every thought in his head, annoyance, anger and most of all not a shred of tolerance for his book being threatened. Even if it was by a small child and his idiot brother. Hands were reaching for his book, the one few things he cherished and he wasn't about to let them have it.

Taking a few steps backwards his book now firmly in his grasp he gave the three a sour look.

"Do you really think now is the time to be trying to stop me from reading?" He protested with such bitterness you'd swear he was just being angry for the sake of it.

Korra was perhaps too young and innocent to recognize when her cousin wasn't in the mood for fooling around. Not that Chandra ...ever was but still it wasn't in her nature to question what they were doing. Laughing at his comment she just went out to grab onto the boys leg and held on with all her might. She didn't weight much but she would be cumbersome to the boy.

"I got him I got him!" she crowed in triumph, "Hurry! Get the book!" It wouldn't take much to entertain the little one it seemed.

As Xilarn neared a throng of people in the center of camp, the suspicious mutters were almost completely blotted out by the shouting between a group of sava- ...Natives bickering amongst themselves. He drew closer, despite the obvious notion that he should do his best to keep away from the more volatile persons at the camp. Fortunately, he didn't have to walk within striking range to get this gist of the conversation.

One of the heftier Alkidike warriors was arguing with gusto against surrendering to the Obans. At one point, surrender would've been all Xilarn wanted. Easy, peaceful, no fighting, no one getting injured or killed... He abhorred the thought, now. As a part of their merry band of rag-tag soldiers, if they surrendered, the same fate would befall him. No, he wouldn't be a slave to his own people, but that wouldn't stop him from being permanently locked away for his traitorous behavior.

Even so, as the woman slandered the land she knew nothing about, Xil felt a tension curl in his gut that he hadn't expected to feel. What right did some foreigner have to disparage his home like that? He may not agree with Oba's methods, but that didn't mean he disagreed with their goals. And even if that was the issue, how could she paint every Fire Earthling as cruel and thoughtless and think nothing of it? Brows furrowed and shoulders tight, he opened his mouth.

Then closed it with a soft huff.

Even if he argued, no one would believe him. Never mind belief, if they even listened after taking one look at him, it'd be a complete miracle. With a snort, he whipped around, having no reasonable desire to be part of the conversation. He nearly crashed into the little girl standing directly at his back, squinting up at him with dark, speculative eyes.

"Hey, mister!" Her voice was distressing loud, and Xil jumped at the noise and cast a helpless glance over his shoulder at Kennet. She pointed up at him, her black eyes narrowing with what the Oban man assumed was the native's 'warrior spirit.' "I watched you sneak in." She couldn't have been more than six or seven, certainly not old enough to be the first one to confront him. Tiny green fists curled. "And you don't belong here." When she leapt at him, Xil caught her easily, and couldn't help but think her antics would be adorable if they weren't so incredibly conspicuous.

Vollerei : Warrior. Location: Supply tents
post 8 (2/2)

Vollerei, her eyes glaring at the dissenters heard a child's voice saying something... interesting. She flickered her eyes over and stiffened. There was an Alkidike child attacking a cloaked figure... one that bore the colors of an Oban! Cloaks didn't do much when a child pulled at it to reveal what lay beneath!

She growled under her breath and moved towards them a lot faster than one would expect from someone with her bulk. She wanted to kill it... but it was in their camp... which was rather stupid... Maybe it had a death wish? But it was a potential source of information... she could always kill it after the leaders interrogated it! Either way that child was in danger! But a brave girl, she thought with an inner smile; even an Alkidike child was willing to fight an Oban!

Her fist swung around and clocked the side of Xil's head as her foot hit his ankle to send him tumbling to the ground. She planted a foot on his chest and leaned in, putting her full weight on him.
"What have we here? You're rather obvious for a spy.... Here to try and attack our leaders as an assassin?" Why else was he trying to get to the tent? A spy would not be so obvious.. but maybe an assassin would...
She glared at the half breed that had been with it, what was ... he doing just letting an Oban into the camp with no restraints?! Idiot!
PostPosted: Thu Oct 23, 2014 9:00 pm

There was a stirring of unrest amount the people who had gathered, after all they had been voicing their opinion only to have it shot down. Not everyone was strong, not everyone was brave. Some just felt that perhaps...under the Oban's rule things wouldn't be so bad. They would be alive at least.
More voices joined in the chastising, causing the ones who had spoken out to back away although one in particular seemed to be getting angry.

"Easy for you to say, you can fight! We are just normal people, we lost before against those beasts of theirs, how can you be so confidant this ..this creature brought to us by the unknown Matori to be of any use!?" It was obvious that their spokesperson had little faith in these new comers and her outburst only gained nods of agreement from the rest who were against fighting.
Enough was enough. The woman astride her water beast turned it around so that it would face the ones who were thinking of giving up, her body shook with anger hearing how these people would be so willing to give up their freedom just in order to live.

"The Oban people will enslave only those they deem useful...if you cannot fight you will be put to work in mines, or worse. They will break your spirit, and if your spirit cannot be broken they will then break the very body you intend to keep alive. Keep that in mind when your so willing to give up before even trying to fight." Naria's voice was cold as she regarded the people around her. Those who had spoken up against the naivety of the commoners she regarded with a small nod of her head.

"I will see if preparations are complete..." She managed before gently nudging the ribs of her Yaotl sending the beast forward. Naria wanted to find Antiope and see what they were waiting for.

Hijil – Shifter Guard
Supply tent – /with Bhima and her mother

Ath wiggled, letting out an indignant, high-pitched squawk before reluctantly quieting. She didn't want to shush. Her sister was shushing, though, and if food was incoming, then she couldn't peep and eat at the same time. Instead, she settled for fluttering and staring meaningfully at the older green woman. Food?

A day or so... Perhaps it ws the lit settlement she saw from the roof of her coastal home. Or, perhaps, she was only seeing some small sattelite village. It was hard to tell for her: they all seemed huge to her.

"Well..." she said, awkwardly, "We should... get ready." she looked over at Bhima. Her smile was infectious - Hijil couldn't help returning one. It was the sort of smile that stuck around too, remaining present even as she faced the source of her awkwardness. "It was good to meet you." she said to Bhima's mother, somehow managing not to sound like she was blurting it out. She didn't want to move to the armory and be rude, but... she was starting to feel overwhelmed...

Kaalnia – Alkidike Blade
Supply tents: Xilarn and Volle

Heh. Look at that kid was Kaalnia's first thought. Fierce kids were cute: Kaalnia had been one herself, though she hadn't been an angry one. It was a nice distraction from the whiny idiots over by the leader's tent.

It took her a while to notice the person the kid was attempting to fight, and longer still to realize he was an...

Oban!

She reached for her spear, concerned, as the chunk (Dat a**) alkidike confronted him. "What's going on here?" she said, jabbing a finger back at the group of dissenters who, hopefully, had gotten the idea, "This your doing, redeyes?" she asked, "Because, if so, I'm gonna kick your a** for it."

Clearly he wasn't a spy - or much of one, so maybe he was a false traitor to his own people, getting into their camp and spreading lies? That was a thing, right? How awful.

Biroki – Shifter Sage
Sleeping Tents: Making potions with Padma

"Er..." Well, it was a shame that Padma didn't want to help him with the stuff, but as long as she was occupied and happy, Biroki (and probably her father too) would be satisfied. "That depends." he said finally, "What do you want to use them for?"

He hoped she didn't want to eat them - she didn't seem like the sort of child who stuffed random things in her mouth. These weren't deadly poisonous berries, but they were not meant to be eaten.
