OOC NOTE

The Increasing DoT increases personally for your character. So YOUR first roll is -1, your second roll is -2

Maebe's lips were frozen on her glass, and the rest of her was pretty immobile as well. She'd seen the two of them come closer, but since it was Ian and Shiloh, she did not try to flee. She just waited for the inevitable complaint that oh, she was being anti-social, and oh, she should go meet people and maybe talk to Ian more and oh-

Oh.

Oh.

And this was where she was, at the moment. Frozen, staring at her best friend kissing the guy she thought he was trying terribly to set her up with. Except, he wasn't, she realized. This was why she'd introduced her to Ian. It was both a relief, and a sinking, lonely realization.

But even that thought couldn't remain, because damn, Shiloh, damn. Maebe's head tilted just slightly, and finished taking her sip.

This was a good corner.

That one, he called her. That one. Like one out of a hundred others. It filtered through her hazy mind until it hit tinder and sparked, igniting her body into action.

Down went several more flies, but it didn't matter. The anger was still there, slowly poisoning her. But what was she going to say? Don't talk to him? Ignore him? How often had those tactics worked when Stormy had employed them?

Her gaze flipped between them, irritated Jack wasn't even looking her way.

A bad idea it was indeed. The basement was under siege yet, in their remote corner, the battle hadn’t yet made its way to them, and to be perfectly honest, Shiloh was tired of playing hero to an island that didn’t need one. Not to mention that he was rightly intoxicated, which made making out in a creepy dungeon, in the face of danger, seem infinitely more important than it ever should have been. Logic had been washed away with the last swish of alcohol in his mouth and he was determined to be incredibly selfish.

Which he managed by meeting Ian’s lips without hesitation, pulling the Mist Hunter against him as he leaned back against the wall. His eyes were closed, and he was thoroughly enjoying himself, and Ian’s hands on him, and decidedly not caring, about anything but the warm bodies next to him...

Wait a minute.

Lip-locked and his arms still wrapped around Ian, his gaze slid to his right.

"s**t."

He pulled his ducky hood over his head as fast as he possibly could, and then did his best to hide against Ian, as though Maebe might somehow suddenly suffer from short term memory loss, and forget who he was, and what costume he’d been wearing or the fact that he wasn’t, in fact, hidden at all. The drunken giggles coming from beneath the hood certainly wouldn’t give him away either.

There were many shows around where Milo stood. Behind him, in a corner, a make out session and potential drama and in front of him the perils of battles against yet more flies. And a bunch of people had left, Chel and Nevada included. But, Milo was determined to finish his drink before he decided which way to go.

Most likely the battle really. Potential romantic drama really wasn't his thing (personal stuff, blah) and joining the fray seemed a little more up his alley, fighting just seemed easier. Not like he had anywhere to go either, if nothing was done about the flies... well, life would just get terribad. (His room was like two steps away... and the bugs... down the hall. Logic). Milo sighed into his cup and downed the rest of the whiskey in one go and then made a face.

Then took his time heading down the hall.

Oh. Bugs. That would explain why Harrison had made the sound he'd made. Bugs were not his strong point. Bugs weren't particularly Jordan's strong point either, but at least these were big bugs, easier to swing at and squash rather than the tiny kind that could swarm you and crawl on you and get into your -

Stop that, Ferros interrupted that train of thought, half annoyed, half concerned.

Stopping that, Jordan answered, pushing the mental images away with a spine shudder of horror. He dropped the book he'd been carrying by way of a prop and summoned Ferros instead, moving past Harrison to get between him and the bugs and bring Ferros down in a short, powerful arc onto a cluster of the flies. "We'll get this under control," he said.

He glanced back over his shoulder to assess how much backup there was. More than he would have expected. That was good. They'd have to make sure to stay out of the way of the long-ranged weapons.

They were joined by backup on all sides and Rep found himself exhaling in relief. It wasn't that he didn't think he could take the massive hive potentially, but it was mostly an issue of hardly being able to swing in the close and confined spaces, ideally his technique relied on a great deal of airtime and leaps - none of which were possible down here.

It took all his effort just to avoid inflicting damage on the others trying to back them up.

Some more unfortunate flies found themselves rendered half-flies by the fallen angel ad Rep made a face at the pretty disgusting sound that resulted and the still twitching legs and wings which continued long past the point of reasonable cessation.

Al followed Jordan and the horrified screams for help that seemed like Harrison's voice but there was just no way. When he emerged into the room, his eyes fell upon Harrison first; the source of the screams and then the source of the buzzing noise that seemed to cause the screaming. Oh. MY. GOD.

Al couldn't help a little giddy squeak. "So cute." He saw them writhe and flutter and clatter and click. "Oh my god. Do... do I really have t-?" Then Jordan and Rep were killing them. He instantly wilted. "But... they didn't... ******** took a swing at a fly - knocking it out cold with Nuru, "S-sorry". He apologised to the poor unfortunate insect.

Ian had decided that he was having a very good time at this party after all, thank you very much. And even with the threat of danger hanging over his head, he decided there were much more important things to be done - what was the saying? C'est la vie? That was life, and that whole you only live once thing as well, so he might as well make the most of it.

Which he was most definitely doing.

Ian smiled against Shiloh's lips, his arms tight around his waist, Shiloh's arms around his neck, which was very pleasant. One of Ian's hands lifted, cradling Shiloh's face in his hand as he sank into the kiss, which, in spite of being given to him by a very drunk Shiloh, was enthusiastic and delightful.

At least until they both simultaneously realized their "unoccupied" corner was not so unoccupied after all.

Ian let out a string of curses that was muffled by Shiloh's hooded head as he curled against him, giggling madly, and he wrapped his arms around Shiloh's shoulders as though this might somehow block him from Maebe's view, in spite of the bright yellow and orange sweatshirt.

There was a moment of awkward silence. And then -

"Hey, Maebe," said Ian lightly, as though he had not just been caught making out with Shiloh in a dark corner.

Another pause, and then he added, a bit softer, "Please don't tell anyone."

Hearing the name Lina coming from Jack's mouth made Gale slightly sick. He twisted around, the gun still in hand, and without even hesitating, without stopping, swung the rifle up so that the barrel was directed at Jack's chest, mere inches away.

The look on Gale's face was thunderous.

"That one," he said, in a low, barely controlled voice. "has a name. And it's not Lina."

Without taking his eyes off of Jack, Gale spun the rifle to the side and fired off several more shots, echoing in the compacted dungeon and sounding like miniature cannon fire. He supposed he could have kept more control over himself, been as calm and collected as he usually was, but Jack had a way of getting under his skin, of making him infuriatingly, irrationally angry.

The gun was back at Jack's chest.

"And I don't need nor want your advice, by the way."

The briefest look of surprise flashed in his eyes at the sight of the long barrel mere inches from him, but to his credit Jack didn't do much else; maybe that was the alcohol talking. Or maybe he really didn't believe Gale would shoot him: all noise and no bullet for the sake of looking tough. He could understand that--be annoyed with the dramatics, sure, but understand nevertheless.

It was far more irritating, though, that he was more accomplished as a fighter than Jack.

"Hell of a rifle," he complimented, and dared to tap it once with his finger; Owain made a disgruntled noise in his head. "But no need to get so worked up. It's your loss if you want no insight, kid, but I would still suggest at least trying a little harder: if the Sahara was any evidence..." He trailed away and lazily struck at a passing fly, trying to catch some of its body fluids in his cup.

She felt vaguely ill: a combination of drinking and fighting and these words that kept coming out of his mouth. How chaotic was this cramped room? Was it possible to accidentally strike someone on purpose? Thane seemed to like the idea, but even with impaired judgment Stormy knew her partner always advocated violence and was wary.

"Not like you could have done better," she retorted as she sliced at a wounded fly, trying not to gag at the smell. "Why don't you go join the bugs, Jack? Thought those were your family."

"Not even a 'happy birthday'?" She bristled as he sighed. "You couldn't have forgotten me that much, Lina."

"Only thing someone's forgetting here is the we're in the middle of a battle and maybe you should just shut up and fight."
