"Oh! Right! Sorry." Tsukiko said, smiling faintly. "I'm not really good with names. Or remembering much, really... Thanks." She tentatively nibbled on what Billy offered her. Fright Night... big noisy and crowded festival. Almost like this one, but no booths. At least she was able to avoid having her tail trampled by hiding here (and it was less crowded under the table as well, in spite of the addition of the boil joining her).
"I still have that plushie. Somehow it's managed to escape my Cluppy's teeth. Probably the other plushies keep it occupied..." She couldn't remember most important things, but somehow the most random things were easily remembered.

Peering out of the dense mane of hair, Catori glowered at Billy before nipping at the food in Tsukiko's hand. "Ah! Catori... I was eating that... Billy, this is Catori. A demon gave her to me. Something about atonement for their ancestors..."

It felt good, being on a mission again. It wasn't a violent one, something which she regretted marginally, but just being on an external mission soothed the rising tempest of her restless soul, quelling that incessant rushing that filled her mind, the sound like wind against her ears. That maddening sound had grown louder and louder the longer she'd been cooped up in that hospital bed, ebbing at her patience, until she could have killed the first person who happened to talk to her that day, sans Robert. It was only at that point, where she thought she might go postal, that a life nurse had approached her bedside, completely oblivious to the inherent danger she had been in, and had given her medical leave to return to her dorm. In fact, it had been on her way to the dorm that she had gotten the text announcing the external mission, only then reminded what day it was.

Halloween. Those creatures' favorite holiday. The perfect chance to extort untold information from the denizens of the disgusting world, to be used against them in any way they possibly could. She hadn't even stopped to her dorm before making a b-line to the life labs, tapping a few numbers on a screen before sliding into a pod, closing her eyes and awaiting the inevitable wakeup in the world of monsters.

Fluttering her wings, Petra hovered a few feet off the ground as she meandered through the crowd, ink-black eyes sliding over the crowded square with a dark, foreboding look. Ironically, a few feet off the ground was only eye-level for even the shortest of human -- at three feet tall, her golem was practically miniature, the grey-skinned pixie standing only a head above most individual's hips. Not that she minded. The black, leathery wings compensated for it, allowing her to fly above the crowd, if necessary, giving her a potential vantage point. In addition, she was nearly silent as she flew, and could fit into the smallest of shadows. Yes, this was an excellent golem for a Death hunter, and the Intermediate trainee relished in it... well, as much as a deadpan girl could relish something.

Scanning the surrounding area, Petra paused as the pumpkin exploded, watching candy and silver seeds rain down. With a flick of her wings, she narrowly avoided the flying debris, comparatively large for the tiny pixie, watching as it fell to the cobblestones before she swooped down, scooping a few up, slipping them into a black pouch at her waist.

Alexander waited for Mort to respond to his question, with a small hope that maybe the other zomboil could shed some light on what exactly had happened, and how they had gone from wherever..to here. But it seemed that it was not to be, and he felt small pang of disappointment, hands coming up so that his palms were pressed against his now closed again eyelids.

"Arrrgggggghhhh...." It was a low moan of frustration as he tried to concentrate past the noise, past the joviality of the crowds and the Fear that hung thick and heavy in the air. He wanted to know, needed to know what had happened.

"Five, I guess, yes." That seemed right, in a way, though for some reason it felt like it had more to do with the number four. But the card had five faces, not four, and all of them were recognizable, even if one was only a vague recollection. Ayemet, Shehk, Mort, and the other that he did not know the name of. What did they all have in common? His mind wandered back to the shard in his pocket.....

"I don't know. I don't know what we should do." He probably sounded a bit whiny, but mostly it was just frustration laced with a desperate need for answers. He let his hands drop back down to his sides, and he turned, and let his gaze sweep across the crowds, looking for more familiar faces, possibly the faces of those others who had been in the card, but for now he could see nothing. One hand slipped back into this pocket, fingering the crystal, brushing past it to something else. A flat, round object, somehow it was always warm...

...The zomboil was hit hard by a sudden feeling of deja vu, and a stark memory came clear to his mind while his pale eye widened. And it didn't end there. No, they just kept coming, everything, absolutely everything. Alexander reached out to clutch at Mort's arm as his knees began to buckle. This was..no, he had wanted the memories, but no..this was so much more, and so much of it was so horrible...

Cleaning up the Fright Night festival grounds. Foot prints that appeared and disappeared. A sudden fog, with figures. Students transforming. Amrita...Yin...

The zomboil let out a gasp and squeezed his eyelids shut against the imagery, but it didn't stop.

Going to an exam, getting caught up in the fog, fighting a figure born of insanity. Rescued by a teacher. Returning to the fog despite knowing what could happen...

His grip on Mort's arm tightened, his brow creasing further as his limbs began to tremble.

Losing both Mort and Belladonna to the fog. Lost, alone....And then Yin. He had changed Yin back, but then the other boil had asked Alex to kill him. He hadn't wanted to do it, had tried to protest, but in the end....

He would never forget the feel of it, or the sound Yin's neck had made when it snapped.

Alex let go of Mort and let himself fall onto his knees on the ground, arms wrapping around his midsection as he curled forward.

Maggie and Chryses had found him, lying on the ground in the fog. They had been attacked. Alex's body had been ripped in half. But he had come back, the fog didn't managed to take him like it had his friends. They had kept fighting....

Alex's body was shuddering violently from his position on the ground. He had wanted this, but it was awful, and having it all rush upon him like this was nigh unbearable.

More fog, more desolation. Just him and Maggie though eventually he had lost her as well. A stairway. Hunters. Red's return, though he hadn't known it to start with. Fighting with Yin against her, defeating her monstrous form...

The fog had taken him. Had turned him into a
weapon. He had been used to fight against his friends. He had bit into them with his blade, tasted their blood and Fear. Xiu, Yin, Belladonna, and even some others that he didn't know...

The zomboil retched violently, but he had nothing in his stomach to bring up, so they were just dry heaves, painful, almost as painful as the memories that continued to bombard him.

He had come back. Yin was there. Red came back. They protected her, but she had turned them away. She had taken Mort, had drained him into nothing and then Yin had told him to walk away, had tried to shield him from harm....

And then Mort had come back, and Alexander had gotten an idea....

He had left Yin, had gone to Red, had talked to her and then had gone to Aymet and Mort for their help with what she needed from them. Their Fear crystals. They could help Red, and they would be able to come back as Mort had. Probably. That had been the hope, at least. He had asked them to trust him, had said his goodbyes to Yin....sort of. Red had taken their crystals. She had their power. She had howled, long and loud.....

Everything began to fade, and with it an overwhelming sense of regret had enveloped him. And then it became peaceful. Quiet.

Darkness

"We...we died." Alex gasped from his trembling position on the floor. "I think we died...we...but I think...we won." They must have won, right? They were here. The students were here.

"I...I need..." What did he need? He was still shaking, still hunched up into himself, kneeling on the ground. His eyelids were still closed.

He retched again.

Jude's answer made Robert give him a critical glance. Maybe he was actually considering killing him. Jude could always be counted on to do the dirty deeds. Robert would remember that.

He gave the golem that sounded like Gale a withering stare. He had a few choice words for the boy, except that he seemed to have some problems of his own.

"Yeah, and you seem to have grown." He answered, smirking proudly at finding an alternative to pounding the stupid out of him. At least they were the same size - Robert couldn't stand the idea of Gale looking down at him.

Hearing Eva's voice come out of the tall demon male, however, made Robert a little unsettled. At least she was trying to compliment him - though it was clearly just to make him feel better.

"Thanks, sweetheart." Robert muttered, brooding heavily and refusing to look up at her(him).

Freya backed off when her sister got between them, and sighed sharply at Hel's antics. Why was she so touchy about her playing with Shun? Was she ******** him TOO? That would have been messed up, actually.. Freya doubted her sister would go that far. Mitsu was too sweet a ghoul, and she couldn't see her sister doing that to her.

Except that Hel was making a bad name for herself, in her sisters eyes, nowadays. She was already threatening to tell Kettil things, and Freya turned to stare at her, mouth slightly open.

"Shun, I thinks our swordfights will has teh waits." She said, while staring at her sister. She walked over, grabbed the ghoul by the collar, and tugged her closer. "Crumpet?" She seethed out through clenched teeth. "Can I talks teh yeh for a moment? Alone?"

She sounded remarkably pissed - but not the kind of pissed that made her scream and yell. The real kind of pissed. The kind that Freya didn't often manage.

The cheering woke him up out of his daze. Mostly.

Aymet didn't remember how he'd ended up here, or where here even was. He didn't know why it was so dark, and faintly orange, with only the barest glimpse of bright lights and smiling faces as far as his limited vision could show. He was in the middle of a crowd, but... why couldn't he remember why?

At this point he was starting to get jostled a bit, people bumping into him and threatening to snap off his wings or tail with their enthusiasm to get wherever they were going. He felt fabric between his claws as he reached out to feel his way around. They kept throwing off his train of thought, forcing him to keep stopping and wonder why he was so confused in the first place.

To everyone else, it looked like a guy in full armor with a pumpkin on his head was just waiting in the middle of a busy walkway.

Finley nudged his wife. "See. He likes your cooking." Ailsa did not smile, but pursed her lips, still looking Barth over.

At Barth's question, they both smiled. "Very, yes." Calder's mother said, liking the loud commotion all around her and all the sounds of laughter.

"We come each year. It's a nice way to spend the end of the Fear gathering together." He nuzzled his wife. They often went gathering together.

As Barth talked to his parents, Calder spotted Malodore in the crowd and started waving and calling out to him. "Malodore! Hey! Hey Mal! Over here!" He called out, jumping in place to try and flag his friend down.

The stories Canon freely told of her family and their exploits delighted Riley. She was further delighted when the ghoul invited her to meet said family, though the mention of melting dampened her enjoyment a bit.

I would be happy to come, and thankful for that antidote. I'm honored that you would invite me to see your family, Canon. I wish I could offer the same in return, but my hive does not allow, or appreciate, visitors. No antidote in the world would save you, there. She chuckled quietly.

You mentioned that your arrival at Amity is recent. How long exactly have you been here? Is this your first official event attended as a student?

Jude's response to Robert's critical glance was a simple benign smile that showed fangs (couldn't be helped). Him? Consider killing Robert just to help him out of his misery? Nah. Not in a million years. Not even in three billion of them.

Okay. Maybe a little.

Jude just offered Gale and Eva a smile as well and just sort of fidgeted in place, "So what are we going to do?" He was carefully trying to appear 'care free' and 'youthful'.

Hel’s grin fell. Why? Because Kettil wasn’t getting riled. Damn. The reaper instantly dropped whatever bit of credit he had managed to build with Hel, simply because he wouldn’t rise to her baiting. Hel was kind of missing Herryk now. Herryk would explode and turn after something she said…

It was a vicious game Hel liked to play.

The ghoul’s attention was soon taken though, as Freya grabbed the collar of her tunic and pulled her in, seething. Hel’s eyes narrowed as she scrutinized her sister’s face and tone. Hm. This was a first. She never had that tone used on her by Freya before…and she was ready to bring it.

Freya, we are in a crowd of hundreds if not thousands…how can we be alone?” She snarked.

Christof had been laying low. He was often a lurker, keeping to the shadows and outskirts, as was proper for an Igor but today even moreso. While everyone was celebrating, rejoiceing in reuinions with their loved ones and the recent emergencies past, and the great Fearful holiday, he could tell by the burning in his mouth...

He was here.

Mismatched eyes kept a sharp lookout at the shadows, any sign of the man. But... there were too many people here. He wouldn't- Dr. Fell was not a fan of crowds. He was not a fan of so many people and their contaminated Parts and... surely he wouldn't... surely he had given up on his project by now? Christof had not contacted home in a long, long time. But had Dr. Fell still been watching?

At his ankles, Scruff sniffed about the ground, finding several shiny things he sniffed at and swallowed happily.

Alex's initial response was not comforting. Why was it so hard for them to remember? Had something messed with their Fear while they were out or dead or whatever it was that had happened? "Mrrr . . ." His face creased with a frown as he tilted the jack-o-lantern all the way off his head, letting it fall with a small splat by his sneakers; he was tiring of the smell and had a hoodie that could work just as well, which he quickly put up. Something to cover his head so that he didn't feel so suddenly naked.

Something told him he needed to step up once the other zomboil professed not knowing what to do, but before Mort could speak he found his arm being gripped tightly. Making a small startled noise, he steeled himself so that Alex didn't drag him down as well, watching as he wilted to the ground in a sudden fit that gave Mort a jolt of panic. Was he remembering something? Then . . . why did he look like he wished he hadn't?

All Mort could do was stare helplessly and tensed, waiting until the spell seemed to be at an end and the zomboil was able to speak again, and when he did Mort's eyes widened in shock and disbelief. And yet even so, something in him confirmed what Alex had said - a tiny part, but something nevertheless able to quell the rise in doubt. For a moment Mort sputtered as he tried to grasp the meaning behind two simple words.

"D-Dead dead? Like . . ." Not dissipation? Literal, unequivocal, permanent death? The fire in his nerves suddenly chilled, and his legs of steel suddenly turned too brittle to support him; he too lowered down to the ground, hunched over and bewildered - and more than a little visibly frightened. The card had not been a trick.

If so, then . . . how were they back? Already, even in its weakened state, the cogs in his brain were whirring to thread theories together. Where were the others while they were at it? The ghoul . . . the ghoul, her name was . . . Shehk. He only got to know her briefly in class, but he had never known she was an Initiate. And Ay-- Ay . . . s**t. Mort pressed a hand to his temple and winced with effort in remembering. And the boil with the strange markings on his face . . .

Something clicked: silver engraved with the very markings on his face. A pair of voices warm and cold, male and female, screeching with laughter - and a name, a name being sung with crazed ardor as the air whizzed past him -

He rapped two knuckled against his head and growled softly, his expression caught between frustration and trepidation at the sudden mental block. Maybe his brain was working more than he thought; it wouldn't let him access everything in one go. It was . . . probably best so that both of them wouldn't have a meltdown, but the feeling of something on the tip of his tongue continued to plague him. His other hand stretched out to touch Alex's shoulder, his voice shaky. "N-Need . . . a moment to pull selves together," he finished. "D'ja memory get jogged?"

Because he had to understand why in Halloween would they die die to win something.

Kettil blinked a little bit watching the Sisters wander off. He wondered what had gotten Freya all riled up - clearly that was the case. Kettil didn't need to get upset at least not visibly, because Freya took care of all that for him. He fidgeted at his gloves and let them go off and do whatever they needed to.

It was probably because he trusted Freya so implicitly that the baiting that Hel had attempted just didn't work or perhaps he was just too focused on being called a toy that all the play was gusted out of him, though now he was quickly forgetting that little event even took place.

He'd have to ponder other entertainment...HM.
