Broog was one of those people he really didn't relish to take on. He could remember a time when he was younger and tried something similar to this with the ogre. Turned out that no matter how sneaky you are getting to the target, it doesn't do any good if they can easily grab you, overpower you, and then introduce your face to the dirt. Needless to say, Khai knew when to stop. But here he was again, joining the ogre down in the sand. "At this rate, I'm not going to have to think about having my own kids any time soon. Have enough little siblings to last for a long time."

She prefered to see the ogre in his more childish mannerisms. After all, seeing him in such a light only helped her remember things long ago that she'd never forget. Though these days she tried not to dwell on old things that still bothered. It wasn't hard with a little necromancer running around, which she caught the girl by the wrist and pulled her into the seat Piper sat down in next to Malik. "Please stay up here until you know what's going on, okay?" Getting a nod from the child she turned her attention to the last set of footsteps that eventually ended with Kieran sitting down as well with them.

"So, what are we doing today? I don't think I'm up for more surprises..."

"Broog is going to demonstrate with Khai that chain thing he was talking about before. I take it your conversation with the old dragon was not as pleasant as I had hoped?"

before glancing at his daughter.

"Okay now I want you to try and see what broog is doing. so pay attention. I want to see how much you can get about what is going on."

Before giving his nod to broog to go on ahead.

Broog gave Malikhai a grin.

"Yous have kiddies. Da Elves Always haves kiddies."

before his arm shot forward flicking his wrist and the chain went sailing in a line, momentum shooting it off his arm and grabbing the chain at one point and swinging it to the side as well in a huge arc while summoning it back like a whip by snapping his wrist up and the other and the other snapping the chain to the side and slinging it forward in a similar arc, effectively covering a near 180 degrees in front of him with heavy swinging chain.

"Pleasant or unpleasant isn't exactly the nature of it all I would say. Truth is just sometimes hard to accept, even if it is one we find we would call good under normal circumstances." Which got a look to Piper as well before he brought his attention back to the happenings in the arena. "Should be interesting. Remember to duck Khai."

"Good advice, yes. Though I question the effectiveness of it this time. Someone bring me my other sword." He had long taken up duel weilding by now, having liked playing with the techniques. This time however he was playing it safe. Easier to block some with two weapons against two rather than trying to manage two with one. He had to chuckle at Broog's comment however. "The ever wise Broog. But that's for later." Watching as the ogre started into his motions...okay yes, that was impressive. Hopefully he didn't suffer a beat down too badly.

Try to see of course must have meant try to see in her special way she did. Well okay she could try. So she turned her attention to teh blips of life energy in front of her, watching the larger one flex in motions as her ears twitched to the sound of metal clinking together. She wasn't quite sure what she was supposed to be seeing but she kept watching and paying attention. "I don't see anything special..." Saying it a little more angry than upset though. And superficially squinting then as if that would help her pay attention.

Broogs chains whipped around moving his arms and body in odd little contortions, even seemingly to show off by letting the chains sail under his legs or twisting his body a bit...though an experienced fighter would notice all the seemingly odd motions or showing off was also keeping the chains gathering and using momentum to keep speed and force going fairly strong. the whip like motions threatened to entangle hands, feet, arms or legs, and trying to get in too close was difficult with the constantly flow of the chains around their wielder. and as he'd shown in the opening motions, he was more then able to fire those weights in a straight line, and enough force and enough weight he could break bone and tenderize flesh.

Made one wonder what someone could do with all the various hooks and blades sets that Tremor had crafted.

Malik was afraid of that. but he had a suggestion.

"Broog is fighting using chains. if you can hear them, see if you can gauge where they are going, how they are moving."

"I think I'm, starting to have a flashback."

Which got her a clap on the shoulder from her father with a light chuckle. "You think too hard." And yes he already had a journal out and was scratching things down on its pages, simple things did tend to do it for him.

Khai on the other hand found that he wasn't getting to do much more than dodge chains and weights as best he could as he played demonstration target. Broog may not move fast but he could make those chains go a mile a minute. Every now and then using the flat of a blade to deflect chain wrapping but it never seemed to matter to the ogre. Yeesh, did not want to be on the bad side of this guy.

She looked to her father as he tried to give her a bit of explanation. That explained the metal sounds she was hearing and the slight musical quality to it all. Another superficial look back to the arena, using her ears more this time. It took her a bit of time but soon enough her head was moving in small tracking motions when the chains were flung out verses when they were brought back. That and something else the chains had started to take on that same glow as the weilder and she was starting to be able to see then whip[ing motions. Which prompted and smile and giggle as she continued to 'watch'.

Broog's chainwork was something, and who knows how long the ogre had worked on and perfected this technique. and he wasn't trying to injure Malikhai or even cause him damage. But he knew when enough was enough. and after several more minutes of making Malikhai dance around, Broog snapped back and forward both wrists hard. the chains whipped back high in the air and swiped down, the weights hitting the dirt not too far from malikhai and almost touching. someone under those would probably have their heads caved in.

Now would have looked like a perfect opening. the chains extended and in the dirt. but another hard snapping on his wrists and the chains, like a whip, snapped back on themselves and to their owner, broog catching the chain ends in his hands a little under the weights.

Now he had chain around his person, and the weights could still be used close combat like clubs.

Malik was impressed. unlike how most thought, broog was not an inheritance or raised from childhood slave. Broog had been an acquirement. and cheap becuase of his seeming retardation. Of course it had turned out to be more of an autism, as while broogs childlike mind had made him a poor Breaker...the precision and delicate work of jewelcraft had been simple for him. this method of fighting seemed to appeal to that side, as using the chains in that manner also required a precise knowledge of where and how they were moving at all times.

Though watching his daughter seem to catch the motions and movements with a little effort and then her smiles and giggles as she obviously had been able to do what she'd been asked. this method might work for her as well. you didn't have to see the chains, you just had to know how they were moving. the demonstration had shown that. broog hadn't taken his eyes from Malikhai and yet was able to control and wield the weapons easily enough. Yes, this could work to give his daughter a powerful and effective defense if her magics didn't cover it.

Khai stood still at the end, knowing that it was better not to move. And he looked at heavy weights in the sand on either side of him, shaking his head. "Again remind me to never be on the opposing side of any war you are involved in. It wouldn't be a pretty way to go."

She was still happily watching the movements that she was able to see and hear, following the motions some. Following was easy with the sound and heat taken on by the weapon allowing her to track it but when things slowed or stopped for moments she was finding herself a little lost, having to reorient herself when things started again.

Seeing as the action was over she turned herself around to look at her father as he was asking more things of her. He seemed so full of questions lately. It was a little odd to be getting all this attention from him but it was nice. "I could do that too?" Well that was extra exciting wasn't it? So she gave him a nod despite him not answering her own question yet.

"Yeah you're right. But still. Better to be safe than sorry sometimes hm?"

"We can try to teach you. But I bet it will not be very easy for you to learn. But we can always try it, with your mother's permission."

looking over at Kieran.

"Did you enjoy the show?"

Broog gave a simple nod and rewrapped the chains...probably another drawback to them but really if you were wrapping them back up probably everyone around you was dead, dying, or unconcious anyway....before heading back to the work below. more shinies to make and metal to etch and engrave.

Of course the conditional statement instantly meant that the child was all but climbing her mother, tugging and nuzzling and what not all at the same time. Yes she was trying to butter her mother up with affection and pleads. To which Piper was more amused than anything, she had to admit it was better to see her daughter wanting to do something than quietly sitting somewhere in one spot and not moving from it until someone told her to do something. "Yes, yes, you can try to do it."

He was still making a few notes but turned his attention over to Malik at his questioning. "There is nothing quite like a demonstration of prowess to make the little boy in me squeal with joy. I will say, quite impressive."

"now the fun part. trying to figure out how to teach someone physically blind how to do that. Broog might be the best teacher but I'm not sure he'd be able to handle that. I'm hoping that Piper's expertise with whips and such might help more. You know anyone that practices anything remotely similar to that fighting style?"

Glancing at his daughter and his wife.

"Alright then we'll add it to your studies. remember your still learning your necromancy. we're not trading one for the other, and if we have to give one up, this is what will give up. necromancy studies first."

"Only ones I would guess that were good at something like that that I know, would be Obsidians. Ask Sevilin maybe? He probably knows something or other about it. I don't know anyone personally. Piper and myself could always give a hand at it. Train the feel but adding a weight to the end of a whip, learn into that and then replace with chain."

She was a happy happy child right now and she gave her mother another nuzzle before sliding off of her and daddy got one as well. This was so exciting! She was doing so much new stuff. "Necromancy first. When can I start?" Ever so eager child.
PostPosted: Sun May 30, 2010 3:52 pm

Oh wouldn't that be amusing.

"Sevilin hmm? you think he'd know about this kinda thing..."

one could almost see that evil glint to his eyes in amusement, Before looking down at his daughter.

"Well lets see. how about we see if Sevilin can help with this. you want to go ask him?"

"One never truly knows the depth of a drow's knowledge until it is too late. Or so the saying goes." Chuckling to that notion with a little shrug.

"Yes!" Which meant after a tap of the metal on her boots on the ground she was off like a shot, screaming for Sevilin.

"You're just going to have a field day with this, aren't you?" Piper gave a short laugh at it all, getting herself up. "Come on, little feet move fast when excited."

The child didn't get very far after reaching the main floor as Sevilin snagged her passing form by the sash around her waist, lifting the kicking little elf off her feet. "Well, if you're ever in trouble you can be sure to just scream. You have the lungs of a banshee. Why pray tell are we screaming for me and where are your parents?" A little confused however then as the child grabbed his hair and pulled herself closer to him, apparently hugging his head. "Please let go."

"You gotta help me learn the fun new thing!"

"That's extremely vague and you still haven't let go of me." And he couldn't put the child down either because of that fact. Hm, maybe that wasn't a good choice to make.
