"you'd try. but I don't think you'd be able to land the killing blow. If for no other reason then Piper."
Watching him a moment.
"Because wether I liked him or not, wether we got along or not, whatever he wants to say is a strong enough reason for him to choose limbo, rather then whatever afterlife he's earned. and not only that, but willling to come to me to barter for the opportunity."
A small grin.
"without consequence, you say. oh there's consequence. in fact, it's more dangerous for him to attempt this then to leave things lie. I can sever his link to this world anytime once that stone breaks. I can have him banished to places you'd not even imagine in your deepest and darkest nightmares. And he knows it. and took the risk. now wether it's just for his stubborn pride or not remains to be seen. but that door can't be opened until you open it."
picking out the stone again and rolling it back and forth along his knuckles.
"And I'll keep him here until you do. how long will you be able to keep up the charade yourself, to your mother that he's in a better place, when you know he's bound to an emerald, siting in a case or in a jar in my home?"

"I never said I'd do it so it'd kill you. Just that I'd do it and make it hurt." Because yes of Piper, but right now Malik was still pleading a case. Malik was really playing on Kieran's sense of loyalty to his mother and it was working. The elf knew what he was doing after all, but they both knew that. "Fine then, break him out, let him say what he has to say." So help that man if he touted venom.

Tossing over the stone to Kieran.
"All you have to do is break it open. I'll send the ladies over, then you can get it all done and over with."
grinning lightly and going back to the women.
"Okay you two. over to kieran, and keep him company and mentally stable."

"You do know that you're going to be playing placating later right?" Thusly giving him a little elf's hand to keep track of her as Piper had to more or less hold onto the girl as seh had the urge to wander about and didn't need to be doing so right now. So with her mother she moved over to her father whom was still looking agitated. "Look at it this way...he can't say anything we haven't heard before." Well, anything bad anyway.
Catching the stone once more he shook his head and waited for the women. Kieran gave a sigh, looking at the two before a slight nod. There was that wasn't there? All the venom that could ever be said said had been said. "He better go to wherever after this, or I'm telling my mother and she'll force someone to send him somewhere." Which meant taking out a diamond edged dagger and striking the stone, which of course split easily with a little light and what not.

"Yes I know very well."
And picking up his daughter and glancing to his oldest son.
"What sya we try to get me into more trouble and answer her question about how essence emeralds are made? and we can leave them to have their family moment, as it is."

Oh wait picking up usually meant they were going to go somewhere faster than her feet usually let her. "Please?" Saying it to both of them because that sounded like fun. Lots of it.
He turned his attention away from the surface elves and to his father and sister. Had to admit, it was nice to see his dad picking her up and the like more than he usually did. "Fair enough. Long as I don't get anything boney poked in my ears."

"Well this is more of storing the energy of a soul or a soul itself, so I assume no boney things to poke in your ears. I can't make these things, my training in the necromantic arts doesn't cover alot of the more nifty things a true necromancer can do. just like you'll never be able to do everything a true illusionist can, since they have to devote everything to the art."
but heading down to the arena and summoning her teacher who was less then pleased but obviously looked like she'd been conducting something of her own and it was messy. a little discussion after putting his daughter down, and she tapped her chin a moment before giving a nod.
"Alright then...I see that your father has introduced you to essence emeralds, and you wanted to learn how they are made and how to use them, is that correct?"

"Works for me then. While we're down there we might as well hit up Broog and Tremor as well to get something started on some gloves for her." Though he gave a light laugh and a smirk. "That's alright with me. I don't think I have it in me to be strict mage. Give me a sword and a brawl any day of the week."
Put down she idly skipped around in the sand for a moment as they discussed before her teacher's voice brought her to a stop and wandering over. "Mhm, they feel tingly."

"As well they should."
folding her hands into her robes a bit.
"The essence emerald is used in a variety of ways, and is made by only one methodology. there is a spell in our arsenal called Sacrifice. It is a spell that can only be used on the willing, however. when we use it on a subject, it siphons thier life into the emerald...killing the person."
watching her student and letting that sink in.
"The energy in the emerald can retain the person..trapping their ghost to be brought forth at a later time, or for a punishment of sorts, preventing them from crossing over until the necromancer sees fit. it can also be used as a restorative. we can sacrifice that spirit, on it's life energies, to restore the dead to the living."

Rather than get anxious like a normal child, she merely just stood there and superficially watched her teacher, giving a little 'I'm listening' nod at the news of death being involved in this whole process. A tilt of her head every now and then before she opened her mouth, obviously to ask a question, thought real hard about it, and then spoke. "How do you know when you can use it on something that doesn't talk or you can't understand?"
Khai shook his head, looking to his father lightly. "You know...sometimes I wonder how she figures to comes up with the questions she does." Especially being as young and more or less sheltered as she was.

"she gets it from your mother."
Grinning lightly and glancing at his son.
"you know trying to get her to do anything with gloves without your mother is going to be an exercise in futility."
She gave the hint of a grin.
"You catch on quickly. Devotion is a measure for this in animals. for those that don't speak your language....well you just have to try and see."
A small smirk.
"But part of our studies as mages is language. learning many tongues so that we can do our tasks and be able to communicate across racial barriers...you'll find that some races hold secrets ours do not."
looking at her.
"Dragons, for example. there are creatures of magic that have their own language as well."

"Of all the traits to pick up, it's the oddly accurate information scouting." That made him chuckle and shake his head before crossing his arms lightly. "Not if you go about it in the right way. She's only a child." Tilting his head some, "Isn't the more challenging part going to be training her into a weapon?"
Oh that was exciting. Learning new languages? Yes, very exciting. Maybe she'd know more than her brothers! Then she could tease them back. "What happens if you try and it's not supposed to work?" And twitching her ears lightly, a clear sign that she was indeed listening. "I can learn that too?" Not that she understood draconic was a language that could literally take forever to learn.

"Draconic can be taught to you, yes. we have our own...rosetta stone i think the humans term it. several runes that form the basics of the language that we have had translated to a form we can use and speak. it still takes years to learn and master, and it is one of many languages you will learn. in fact, in norrath there are thirty-six different speakable and writable languages. from the brutish orc to the Tier'dal to the Dragon."
tapping her chin on her finger.
"Using it strictly in an offensive manner causes your victim some very intense pain...but that is all. there are theories that the Harm Touch technique was originally founded on the Sacrifice spell being used offensively, and has been refined to it's present state. though there are rumors that particularly powerful necromancers, or liches, have the ability to force the spell to work wether the person agrees or not. but to find a necromancer of that kind of power is a foolish gesture. they don't take students, and they don't take kindly to unwanted intrusion. they are usually denizens or servants of powerful planar realms or beings."

"I can study really hard, and daddy said we're going there." And wasn't that a great thing then? It worked out nicely and gave her a bit of incentive to be excited about this trip. Tilt of her head though at the new information on liches and the like. "But aren't they the best?" That's what it sounded like, that's what she learned. Whomever had the most power was the best.

"Yes, they usually are the best. but being the best does not mean they want to share what makes them the best. take your father for example. he is one of the best swordsmen around. yet you do not see him taking on students. He keeps to his own personal studies and improvements, rather then teach others outside your brothers."
Sitting down on the sand to get more level with the girl.
"A necromancer is feared for their power. it's is a blessing and a curse. feared and hated we might be to some, others fear and revere our abilities. if you fear me, and I teach you all that I know, then what do you have to fear?"
"Many always want to keep the things that set them apart, that make them the best, to themselves. that way, they stay the best. if someone else figures out the secrets on their own, then that is a rival, or an ally who will appreciate the talent all the more."
giving a slight smirk.
"Like you will not learn from me, everything I know. I won't teach you all my secrets. but I might offer assistance if you come across some of them yourself."
