Exxos Sammirah Haha, I bet the snow really freaks people out in Vegas. When it snows a lot, yes. But it actually snows here every year. That's funny. I live in Canada and we don't get snow every year.

Sammirah Exxos Sammirah Haha, I bet the snow really freaks people out in Vegas. When it snows a lot, yes. But it actually snows here every year. That's funny. I live in Canada and we don't get snow every year. I think it is because of the altitude. Las Vegas is 2,001 feet above sea level at the airport, about 2,500 feet towards the edges. Where I live, we're about 3,100 feet. So while it rarely sees snow down in Las Vegas proper, out near the edges, we'll usually get about a week of light snow days per year somewhere between December and February. It's not a lot, usually only about 1/2" to 1" at most, but it happens. But then again, most of the Canadian population lives in the parts that extend south a fair ways. As far south as the top of California no less.

My favorite was a couple years back when you were hit by that awesomely amazing snow storm that broke all of your palm trees, and I had only a few inches here in Chicago. I need to get back to Vegas, I had such an amazing time there. smile

B.C. doesn't reach to California, you have to come down thru Washington state and Oregon, but the whole West Coast tends to be mild year-round. And much or most of California is officially desert. Tons of irrigation. Poor palm trees. The thing that surprised me on coming to California was learning how common Eucalyptus is - they are beautiful, but an incredible fire hazard. Palms are wierd to me, resemble telephone poles unless you look up.

Lilygwen Camwen By change people do you mean you need to quote a different person each time? and say "more detention" in the post? I quoted same person and also few other persons so I think both ways are just as ok as the other one. smile Sammirah Is anyone else getting a really warm autumn after having a really crappy summer? Nope. We've had cold summer and looks like we'll get cold fall as well. They say that it might get bit warmer for few days but the wind is already coming from the north so it's not helping that much. Right now we have about +10C (50 F) and that's pretty much the average in the mornings for the whole summer. whee "Change" means you click on the label under the avi when it turns gold - it says "Change __________" I think it's about over now - today?

OMG good luck!! 4laugh heart biggrin What sort of job is it? It's doing like volunteer coordination, event planning, and donor liason for the local intercultural society. It's part-time, a decent wage, and more in line with what I'd like to do. *crosses fingers*

Yeah it usually hovers just above freezing here in the winter. Supposedly "they" have predicted a snowy winter this year, but that's what they said last year, too...

They are about at 41.7º North and the California/Oregon border is at 42º North. So the Southernmost point of Canada is a teency distance lower than the top of California.
