Pyre's mention of geology and Amazon reminds me of what I should bug my boyfriend to get me for Xmas/birthday. ninja I read the first bit of it when my mother got it from the library, and then it disappeared and it's either not in the regular bookstore or always checked out. crying

Ooh cool book Wil. Have you tried reserving the book by putting it on hold in your library? My library has a system where you can borrow the book from another library if you wanted and they tell you it's been transferred through the mail waiting to be picked up. (:
Looks like the feed is back up. Wow, almost done! I can't believe it costs $5 per glass for each slice of brain! Geez....
Edit: Looks like a camera crew is there to witness the event. (:

Not only that, but "For those who asked, the cost of processing one histological slide is in the range of $100 depending on which staining method is used." eek

Wooooow! O____O
They're done! At 11:34pm. <3 I thought the ending was really cool because the lights were all off and at the end the guy turned off the light to the last slice and kept it off for a while. Then all the lights turned back on like it was a surprise party. XD I kinda figured that there was no lighting to make the last few shots good for the camera. Makes me wish there was sound though...):
Edit: Now he's putting post-it notes on for all the people involved in the project of slicing. XD

I've been wishing there was sound the whole time. Since there wasn't, my roommates made up the conversation they had after it was over. xd
I liked the ending, too. :> I bet they're all exhausted but pleased.
Edit: Also I'm glad I was able to share something that you guys found so interesting haha xD <3 THIS IS MY SCHOOL. SO COOL.

OMG, I was making up conversations too! Like, when the team was being siphoned away ("Get out! This is srs bsns herrrrr! Only I cun do work!") XD
And aw, two sections were damaged. It seemed like on one of the last ones (second to last?) the team and Dr. Annese were soooo upset over something. I wondered if it had to do with the last piece being the final one or if the piece before it was dropped on the ground or something. I missed it. But they seemed really upset.
And they saved all the post-its too. XD Cool! I know someone on twitter was writing them all up as they came along.
And yeah thanks for showing us! It's really interesting and I think it's very historic! Otherwise I would have missed the live streaming and only heard second accounts of it over the internet. crying I hate it when I'm not there beforehand! Heh.
And oh this is your school? Cool! That's really awesome. Too bad you couldn't be there just because. XD It would have been too crowded I guess.
And it wasn't reported on all too much. CBS had a brief excerpt and CNN did an article but those were the few current stories I found.

At the end when everyone applauded, Dr. A didn't join in the applause so we figured he was taking the credit. Dr. A: *picks up sample tray* "And now I will take MY work to the lab!" Guy in Scrubs: *reaches to take it* "Oh, I can do that for you!" Dr. A: *walks right past him* Guy in Scrubs: *awkwardly crosses arms to hide movement*
I saw that too. D: I don't know what it was about, though.
I would have saved the post-its too. It must have been amazing to be in that lab, I don't think any of them will forget it... even if for the most part it was very repetitive. xd (Then again, it didn't bother me. OTL)
yw heart I wouldn't have known about it myself if I didn't have huge neuroscience nerds for roommates. xd

Yeah I guess for some of them it's a regular thing.
XD! I didn't see it! I did see Dr. Annese taking the container when he usually doesn't (because he's, ya know, slicing the brain). But the other probably wanted to help but there was no point to. Heh.
The lady Dr. Annese hugged at the end (when he put all the post-its up) was the lady who interviewed and studied H. M. for over 50 years. She was on the news too. So she was there for the final slice.
Hopefully I'll see this on the news tomorrow.
Now I go to bed. D;

When I got home (days ago) my roommate was watching the brain. It was awesome, but he couldn't explain to me what it was.
We watched it almost all day though.
