Looks like they're going to sleep soon. I can't blame them. It's tedious work.
It says they may have trouble extracting the parts of the brain where the surgery happened (did he have a lobotomy?) because of the dead tissue. But it looks like that is near the end of the brain.
Geez 30 hours...

lol @ all the anti-walmart talk. I have the misfortune of working there. Eh. I like the job itself, most of my coworkers are cool, management sucks. Customers aren't too bad but I work at a "sophisticated" Walmart by most standards -- the area we're in tends to be more well off economically and socially than most of the other ones in the area. We get less skeezy crazies than the store that's about 3 miles away from us.
Sometimes it really amazes me what a difference 3 miles can make. This part of town goes from kinda skeezy, to not terrible, to high crime, to passable, to industrial, to suburb, to rich people houses. I live right on the border of passable/industrial/high crime -- right over the fence and across the bike trail from my apartment is some industrial buildings. 10 blocks away is what's considered "Felony Flats" -- the high crime part. Eh. xD

crying Whhhhhy?!
And that is funny how regional locations can differ by just 3 miles.
My town is different. My paper reports robberies and shootings from around my area all the time (well, a couple miles up but ya know). Maybe it's because there is a community college there? We live just around the corner from a high school too. I hate it when our walls get graffitied. -_____- LOL u r teh rebel!
Sometimes there are cops here. One time I had to call the cops to report a domestic disturbance involving a boyfriend and girlfriend. It was WEEEEEEEIRD. Someong was cussing up a storm and yelling. Then they made up? It took hours. Then their friends came just to WATCH it unfold and then LEFT. lol friends. neutral I don't think the cops came. rofl They're just there to give us tickets for revenue. <3333
Still watching the braaaain. I can't stop! O______O
And they hit the hippocampus now which is where the surgery happened eons ago. hurrah

Aw, I was going to answer your question about the surgery, but you found out yourself. xd And damnit, I went to bed before they got to the hippocampus. D:!
Wow, they've done a lot since I last looked. I wonder what that dark lesion on the left medial part is...?

The live stream isn't up anymore so I dunnnno! crying But there was a metal clip that was inserted into his brain during Dr. Scoville's surgery many years ago. I'm not sure if the guy cutting the brain took out the metal part or not before freezing the brain. His post-it notes said they had to be careful with their blade when it came to that part but another post-it note said that he took it out prior to the freezing so I'm not sure. XD It looked like there was a clip there (it was a dark circle spot no bigger than a pinhead). He was pointing it out too to one of the students working there. So I assumed it was. They hit the hippocampus at 12:52am. At this point they took a coffee break then came back. When he started again he didn't have any gloves on and I was wondering if that was okay to touch the brain with his fingers. Later on he put on gloves but....o___o Heh. I also took pics! Did you want to see them? (: Then I got tired around 2am and went to sleep. gonk I figured they'd be done by now. The site isn't up. Edit: Pics! Brain sliiiicepaintbrush used to pick it upBrain

The feed's up now, Sevi. They're not quite done yet, but they should be by the end of today. I really wish there was audio, there's a post-it note saying something about a smoothie? ): T;;;
Hopefully they'll show the slides where the clips were someday @u @ Maybe they did take them out but the area around there is susceptible to damage? Or maybe the person who wrote the notes just didn't know, I dunno. XD
I bet he just wanted to be able to say that he touched the inside of HM's brain.
Neat, thanks for the pics! <3 When I showed it to my brother he asked if the parts of the brain they were scooping up with the paintbrush were parts they didn't need anymore. XD It does look a little unscientific...

It's not showing for me still. crying
This is what I think he does: he takes the slivers of brain and he puts it in a container (you see it to the right side of him...you can also see it on the brain image as well...they're the dots on the bottom left hand corner). He puts all the parts of the brain in little containers with a solution inside of it. Then after all the rows have been filled they close it and put it aside and bring out another container. Then they repeat the process. Sometimes they have to put more dry ice in the container so they stop the slicing and put chunks of it around the brain. I've read an article that says the doctor gets agitated if he's away from the brain for more than 10 minutes. When they go out for a coffee break they put saran wrap over the brain and leave (lol, I laughed).
I've read in a CNN article (one of the commenters) said that there is a lot going on in the background of the scene that the cameras have not shot. Most I've seen are three people in the room at any given time. I have no idea what the guys are doing. There's only one of them taking the brain slivers.

D: Did you try the mirror?
Ah, I didn't really pay attention to the container before. :0 Definitely looks like a very, very, very tedious and stressful process. I wasn't doubting that they knew what they were doing, though, I just found it funny that they were using a paintbrush. And bubble wrap. xd
Just from the short blurb they have below the feed about the staining and costs and everything makes it feel like there's a lot going on.
Also I have a cognitive science midterm in an hour and there's a lot of brain anatomy to know, so my mind is in brain central right now. @__ @

I need to study for geology. I'm sooooo behind, and there is a test Monday, plus final Wednesday after next. But I'm exhausted and I just don't give a ********. It's all so boring. Well... it would be interesting if I didn't HAVE to do it, but being forced to, and in such a short time period, makes it boring as hell. I hate my music class, now, too. Why did our professor have to get sick? She was wonderful. Now we're stuck with this boring SOB who more or less just reads from the book. And he talks over the music when he plays tapes. It's so obnoxious! I wonder what our real professor would think of that. I remember her saying she thought it was awful when teachers did that. It's hard to listen for form and other stuff you want me to learn when you keep distracting me. Yes, I heard the chimes. It's in the listening guide where I'm following along. Quit screaming about it. D= Edit: I'm not sure what the actual temperature around here is, but it feels freezing to me. And today is the first day it has been sunny it a long time. It's been raining a lot. Cold rain makes me ache. I've wanted one of the local coffee shop's delicious double chocolate muffins for a week, now, but I keep passing it because I don't want to get out of my car when I JUST got it warmed up. I don't understand the desire for it to "feel like winter." The only reason I put up with it at all is because I love autumn. The leaves were particularly beautiful, this year. But now they're all gone, and it's just dreary and depressing. crying Edit 2: I came in to say I found a nifty little jewlery store on Amazon, and then completely forgot about it. xd Novica. I love unique pieces in natural stones. I have a lot of turquoise, but I've been looking into getting some lapis for a while. I really like amber, too, but it doesn't look very nice on me with my coloring.

Sora: I was trying to find the mirror site (I used it yesterday) but I forgot the link. D: I'll have to try and find it again. I thought I did but I guess not. He uses a paintbrush because it's so delicate. Link to CBS videoThanks for the link to the jewelry Pyre. They look so cute. I think I may get a choker for my friend. (: I haaaaaaaaated it when Professors read from the book. neutral It's just a cop out for not knowing anything themselves. Sooooo cold today. Around the mid 50s. WHY?! I'm not good in cold weather. Even 60s are horrible for me. D: *pansy* But the leaves are beautiful. I love Oak trees and willow trees and trees that have red leaves falling off. <3 I use to love the cold when I had faaaaaaat. crying I want to be fat again. Haha! Me and my cousin said that when we were in Santa Cruz swimming in 54 degree ocean waters. OMG, TO BE FAT~! Edit: NECKLACE. I want this sooo bad for my friend. She likes chokers. <3 But $57 omg. Edit2: Found the mirror site!
