"Hey I didn't start it, your daughter did. I just mentioned you were coming to her lesson."
getting up and pulling out a chair for his wife and letting her settle down and get something to eat before finishing off his own food and patiently waiting for everyone else to as well.
"You know you didn't answer me before, Kaelin...you feeling better? or still a bit flustered and under the weather?"

“Morning Kaelin. See, someone has the decency to just tell me good morning rather than pondering my level of comfort for the day. Though I suppose I forgive you as you’re all men. Savryn is excused for being cute.” Taking her seat and eating quietly with the rest of them until, her and Savryn finishing first. “She’s out of bed, I’d say that’s a good sign.”
Khai couldn’t help but comment on that. “Out of bed and trying to avoid a Zahara encounter.”
“I heard her moving about upstairs when I was coming down.” Giving a noise as he was duly whacked with the spoon. It was practically like saying good morning in the house now. At least for him. “I’m just stating facts ma.” Smiling innocently at her before rolling his eyes at his sister. “Why does no one ever believe me? It’s not like I’m a habitual liar or anything.” He sighed and shook his head, deciding to quit while he was ahead.
Tihirii rolled her eyes “Which is you making a decision but telling me to completely ignore it because you’re trying to make me happy but if I don’t care either way, then you should win. This is not hard Kelligrin. We’ll do it your way.” Seemed she was quite the interesting one at this table, more so when more of his siblings came down. “Wow, you were right when you said you and your siblings really look like your parents.” One could tell who was in this family and who wasn’t. But she was smart enough to avoid conversation that leaned toward his very quiet father.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I must not have been paying attention. I feel fine, but Lady Inthara likes to make doubly sure. She'll catch up with me eventually; I just want to get as much done before she does as possible."
Setting the final batch of pancakes on the table, Zahara took her own seat and began to eat as well. "Wonderful. We'll start the arrangements and go from there. Tihirii, do you know what you'd like to wear? I was formal at my wedding, but a woman's choice in wedding clothing is completely her own." Blinking. "Faate, why aren't you eating?"
"I'm afraid if I move blood will come out of my nose. And I'd rather not have that happen at the table. I'm just not very hungry." Rolling her eyes at her little brother. "You hadn't been down here yet."
"She has some really pretty shanking robes she wore to one of the Guild meetings a while back. I personally liked those a lot." He knew why his father was being so quiet and also knew that he was probably going to have to talk to him later. "Carbon copies. You should see my older brother. He looks so much like my dad it's scary." Chuckling at his older sister. "I didn't lie either. Here she is, in the flesh. T, this is my oldest sister, Faatallon and my youngest brother, Kithaan."

"Good. See, no wolves to blood just yet anyway."
Though once everyone was done, it was up from the table and down to the training arena, letting Kaelin and Piper be seated and taking his daughter and his oldest son down to the dirt floor where a tier'dal woman in a sleek form fitting bodysuit in black overlaid by a looser robe marked with arcane symbols along the hem, the robing itself being the same color blue as her skin. her eyes regarded Savryn carefully.
"Is it true, child, that you wish to learn the arts of necromancy? to learn to bend the lines of life and death, to master disease, to command poison, and to bring forth your fallen enemies to serve as your unliving minions and allies?"

“Long as she doesn’t catch you doing anything that would work against you in the manners of health.”
With everyone done she was happy to follow downstairs, one hand holding onto her mother and the other onto Kaelin. When they had to go sit down she followed after her father and brother…but slowed down when they got to the arena and the ground texture changed on her. It was loose and her boots weren’t making noise anymore. She was suddenly more interested in such changes than anything else and crouched down to touch the ground, trying to figure what she was walking in.
A whistle from her brother though got her attention and she brushed her hands up and meandered after that warm feeling she got from the men before the unfamiliar voice from nowhere startled her, causing her to attach to her brother’s side a moment before he pushed her off and redirected her attention to the voice’s direction as the woman continued to speak. And staring for a moment…is that what was all involved in this? Did that mean she could fix Bumbles if he got hurt again like he did? The other stuff must just be extra. “Mhm yup.” Simple answer from a child who was more excited over the prospect of magic than the type at this moment.
“Fine, I’ll wear those. And don’t worry Lady Inthara, there are no blood stains on them. They’re my look pretty and deadly but not intending to do anything too nasty robes. A girl likes to look good every now and then after all.” But a nod to both of his siblings as he went on with introduction. “And T stands for Tihirii you two. Half the time I think he forgets my name.” Now she was just teasing him just to do it.
To which a plate of food was pushed in front of her by her father. “You’ll be fine. Just take a moment to gather your energy and stabilize it and you’ll be fine. The more you fight it by not doing your normal things, the worse it’s going to get.”

She was silent a moment, before nodding her head lightly.
"I know you cannot physically see me. but I also know of your talents as you have progressed naturally. So I want you to see me as you see others. sense my presence, and come to stand five steps in front of me. Once here, I will show you what you are going to learn first."
and she folded her hands at her waist and waited.

"Easy enough. Sketching doesn't harm me in any way at all." Which is precisely what she took to doing as soon as they were in the arena. She watched Savvy mess with the sand and leaned down. "It's kind of like the outside dirt but looser." Whispering the information in the child's ear before climbing into the stands and settling down. "Do they always talk like that?"
"If there were bloodstains, we'd merely scrub them off. We've had enough experience with such things in this house." Presiding over the table, she watched her family eat, noting that her husband was eating with his normal gusto when it was a dish he liked and Tihirii seemed to be settling in well for the moment.
Faate's eyes closed and she sniffed a bit of blood back up then let her energy gather and settle into her system in one giant ball the way she'd been taught. And then she began eating tentatively.
"Mom and Dad work for my uncle who has had them do some nasty things over the years. They're part of the reason I became what I did." Watching his sister, "Umm, isn't that supposed to stay inside your body when sharp objects are not involved?" Quirking an eyebrow at his sister. "Is this another runemage thing?"

Piper chuckled. "They tend to. Something about master to apprentice respect guidelines and such nonsense I'm sure. Tier'dal also suscribe to a very formal school of training and the like." She would be partially amused. While Khai and Dhairiss were more willing to fall in line, she already knew Savryn would do the lesson as needed but she'd deviate to her own methods once she got the hang of it. See how well that would go over in time.
Okie dokie, that wasn’t hard. Adjusting her stance she dug her boots down into the dirt some, took a breath and then stood perfectly still holding her breath. Just had to look for the new bright and warm. She wasn’t hard to pick up either as she was radiating magic from her own talents. A little hesitation on her part…she hadn’t counted out this part of the house and she always ran into things when she tried to just walk to them. But regardless of that she walked forward, trying to gauge distance by how easily felt that energy was. Which meant she didn’t stop exactly five steps from the women, but a few steps off wasn’t bad for unfamiliar spaces and people.
"You're only bleeding because while your body is adjusting, it's sucking up all the energy that you try to so preciously store. Which is exactly why you should be eating more, not less. More energy you put into yourself as your body adjusts, the smoother it is. That's why your training sessions are short and I let you laze about longer right now." Turning a look to his middle son and nodding. "It is a rune mage thing. Your sister is in the middle of a physical proficency hike. All rune mages go through it when their runic attune to their bodies. The energies want to push for more. It's the time when rune mages either plan to endure and continue their training in higher levels, or quit and cease to learn." For him it had been easy to hide when he went through such things. Blood on his person was normal back then.
"Really? I have a few garments I just can't get the blood off of at all." But here was this interesting new thing happening around her at the table as they were eating and...discussing a type of magic. Inquisitively she looked to the girl across from the table. "Does that mean you're trying to become a full fledged mage then?" Magery was beyond her really but she preferred it that way. But a raised eyebrow at her fiancee. "You're blaming you being an assassin on your parents? And here I thought you were just doing it because of pretty girls."

She watched and gave a small nod.
"you are two steps to far, but that is perfectly acceptable. your first tool in magecraft is to know your enemies, to know the world around you. you can sense magical auras and energy, now I will show to sense the lifeforce."
watching her a moment.
"the life force is all around you. it is the energies created by living things, the part of all beings that is attuned to the flow of mana. through it you can heart, adn feel the heartbeat, the pulse of people. you can sense age and physical strength, but knowing the muscles and the way those muscles move and interact. It is a basis of necromancy to know this essence, to feel it and be able to seek it out. This is how you can know where, and how, to strike your enemies and with what spells in your arsenal that may prove most effective."
Letting that sink in a moment.
"If you have questions about what I have just said, you may ask them now. if not, we will continue with our lesson."

The correction got one of those nasty looks that Savryn tended to give when she felt unjustly corrected. “I haven’t counted here.” It wasn’t her fault and if it was acceptable, why did it need to be corrected? Hm? But she listened regardless of her irritation. “Like when mama, and Dhairiss, and Malikhai aren’t feeling good? I can tell that and sometimes I can make it go away.” Daddy of course was excluded as she hadn’t steadily bonded with him like she had the others as he wasn’t too interested in her for a long time. He was a busy man after all, he had things to do.

"It is similar to that. but this allows you to feel the presence of people you are also not particularly close to, or maybe don't even care for. and I mentioned your distance because it is a teaching tool, child. the closer you are to me, the stronger you should feel the essence of my magic. take the two steps forward and tell me if it feels stronger to you."
twitching her ears lightly.
"then yes, the dispelling of disease and sickness is already in your hands though it is focused through your family bonds. we will expand on that later. this first lesson will be to find and feel the essence of your family, and myself. Once you are comfortable, let the sense of life flow. let the magic bring to your ears the heartbeats of those around you. the youthful or older energy that your family and myself possess, that marks our ages and our power. these essences flow in the world, across the planes, and feed our power as much as they slowly siphon it away to fill the voids our power and time siphon into us."
"It is like threads in a tapestry, you can find the thread that is your mother, or father, or myself or your brother. bonds make those threads powerful and strong. easy to find. this lesson is sensing and feeling and hearing what is in those bonds on a physical level, rather then a mental or emotional level. and finding the threads of those whom you are not close to, or may even dislike or consider your enemies."

She took two steps closer but was making sure that people knew how to do this right by the look on her face and a simple nod of her head. But with instructions in place she took to concentrating as she usually did when it came to such things. Feel things out but feel them out deeper. Again seh was that odd creepy still and quiet she could become as she was trying to do what was asked of her.
She started with her mother. She knew what she felt like, she knew her heartbeat to. It gave her a reference point. The usual bright light that mentally granted her her own sense of vision from time to time changed a bit to include a second light in that pulsed lightly and made that familiar sound she was used to hearing. That's what it looked like, that's what it felt like, and a twitching of her hears said she was phsyically hearing something that not everyone else was as she tried to follow directions.
Okay...there was mama. There was Khai...and the three she was uncertain of. The one in front of her was her teacher...and the other two...well. One was a meeker prescense and daddy was just not like that...which meant that must be Kaelin and daddy was the one that was left. However she noticed two others. First her own, which seemed to be out of sync of how everyone else sounded...and then one blip of energy that had no extra light at all. Then more came, little beats of life that weren't in the immediate area. Other people?
Frowning she put her hands over her ears a moment and wrinkled her nose, breaking her own concentration apparently on purpose. "It's too loud." Sure she could get the hang of recognizing things quickly, but understanding never granted fine tuned control. Something else was bothering her too. "Bumbles doesn't have one."

"control comes with time. this is understanding first, child. and your pet does not have one because he is not technically living. Your pet had been injured and dying when you brought it to us...beyond the ability to restore. but we saved it in another fashion. your 'bumbles' is the first successfully liched animal. undead in flesh but not in mind or spirit."
just like that, no emotional response just stating simple fact to her.
"Which also means that your bumbles will never grow old, or die. in a sense. it is one of the crowning achievements of necromancy. but that won't come till much later."
But that was as far as she went on that.
"I need you to do this again. but focus it. think of it as putting up a wall beyond the area you want to effect. so that no one beyond a certain distance will show. once you do that, I want you to focus on your brother, and your father, and tell me the differences in them."

And yet Bumbles seemed very much alive didn't he. Well it was sad that he didn't get an extra light like everyone else. But at least he didn't contribue to the noise. The woman seemed happy enough with this fact that Bumbles was very very special. Good then she wouldn't mind him being around.
But she blinked at the woman...now she was talking about walls. Distance was just not something Savryn was good at. It eluded her at every try save when she had counted a room out. And she couldn't count right now. But there was that thing about the closer something was the more strongly it was felt...so she could try it that way. Back to concentrating.
Okay then. Find the lights...and the faint ones needed to go away. And then so did the ones that were kind of dim as well. Just needed to keep the really really bright ones. It was kind of working, not all the way but good enough for her to concentrate and turn to the two men who were standing with her down in the dirt.
That was Khai...and that was daddy. She wasn't so sure what she was supposed to be looking for to tell the woman, but she could venture a guess she supposed. "Daddy's light doesn't get wavy and it's brighter?"

She watched her and glanced at the two men...before turning her attention back to her student.
"why do you think that your brother's light becomes wavy? concentrate on the waves, see if you can figure out why it wavers like that. let the essence of his life force tell you, inform you why it wavers."
