Malik nodded to Fianna.
"That's right. the draithix is a good starter, but for more practical purposes the hawk or a falcon would be a better. range, training, and what not."
before hearing Zahara's voice and motioning for Malikhai to go.
"See what she needs, do whatever is needed. if you need me just say so and I'll do what I can."

"Save I wouldn't hit a girl unless you know, I had to." Grinning at her before rolling his eyes and rubbing at his arm some from her punch. "Why don't you ask him for one? Doesn't all this rune stuff come with rewards?"
Piper had to give a chuckle at the thought of imagining anyone down here but herself and her own impressionable children to be sporting her particular hair treatment. "Says the woman with no married children? I suppose it couldn't hurt though. If she ever calms down." Blinking at the noise and Zahara inspecting, getting up and following. Well, that wasn't good. "She was supposed to get a once over after me. Other than that I don't think she intended to."
He pretty much hopped right up out of his chair at that feeling like rocks somewhat in his head, that was quickly followed by Zahara's voice. "Right." Worried yes but no need to panic and panic just delivered chaos. What was with these women lately? Moving over to the women, he crouched down, sitting Kaelin up so so that she rested back against his arm. "If I said Andal germs, would I be far off the suspected mark?"
Well...things were ever chaotic around here weren't they? Though that gave the place a certain type of charm she supposed. "She may not be able to handle one till she's older. Those types of birds can be quite powerful in their own right." And they all knew Savryn was on the small side for her age. "However, if that's what you're planning it's best to expose her earlier to at least bond with the creature." She was worried personally...birds could be scary.

"And you'd never have to hit me and you and I both know it." She chuckled. "Wimp." Because that was just beyond amusing. "Sure it does but you can't have your own official training room until you're cleared by your teacher. And you can't be cleared by your teacher until you reach a certain stage. It's all interconnected and long-term. Training room is one of the later rewards."
"Married children? No. But I'm married myself and two of my children have had long term relationships to the point where I considered them married. She let Malikhai support Kaelin and then shook her head. "I don't believe so. I didn't get a chance to check her over but she didn't eat very much downstairs and she didn't look particularly good either. Has she been complaining of anything since she returned?" Sending one of the servants to fetch a cool cloth and then using it to lightly swab the girl's forehead. "She's warm to the touch and her breathing is labored. Get her into bed."

"so I hear. but I'd like to get them introduced as quickly as it is feasible, and see how things go. She seems to have an affinity to animals like her brother. perhaps it is due to her other senses being as sharp as they are."
watching fianna and reading her face like an open book.
"You're worrying."

"I'm not a wimp. I'm respectful." Rolling his eyes again at training room nonsense. "In other words, because you may hurt yourself if you have one now. No wonder so many people drop it unless it's something they love."
"Nothing out of the normal, save feeling 'funny' after you all wanted to get her drunk for girly talk and kicked the rest of us out of the house." Scooping Kaelin up he meandered down the hallway to his room that they shared, settling her into the bed comfortably. "With her luck, she's allergic to whatever you put into your drinks."
"Of course I'm worrying. It's hard enough for anyone for handle such birds. They will take advantage and make themselves a boss in a relationshop if they feel they can. That and not to mention all thier unaccounted for movements they make at their leisure. It won't be an easy thing, that's for sure."

"Bird are no different then any animal. maybe a little more intelligent then some. I can't see how much harder it would be to handle a bird of prey over a draithix. they are intelligent creatures as well."
leaning back.
"But time is one thing we have in abundance."

"Intelligent and demanding of respect and keen to pecking order. You wouldn't want a bird to think it's the one in charge of the relationship. It would do what it pleased without regard to what she wanted. And with talons and beak as sharp as they are and used as pecking order tools..well, I have my right to worry. Birds grow fast and she has to not only keep up with it but ahead of it." Shrugging her shoulders, "But regardless I'll find you a good one. Plenty of kinds to choose from."

"So you say." She knew he thought it was silly and there was no way he could possibly understand. But there was a heady rush that came from doing runes that she'd never gotten from sex or anything else she'd ever tried. Even magic paled in comparison. "It's worth it in the end. And it's worth it all along the way, too."
"Or she's allergic to something on Andal and it reacted badly with what it is that I put in my drinks. Or she could just be sick. But first we need to wake her up. Get her conscious again." Continuing to dab, she lightly patted Kaelin's cheeks. "Come on, sweetheart. Come back to us." Glancing up at Malikhai. "Get some broth from downstairs. We'll feed her some of that slowly and see if that helps." Going back to waking the girl up.

"If you say so, I'm just going to take your word for it." There was no arguing with these rune mages, he swore. Better to quit while he was ahead. "I'll stick to my simple pleasures and you can stick to yours and we can all be happen and who cares what anyone else thinks."
"Does that mean I can still blame you?" The later half of this week was looking more and more bleak with each passing hour. He wasn't going to try to ponder why either because that would make it worse. He gave a sigh as he did what he was told and headed downstairs, giving the people at the table he passed a simple explanation of, "Wolves to blood better not be genetic," as he got said bowl of broth and brought it back up to Zahara. "Here."

"Simple pleasures, indeed." She leaned back and studied him for a moment then quirked an eyebrow. "How come you never talk about your parents, Mykorian?"
Zahara quirked an eyebrow. "You can blame whoever you like, Malikhai, but the blame would probably lie with you for taking her to Andal. She picked something up but she'll be fine. Once I recover a bit I'll be able to remove the sickness from her body and she'll be her old self once again." She'd succeeded in reviving the girl and already some color was coming back into her cheeks. "Now be nice and take care of your wife before I have to do the same things I used to do to your father to you." Handing him the bowl of broth.
She was sitting up, resting a hand on her forehead and leaned back with her eyes closed. At Khai's voice, she opened them and blinked. "I'm sorry..."

He blinked at her question, stared for a bit and then spoke, "Um...because they're dead? What's there to talk about?" That's how he had viewed it all even when he was younger. There was no point to bring up something that didn't exist anymore. Just brought up the bad stuff. "It's not like they were anything special either." Shrugging his shoulders to that.
Zahara's words didn't help his attitude at the moment either. "Right, because it's always the man's fault." The very old creed women that everything was the man's fault still stood strong through every generation. Taking the bowl back he held in a sigh of frustration that wanted to come out. "Right, I can handle it. Why don't you two go back downstairs." More or less shooing Zahara and his mother away and turning his attention to Kaelin, sitting on the edge of the bed and checking himself so as not to yell at her as she took on that old attitude of hers in a way. "It's not your fault. Not like you can prevent being sick." Placing the bowl in her hands but still supporting it with his own under his. "Sip this some. Broth is usually the cure all for everything."

"I guess nothing. My parents are such a big part of my life I just assumed yours had been as well." She glanced down at her fingers and shrugged her shoulders, not really sure if this particular conversation was one they should continue to have. "They weren't special to you?"
"No, Malikhai. But you seemed to want to deliver the blame so I simply turned it back around. In truth, it's not your fault or mine. It's whoever was sick in Andal who shared their germs with her which could be any elf on Andal." Shaking her head before leaving the room and making her way back downstairs. She needed to rest or she'd be flat on her back next and Sevilin would not be happy with her.
"Maybe not but I could have gone to see Zahara right when we got back like you told me I should. I felt fine so I didn't but I suppose I picked something up and just didn't know about it." She took the bowl, grateful for his hands since her own were still shaky and slowly took a few sips. "It's hot."

"Well of course they were to me. I mean without them I wouldn't be here would I?" No matter how brief the time he had spent with them. "I just don't see what talking about them will do. It doesn't bring them back, and they lived and loved at a time when such ideals between them wasn't socially acceptable. We had it hard...I don't like to remember it too much." He brushed snow white strands away from his bronzed cheek and out of red eyes. All things that he got from his parents and was reminded of all the time. Talking about it less made it hurt less he supposed.
"You know...when I was younger I wished most nights that I had been killed too. So I didn't have to feel the hurt all the time like I did from them being gone. I cried myself into exhaustion most times because the pain in my chest wouldn't go away and I couldn't make it stop. I didn't even know what was causing it. But a broken heart didn't kill me, or anything else and here I am now. And it's best to leave the past in the past. Bringing it up doesn't make it any better." Great now he was going to have bad reveries tonight, he just knew it.
"If that woman didn't deliver me...." He trailed off and shook his head and tried to let it all go. Khai did not wear frustration well in some cases. Business frustration he could handle. Personal not so much. Had a short temper like his mother he supposed. "I didn't tell you to go see Zahara. That was dad's idea. But if you picked something up, then you picked something up and we'll just take it easy with you." Taking the bowl and setting it on the bedside table to let it cool a bit. "You won't be down long, you're elven after all. And the drow tend to get back up on their feet sooner as I've seen."

"My dad used to tell us that surface elves could die of broken bonds like that. But I think now that he's with my mom and has all of us, he'd be no different. It's hard to have someone you love die. I had a little brother once but we never even got to meet him. It hurt my mom for a long time." She moved over by him and awkwardly placed an arm around his shoulder. "You're strong. You should take pride in that even though it would have been better if you hadn't had to go through such a terrible thing."
"Be nice, Malikhai." Reaching up and lightly finger the ends of his hair. "She means well." She settled back against the pillows, trying to make herself comfortable and nodded. "Whoever's idea it was, it would have benefited me to do it. But I'll be okay. I should have eaten something downstairs but my tummy felt funny." Lapsing into silence for a bit, she reached over and gently took his hand. "Don't worry so much, Khai. I'm not going anywhere."

It was indeed an akward moment as they sat there and she tried to comfort him for things long past. "Well...I've been hurt a lot and nothing since has matched that pain." Perhaps that was why he was a loner. Somewhere in his head he knew what that pain was and he didn't want to put himself in the same circumstances again. "Like I said...I don't talk about them because I don't like to remember that. Better to just keep moving forward."
"Well it didn't help that she got you to drink last night either. Probably aggrivated everything more than it needed to be." Though he did calm himself a little at her chiding plea of sorts. Looking down to their hands he looked back up to her with a light smile as she was further trying to make him feel better even though she was the one that wasn't top notch. "I know you aren't. But I still like you at your best rather than not feeling well."
