Tresondros Ecstuffuan Dear Princess Molestia I don't get why everyone wants to fix the parts of the tournament scene that aren't broken but never ant to fix the things that are really ******** up. I think we all have varying opinions on how we could improve the tournament scene. The difference being most of those opinions wouldn't do anything to improve any of the major complaints that come about. How do I know this? Because most of you don't have a ******** clue what you're talking about. Really, this whole thing about posting scores publicly is more about people wanting to wag around e-peens and to find a way to justify why they think everybody else is bad. It would in no way speed up the process. All it does is remove a tiny bit of work from the administrative side of things, but this work that it's removing doesn't slow down tournament progression at all.

The Female of the Species Every time I come here. I regret signing up for this s**t. I'm saying that it would help you guys out. Because then other people could see the scores and if you did the right thing, (which shouldn't be too hard for you since you've done it a lot) most people will support you. If you make the wrong move or something based on a biased opinion, then people will cry and whine until you bleed out your ears.

I just like talking about roleplaying and waxing about our opinions on the subject. Posting the scores would be a good catalyst to that. Unlike most people I tend to not antagonize others, so my conversations tend to remain civil. We need to come together as a community to discuss the positive and negative habits within this hobby.

What's the worst that can happen? We quit the tournament which relieves them of a burden. This happened two years ago, and this is why the last GTB was also a total joke that nobody who mattered in the community entered in. There still will be people who will do it regardless of how of how asinine a decision any staff member may make.

The internet in general is full of tears. And idiots. Lots of them. Me included sometimes.
That having been said, despite the fact I've never run a tournament RP, I've done a lot of admin work in fighting rp guilds and can easily vouch for Specs when she says there's always someone who will do something stupid.

You know what kills me...
The idea that when I say 'How about we post our scores' people jump to the conclusion of 'let me show my-E. Peen'.
I think we are so used to the axiom of us shitting on each other and tearing one another down, that the possibility that we can have a civil discussion about it doesn't even occur to us.
Typically I compliment more people than I judge them.
However I do point out things I don't like in role play. We should be able to discuss things like that without getting into an argument or somehow 'showing off'. I don't try to be offensive or even hurtful about critic. I simply try to be constructive.
It is something I appreciate from others, so I try to do the same myself.

The idea of posting scores on a public level makes sense in the idea that it keeps things "Fair and Balanced". However at the end of the day, the judges call is the right call seeing as they are well, the judges. The way most people cry and moan about some of the pettiest s**t should leave no surprise why it is seen as a wise idea to keep scores private.
We can discuss role-playing without posting scores. Hell my personal opinion is the grading rubric seems incomplete and lacking in many departments, and is a bad metric to discuss the fundamentals of role-play (or even judge a tournament by, but I have never ran a competitive PvP based tourney, only PvE events where people were graded on how well they worked as a team to clear obstacles. So take that opinion with a grain of salt.).

I'm not saying the opposite decision should be made. It should be given thought. Bearing this line of thinking in mind, I think it would make things easier.
