Zahara purred. Even after all these years, with both of them getting older, it was still unbelievable. He still had all the tips and tricks but had somehow managed to mold them to fit her and her alone. At least that's the way it seemed to her which was the only thing that really mattered. When he'd snuck up behind her and started kissing her neck, she'd really believed he was trying to get steak out of the deal. When he'd carted her off, well, she'd gotten the message loud and clear. Recovery brought about pillow talk and she had one hell of a subject to discuss with him tonight. One he'd probably be less than pleased about, too. "How's Faate?"
Malik could say that and, as much as she knew the truth to it, she still wasn't entirely comfortable with it. She didn't trust it mostly and she was a bit concerned and not feeling particularly well at the moment. "I...suppose. I don't want Khai getting hurt. Can you promise me that much?" She wanted to add Savvy on as well but knew Piper already had that base covered.

Well that wasn't a question he was expecting...and it was odd, seeing as well, Faate still lived with them and she talked to her mother everyday. Which meant he could only think that Zahara was asking about her lessons and that like. "She's coming along nicely. Why, are you worried what with the rash of nosebleeds that she's been having lately? They're nothing to worry about, body eventually gets adjusted."
"Oh that kind of present." However he didn't seem concerned at all as he finished off his food. Those kinds of presents were common practice in this house. "Sounds like fun." Tantrums and tears and what not that were inevitible included.
Reaching over he plopped an arm around her shoulders, giving her an affectionate reassuring squeeze where she sat. "I can promise you that myself. This will be little stuff we're dealing with...just not as easy because of how things are with Savvy. This will be nothing compared to tournament."
New field of study, meant that she got to learn something new that she previously hadn't. That was an exciting prospect and her tugged at her mother before pointing at her plate that was clean save for a few missed pieces here and there. She was done. "Do I get my friend back first?" Savvy of course was most concerned about that.

"Actually, your friend is part of your present. so yes you get him back. and if we are all done eating, why don't we go to the living room and we'll see about this gift of yours, alright?"
He knew he and savy was done, but of course he was going to let everyone else finish before he did this. this was a family thing, and they all needed tosee and know what this coudl do.

She snuggled closer to him and dropped a few kiss-like nibbles along his jawline and neck. "No, that's not what's concerning me about her. I know you're monitoring what she does and working with her. You'd never let her tear herself apart without intervening." She paused for a moment and then glanced up to meet his gaze. "I mean her sex life."
She turned and gave him a grateful smile, leaning over to press a kiss to his cheek. It wasn't easy to understand what Malik was talking about or how this whole thing was going to work but she'd try. The gods help her if Malik did anything to hurt Savvy, though. And she wasn't concerned about physical hurt either. "That's good." Leaning in a bit, she gave him a quick, covert nuzzle and whispered. "I love you. Remember that and take good care of yourself." She'd just sit on the sidelines with Piper.

That said she picked up a remaining piece of meat from her plate and plopped it in her napkin, wrapping it up. "He needs a snack." She doubted they knew to feed him and the like downstairs like he was. He would be hungry. Thusly she got out of her chair and headed off to where she was told to wait.
"This should be interesting at the least." Getting himself up as well and following after his sister. A squeal and some laughter said that he had taken to capturing her and tickling her.
"Everything will be fine, you have my word. There's no reason to worry." Brushing his fingers through her hair as he soothed her momentarily before looking to the table. "Well then, better get started before anyone feels too full and wants to be lazy."
Piper for her part gave a nod to Malik. Her plate was half empty and that usually meant she was done for now. "You boys can play, but know we'll be watching."
He sighed and gave a light amused chuckle. "Of course you would ask about that and shouldn't you be asking her that yourself? Not exactly something that I closely monitor when it comes to our kids, even the girls. She's been spending a tad more time and more tolerate of that halfbreed boy but you know how she is. Let's her studies get in the way of other things."

"I'm holding you to that, Khai." She settled next to Piper and gave her mother-in-law a shaky smile. "Nothing like coming home and getting straight back to work, hm?" She watched Dhairiss play with his sister for a moment and felt some of the tension deep inside relax its too tight grip. Savryn would be fine and if she wasn't, she had a mother who would take wonderful care of her. "You're not upset that we're moving away, are you?"
"She doesn't talk to me, Raven. Lyssie was the one who came to me with relationship problems and questions. Faate has always gone to you." Daddy's little girl to the very core of her being. "Don't call him that, Raven. I think she and Mykorian could get along very well if she'd let herself. Maybe I should encourage her to seduce him..."

Malik got up and went to the living room, and glanced at one of the dark robed necromancers that was already coming up the stairs, carrying a squirming, pale draithix.
"You're friend, Savyrn. was beyond the ability to heal. We fixed him, but in a different way. your friend is liched, and immortal. beyond pain, beyond death. if you have another accident like you did, he'll simply dissolve into dust..and reform again."
telling them to put the animal down.
"He'll eat, he'll sleep, he'll do everything he used to. but we've come up with a new way he can help you. for necromancers, there is a talent to possess our undead minions. to metally and spiritually leave our body to enter the minion. it's a common practice when facing forces that can overwhelm their magics. possessing a giant golem has it's advantages after all."
kneeling down to his daughter.
"Your accident was because I was careless. Your brothers were as inquisitive as you, and I should have been far more careful. So I have been working on modifying this enchantment, so that you share sight with another being. you friend does not use his eyes as much as his ears and his nose. So it will be hard to hold his sight, to make him use it for you."
"But if you can do this, your mother has promised to get you a new friend that is more suitable to this then your draithix. Your lack of sight has made your will strong, your resolve tougher. Would you like to try this, and if it works, at least for a short time you can see again. and the more you practice, the stronger you'll get, the longer you can hold it."

"I'm going to call it a family project and not straight back to work just yet." Following off into the room over and patiently waiting...indeed this was going to be something of merit to not. Especially how he was going to go about teaching someone something that they really visually learned over everything else.
Dhairiss let his sister alone though as things got underway...wait a minute, that draithix was dead? Now he was confused a little upset over that prospect but what with talk of some accident and him being fixed he could only think his sister accidently tripped over him or something. Knew he should have given her one that was older and less crushable.
Piper and Kaelin were indeed off to the side, sitting patiently and watching but indeed keeping a sharp eye on things. She couldn't help but want to feel nervous about such things. Luckily Kaelin was sticking with her. "Upset? No. Eventually ever child wants to leave the nest...or at least most of them do. Better for you two to want to be away this way than over something ill or the like."
Long as he was fixed, things were okay. He was moving and he was noisy again. "He's special now. Like me." Worked for her and she happoly gave a laugh at the feeling of the little creature jumping up on her and his noises, espcially the happy ones as he fished the piece of food she had for him out of her hand and the napkin it was in. Yup he was better. However she knew she should be paying attention to what he was saying from the tone of his voice and while the draithix ate she struggled a little to change her hold on him so that he was resting against her and she could pay attention.
"They get to be something else for a while?" That's how it sounded. Oh wait, voice level change. It took her amoment to look at him again as he had changed position and she had lost track for a second, ears giving a twitch telling her she was on track now. Hm that was new to hear...Dhairiss often said she was like a drathix in how she worked now but this was going to be different than pretending. Clouded eyes blinked at him before she titled her head. "I can try." Her own saying for the last few years. And hey if she could tie her own boots again, how hard could this be? "How am I supposed to do that?"
"She doesn't talk to me about those kinds of things either. We've tried before and it got awkward. So we've silently decided we're not talking about such things. Besides, she's probably worried about idiot boys interfering with her studies." Slanting a look at her, though it was almost amused over everything else. "Only calling him what he is. Why do you think it's so important for her to be involved with someone?"

getting up and glancing to the necromancer.
"put the draithix down though for this."
the necromancer stepped forward, pulling back his hood and showing the lizard-like countenance.
"first. you musst feel the life and unlife. feel the energies that make living and unliving. reach to touch through the ether. find the draithix thiss way. do not listen for him. do not touch him. but feel him."
tilting his head down.
"I will give you time to do thiss. once you can, let me know."

Sharp eyes watched the lizard-like thing step forward and Kaelin had to rein in a sharp dislike and protective feelings. Keeping her seat, she turned her ears towards Piper but kept her eyes on the proceedings. "Well, truthfully, it's Malikhai who believes we need our own place. He's very big on privacy for us for some reason. I can't fully understand his insistence since it never truly bothered him before."
"You don't like any of your daughters dating." Which was a rather amusing thing for her since she encouraged it any chance she had. "But it's not very nice and you mean it in a derogatory sense." Glancing up and meeting his gaze then dropping a kiss on his chin. "Because...she needs it. And I think she wants it, but I also think she's afraid to go after it because of her sister."

She set her little draithix down and patiently listened for a new voice that she wouldn’t be familiar this. That would be whom was supposed to help with this as she had never heard that name before and thus wouldn’t know the voice. However at his instructions…she felt lost. But…that’s how she did everything now. How was she supposed to not do the only thing she new how to do? That got a distressed noise and look from her. “Like…water?” Oh no no no. No.
This was the thing he hated most about those that worked for his dad. They were all great at what they did but they had no idea how to instruct children in the right ways. Especially someone like Savryn. “Not like water. Let me help.” He touched his sister’s shoulder to get her attention before pulling a piece of cloth from a pouch at his side and rolling it bandana style, plopping it over his sister’s eyes and ears to dull out her hearing and the taking hold of her hands so she would be forced to stay where she was and not reach out either.
Okay not like water, that was a good thing then. What was said made more sense when Dhairiss helped by forcing her in a way to comply without making her worry. Thusly she tried to do what she was told, find the little creature with just feeling the…air she supposed. There was something to this she imagined…like when she knew people were around and could avoids them. Hm…it took her a good twenty or so minutes, the draithix constantly moving around the whole time, before she lifted a hand and pointed right where the little creature had stopped to lick his toes. “There?”
Stupid downstairs staff. But she kept her mouth shut about it again, long ago giving up the issues between the staff and what not. Dhairiss seemed to understand either way and kept her mind at ease. “It’s only natural. You want to spend time with just the two of you without everyone poking their heads into your room at any hour or things like that. Believe me, you learn to appreciate privacy.” She did in Neriak…where there was little.
“Only when they’re doing it wrong.” Though he was onto her some as she was trying to butter him up throughout the conversation. “Yes I do, but at least I’m honest, right? That’s the important part.” However he watched her with some amusement. “No matter what I say to either of those girls, they still let each other get in the way. I still think it’s something you should be encouraging. Not me.”

the iksar watched them both with unblinking eyes, and tilted his head lightly. tail swishing under his robes.
"Very good. feel him. ssee him in your mind. drawn on the magic within."
the iksar did pay attention to her aversion to water though in her speaking and twitching.
"think of it a** a flame. a candle burning insside you. let it blaze, let it burn to a bonfire. feel it fill your viens, fill your mind...then reach with it. find your pet..and let your energy reach into him. command his eyes to see for you."
Malik was quietly watching. he knew the iksar knew thier stuff. they were the first norrathian necromancers after the ancient Shissar. He had hoped his daughter hd like his sons inherited a potent magical ability from both her parents.

Kae's ears perked at the sound of Savvy's small voice, filled with uncertainty. Poor girl, they weren't doing the best job of teaching her, were they? She was delicate but strong, smart but challenged. Traditional methods just didn't work. Piper's words weren't making a whole lot of sense but Kaelin could understand why Malikhai would want out of his parent's house. "But this is home to me... After my parents died it was the only place where I could find safety, comfort, and love." A shake of her head. "It's the only place I've ever found love." She studied the three siblings and their onlooking parents closely and once again felt that intangible bond that was there between them all. "Is it okay to have two homes?"
"I know. Just as the brandishing of the polearm whenever a male is around is just for show." He was rather cute that way but she appreciated his protectiveness of his daughters and firm encouragement of his sons. Some of their children were too much like her for their own good. "It's been that way since Lyssie was old enough to walk and talk. And it's so silly because they both have their own talents." A shake of her head and she reached over and lightly fondled his ear. "Think so? But you do think it's a good idea, yes?"
