A slight smirk to his wife and a glance at his son.

"Sure you don't want to extend your honeymoon?"

a shrug and looking his son over..not everything had gone according to plan he'd wager. both of them were to contrite in their answers and frankly, he was expecting them to be hanging all over each other.

"I bet that's because Keiran is locked at home with a master rune mage to stop him from running around. and their planning a visit? good. We'll have to be ready then..restock up on certain supplies like journals. Your grandfather still has a penchant for taking one to write down all the fun and new things he learns down here. or several."

"We're sure." Because extending it would mean leaving Savvy and she'd just promised the child that they weren't going anywhere for a while. Not to mention Khai was still upset with her about something that she still didn't fully understand. "They told us we could use it anytime we wanted to come for a visit or needed to get away." Kaelin stayed next to Malikhai, letting him pull out her chair and settled herself in it. "We went to see Lark and Glynnic but we couldn't stay very long. Rumor is that Lark's pregnant but Glynnic said she's just tired."

"And still he never wants to take a day off. I guess some things never change." He smirked however, "More lazy than locked I'd say. Though you'd be surprised how much she's willing to run around with him. I swear they were never home the whole time when I wanted to ask them something. But yup, they're gonna drop down in a bit." They visited at least once a year, tried to get down more and what not. "You have to keep supplying journals until he has just as many on Savvy as he has on Dhairiss and I." Heading with them to the dining room and pulling out Kaelin's seat for her before pushing his own out and plopping in it, leaning back some in it. "She didn't look pregnant to me. You know, they get that look. If anything I think she's trying to run herself into the ground with this whole ruling, council, tribunal, whatever it is now thing."

Which almost got a head bonk for Savvy as she was trotting by to her own seat, save for Yinn who had followed down and tugged on her dress to pull her away from the chair and thus out of the way, letting her tug away from him after a pet and she got to her seat, pulling it down and sitting in it as he took his place under the table. For scraps of course.

Khai got one of those looks from his mother...he knew better and any vacation time didn't excuse him for not being careful. Savvy had this whole house mapped out in her head to a degree, some places better than others and those measurements couldn't change or she was more or less lost. But to her credit she didn't say anything and merely pushed Savvy's chair closer to the table, sitting in her own seat between her and Malik.

Malik nodded lightly.

"they rule through a joint council now, like Kelethin did on norrath. I never much cared for that style of rule, myself. but considering the society I was accustomed to, it was foolish. all the most powerful leaders in one place was a coup waiting to happen."

letting food be served and making a steeple with his hands in front of him lightly.

"Galesen has been slacking a bit in his duties that he never mentioned a rumor as serious as that. That's a big event, after all. I'm sure he's been playing in the rain more then I'd like."

A slight grin.

"Oh, that reminds me. During your stay, Kaelin, you need to go to Vesendar. several of your paintings are on display, and people have been asking to see the artist in person. I think Zykariel has been singing praises and using some of his connections in social circles to give you more prominance."

"Or he knew that it wasn't true and didn't feel the need to report false news. There's only speculation because they haven't made an official announcement." She completely missed what Malikhai had done or she would have given him a glare as well but her attention was caught on Malik. "Oh..." Biting her lip and simply giving a nod. Malikhai sung her praises but her paintings had always been private, given as gifts or left in her room. Her head dropped, uncertain what else she should say.

He shrugged in news to Galesen, not that he had really checked in on that elf. Though he did snicker at the rain joke, knowing what it meant. "I woulddn't worry about it, after all Kae is right. Just a rumor and we know for a fact that it's not even true. Maybe he checked it out as well." Not excusing Galesen, but he just didn't want to focus on him. But a look over to Kaelin at then mention of such things and she got quiet and shy about the matter. He knew how to handle that however. "Leave it to Zykariel to drum up interest in things. I think it's a good thing. After all, it makes you happy to paint and if it makes other people happy to look at them, all the better. Hey if you don't want people bothering you, you can always throw them a sheep, so to speak. Decoys are fun."

Food was given out in the usual amounts, and a slight annoyance and someone was sent to fetch Dhairiss. family dinner meant family dinner. though a glance at the newly weds and keeping quiet, though making sure things were arranged as needed for his daughter.

"Yes, leave it to him."

glancing at his son.

"and you really didn't think you were going to hide that you were building your own home without me knowing, were you? Why didn't you let me know I could have had them working on it while you were gone. Then you'd have it done by now."

She gave him a smile and caught his hand under the table, giving it a squeeze in gratitude. She never knew how to respond to his father...now her father-in-law and that was just a frightening thought. "I suppose I should devise some kind of signature if they're going to be expecting me to paint more." Especially since her name had changed now. Frowning at the turn the conversation had taken, she nibbled her bottom lip. Would he be mad? "Malikhai and I wanted to do it ourselves. We drew up the plans while we were in Andal."

"That's something to think of, given them a name to at least talk about." Who knew, maybe the exposure would be a good thing for her...she'd at least have other people who could relate more to her art and get her a new group of friends aside from old school ones. Good old dad though, couldn't hide anything from him. "We didn't really start thinking about it too much until we were away. So we weren't hiding it persay, just procrastinating on it." Nodding to Kaelin's words on the matter, "You know, have some space of our own, away from the siblings and such."

Hey, so he had been slow coming back from camping. Wasn't his fault those two were back home earlier than he thought they would be. But he didn't complain, merely dropped his gear in his room changed his clothes and joined them at the dinner table. "Moving out hm? I thought they were going to try to get rid of me first."

"Kaelin said you weren't leaving right away." Because she had promised and for her, it wasn't something you could change on the fly. "So they can't leave yet, daddy." Letting herself in on the conversation. Even if their house was done, they couldn't leave yet. However she also ate like her father, preferring to eat everything on her plate than to pick at it.

"I was beginning to think none of you were going to want to leave here." It wasn't liek her and Malik were pushing them out the door either. But sh e knew even if those two were going to move out, it wasn't like they would never see them. Khai worked for his father after all.

Malik gave a glance to Dhairiss.

"My vaults would be much safer. speaking of which. I'm missing three daggers from the plane of fire. I'll expect them back after dinner. or there will be consequences."

glancing at this oldest.

"I understand that perfectly well, and I don't mind it at all. It's good to have your own place. Just saying that had I known in advance it would be ready by now for you to move in."

"We aren't," she reassured the child once more just to make sure she didn't think that Kaelin had lied to her or anything like that. "It was nice being alone and we both feel that it would be better for us to have our own home. Malikhai believes we need more privacy." She grinned as Dhairiss appeared. "Did you have fun camping, Dhair? We thought of you so many times while we were in Andal and your brother found something he really thought you'd like. I'll get it for you after dinner." Then giving a happy grin to her brother-in-law. "Malikhai helped me make Yinn listen to me today." Yes, that was pride in her voice.

"I've got them upstairs in my room. Wanted to see how good somthing like that was at campfire like uses." He did love to take fancy things and find simple uses for them, if they would even do such things. "Oh come on, everytime I get in you come up with a new security measure. I'm helping. But no worries, they'll get back." Grinning in his usual way turning a look to Kaelin. "Yeah, me and Kelligrin found these really interesting caves and camped them out." Tilting his head in inquisitive manner however, "Bringing back presents and Yinn paying attention to someone else than Khai? Sounds like it's a good day for everyone."

That was cute, she did so enjoy beind proud of her little accomplishments and she deserved to. While she entertained his brother however he paid attention to his father still. "I suppose we could have sent a note back home once we decided, but we wanted to say something about it all in person. Hey, if you want to start building something feel free. I do know how you love your little projects."

Being ignored or glossed over from her father wasn't anything new for her and thus she didn't react in any way but normal, giving a grin as Kaelin reassured her promise and Savvy continued to tend to her food...that is of course after she had deciphered what was there and had meticulously sectioned things off within the bounds of her plate.

"No. I have another task for you, Dhairiss. after you return things, you're going to be helping your sister. that goes for you too, Malikhai. I've been working on a present of my own for my daughter, and hopefully it will work as planned. if it does, both of you are going to have some new chores to do."

Giving a slight grin to his daughter, though she couldn't see it, and mussing her hair lightly.

"And I'll let you have your own house project. you know me...before long it would be some grand palace or your mother would lock me in a room away from everyone till it was built. whichever came first."

Kaelin stayed quiet throughout the exchange but she couldn't help sneaking a glance over to Piper to see what she thought about all of this. Malik didn't often give things to his daughter and the newest member of the family began wondering about ulterior motives. The need to protect the child swelled and she set her fork down beside her plate for a moment to collect her emotions and not tip Khai off. "Is it dangerous?"

The two bothers shared a look with one another though they had long ago learned to veil their surprise when it came to such things. They all knew the tension between their father and sister. Khai liked to see it as improvement though when Malik did respond better to her than he usually did. Like his mother said...he couldn't be mad forever, or he'd eventually miss out on his only daughter. He sideglanced Kaelin as she put down her fork but not in the done eating manner. "Everything has a certain amount of danger to it. That's unavoidable." Nodding then, "Fair enough. We don't want a castle anyway."

"Yeah, besides, mom would kill him if it was anything too dangerous. She did it with me and Khai, so Savvy is no exception. Long as there's plenty of comfort to go around, I wouldn't think it too bad." Blinking then, "Um...chores?" The humor aside, the whole prospect was odd. What was dad up to? "Family affair then."

Hm, involving the boys too. That was interesting but she kept her mouth shut on the matter as she had already agreed to it all. At least give it a try and even if Malik wasn't the warmest to Savryn all the time...he'd never hurt her. She did believe that. "I would lock you in the bedroom the moment I saw the extravagent blueprints I'm sure."

Savryn practically lit up at the petting she received as well as the validation and praise. A pleasant happy noise was what she gave in return, as her mouth was full of carrot at the time, showing in her own way her glee. She was getting so many presents today, and she should as she had been very good lately...save for her friend but he was fixed now.
