Kaelin clucked her tongue. "Those boys. Always leaving you behind, aren't they? Well, I'm here to play with you now. Shall we go to the nursery or would you rather play outside or in the solarium?" She rather liked it in there since it reminded her of Andal. "Because Malikhai and I need our own house to live in." She bit her lip sometimes when she thought of it, though. Malikhai had talked about privacy before the wedding and given her a wink that she still had no idea what it was all about. "But we'll come visit you a lot and you can come visit us, too."

"Boys are not fun." Taking Kaelin's hand and starting off, leading and yet letting someone guide as well. "The Solarium, mama hasn't been able to take me out there." It was such a nice place. The picture in her head told her it was pretty and it was full of things that felt and smelled nice. "Does being married mean you need your own house? What if no one can visit anyone?"

Unbidden, a smile rose to her lips. She could see Malikhai's emphatic response of 'yes' and nearly chuckled. She, privately, disagreed. Perhaps she'd speak to her mother-in-law and get her take on such things. Piper usually knew what her son was thinking and why. "Yes, it's better for married couples to live by themselves. Just like your mommy and daddy did when they get married. And your Aunt Zahara and Uncle Sevilin as well. And now even your cousin Zykariel has his own house and he's not even married." She let the child lead, only correcting slightly before they were walking into the garden-like environment. "You'll always be able to visit, Savvy. And you'll learn where things are in our house just like you did in your own."

"But they don't live by themselves. There's lots of people here." Sure, they were the staff but most of them stayed in the house and that to her constituted as them living there. "If he's not married, he shouldn't have a house." This was confusing on some levels. "Do you get a house when you grow up?" Probably meant that. Letting Kaelin go, she plopped down on her knees in the grass, running her fingers through it. "And you won't move them around?" Mama and daddy were still yelling at people for moving things around.

"But they don't live with your grandparents, either, do they, Savvy? Your mother moved in with your father when she married him. Everyone else is just a bonus, like you and your brothers." Ruffling the child's hair and then watching as she went to reacquaint herself with all things nature. "You can if you want to, like Zykariel did, but you don't have to which is why Malikhai lived with your parents for so long. But once you get married, you really need to live in your own house." She settled down next to the child and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Not at all. I promise. Yinn will miss you, though. You have to come visit him so he won't be sad."

She started feeling out individual blades of grass as she was listening to Kaelin trying to explain things and well it didn't really clear anything up. She supposed having your own house was just like everything else that had to do with being older; it came in time eventually. Eventually she picked a single blade of glass. "Yinn is leaving too? But who is going to scratch his wings?" Tugging at Kaelin to make sure she was paying attention then. "Watch, Dhairiss taught me." Placing the blade between her thumbs and bringing it to her mouth she blew into her thumbs and the piece of grass, producing a whistle. "Isn't it neat?"

"Yes, Yinn loves your brother and your brother loves him. He'll come with us and we'll take good care of him." She didn't have to hide the smile since the child couldn't see but she did change the inflection of her voice. Savryn picked up the subtleties that most elves didn't. "Well, I don't know. I suppose Malikhai or I could do it but we don't do it quite right. Not like you, anyway. You'll just have to visit often and do it for us." Watching the girl produce the same trick Malikhai had taught her years ago. "Very neat. What else did you learn how to do while I was gone?"

"Your hands are too big to get in the little spots that he likes. That's why I'm the best at it." And no one could convince her otherwise of that. "Are you going to be far away?" Far away meant lots of traveling and she wasn't too keen on traveling at all. But she studied her piece of grass, really for no reason, as she thought about things when the couple were gone. "Oh!" Shifting her position so that she was sitting on her behind and her legs were out before her, pointing to draithix chewed boot laces. "I can tie my boots again like I used to!" Never knew how hard it was to tie your boots until you couldn't see yourself doing it.

"No, not too far. You won't be able to come see us by yourself until you're older, though. Little elves don't need to be wandering around the Underdark alone." Kaelin watched the little girl for a moment and then dutifully glanced down at her boots and grinned. "Really? I knew you'd be able to." She and Piper had both been gently nudging the child to relearn that valuable task. "Did you practice making a sandwich, too? You know how much I like those when we have parties with your friends." Friends being her draithix and a few of her stuffed toys, of course.

Malik's ears perked a little and nodded to his wife.

"Indeed that's true. but there's not a whole lot we can do without knowing more. I wouldn't want to go thre looking to destroying these devices only to find destroying them does the same effect as your siblings using them would."

but patting his wife on the thigh.

"Give me a few moments. I need to check on something downstairs for our daughter."

Before getting up and going downstairs.

"Progress?"

"Some. any fatal injury causes the draithix to explode in a ashen cloud and reform..so permenance is there. but the use..draithix use thier ears and nose more then thier eyes. keeping the eyes sight transfesrance doesn't work well as the draithiz wants to use it's other senses more. you'll need something that uses it's eyesight primarily."

Malik frowned some.

"Like a bird...a hunting bird at that. But that gives some added advantages as well. the bird can fly and scout father ahead..can see much father then most other animals can anyway."

Malik nodded.

"It's finding a bird of prey that is a problem. but we can use the draithix for now to train my daughter on this new ability. she'll have to be taught basic necromancy for it and you'll be in charge of that as well."

"Underdark is dangerous." Repeating what she had been told time after time and merely assumed that meant it was all about having an adult with her. But happily she tapped her boot toes together. "Mhm, I laced them up and tied them all by myself." She was pretty proud of herself over that too. However she shook her head about the food business. "Keely wouldn't let me. She said there was too much going on and didn't want me to get knocked over."

His little parting got a raised eyebrow from her. Something for Savryn? he hadn't mentioned anything about that...save she knew he felt guilty about what had happened and had been researching more and more lately. But she stayed with Delta while Malik wandered off. Odd.

"I'm so proud of you for trying again until you finally got it. I knew you could." Heaping on the praise because Savryn really did need it. She fought tooth and nail for praise from her father and it was rare that it ever came. Her mother gave it to her without fail and Kaelin just loved seeing the little girl blossom under it. "Its hard to do things like that when it's really busy. We'll try again later, okay?" Thus standing and tapping the child on the shoulder. "Do you want to sit under the big tree with me while I tell you a story?"

Of course she beamed under praise from the other as she earned herself some validation from someone other than her mother. "We have to do it alone, Keely went home for a few days." After all, Keely was only human with a family of her own and as she got older, her time was more free to do as she pleased. A look over to tapping and she got herself up. "A story about what?"
PostPosted: Fri Jul 17, 2009 7:05 pm

"Did she?" Kaelin wondered how Malikhai would feel knowing his old friend wasn't here right now to welcome him back home. Then again, she'd given them both a hug and had whispered something to Khai right before they'd walked through the gate. She still wondered what that was... "A princess. I learned a new story while I was in Andal. One I think you'll like a lot." Taking the child's hand, she walked with her to the tree, avoiding the small pond completely and settled down with her in her lap. "Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess...." And so the story went with Kaelin making noises and tickling the child at random points as she regaled her with a story about a dragon, the princess, and a high tower that couldn't be climbed except with a special kind of magic.

Malik came back upstairs and settled back in his seat.

"what did I miss, anything?"

before patting his wife's thigh again and squeezing it lightly. good news..mostly. but getting a bird of prey might proof annoying at best..difficult at worse.
