Onyx frowned lightly, following after.
"depends on the thing and it's uses. you know some little knick type items can do some pretty dangerous things in the right hands. I mean you'd never think a book was dangerous, until you put one in the hands of a sorceror."

Galesen was a bit surprised that his uncle was able to actually snap his blade in half, but with the fire being strong it was plausible. A glare was made at the damn insult his uncle threw at him and Galesen's hands turned into fists. "You want magic? Then take it!" By drawing up his energy Galesen threw both fists forward as if he was going to punch someone, and so caused the ground around him to instantly freeze as the air was filled with hard shards flying toward Renakar. "Take it all if you want it so damn much!" That energy boost that Sevilin gave him was helping, combined with what he had he was able to create ice quicker and better than what he could have before.

That was much better. He watched the ice and formed a fire shield around himself that wasn't strong enough to withstand all of the shards. The ones that managed to find their way through his flaming shield burned him on contact. Damn that rune mage for making his nephew that much stronger. "You want a blade? I'll show you a man's blade," he shot back. The fire coursing around him drew together into a rather large b*****d sword made entirely of flames and Renakar jumped intending to kill from above, his sword ripping open Galesen's chest since he had chosen to appear without armor of any kind.

Well the ice attack went a lot better then he had thought it would, so that gave Galesen the proof that he could indeed finish off Renakar with out much worry. But after he was able to pull out of his attack Galesen manage to spot his uncle before he felt the blow. When the blow struck him Galesen felt little pain, but mostly he felt the warmth of the fire on him, it did hurt but at the same time it felt familiar. Suddenly he found himself staring upward as he laid on his back, blood seeped out of the wound on his chest as his clothes clung to him burned and torn. His eyes felt heavy and before he knew it, everything was gone.
"Galesen I must show you this, this will help you if you were to ever face your uncle." Galesen was a babe again, and he was staring at his father who was the same as the last time he saw him in a memory recall. Of course he watched his father closely as he turned around and grabbed something he could not see. There was a noise as his father tensed up before he turned around and showed Galesen that his finger was cut and a drop of blood was on the tip.
"Now, this drop of blood is what keeps us alive, it goes throughout your body sustaining it and whatnot. But when applied to magic, it can be used in many different ways, and your grandfather found one of those ways." Draken turned his finger over to the floor and Galesen watched quietly from his mother's arms as the blood fell down and hit the floor. Suddenly the air got colder and ice began to form around the blood, as the ice was created it took on a red-pinkish hue as the blood was mixed with it. When the little spire of ice was finished forming it had the blood mixed in it completely.
"Now most people would think mixing blood and ice is no big deal. But your grandfather found out that since blood gives off energy, when mixed with ice it can be keep going by the ice since it is kept cold, and at the same time the ice is kept frozen because the blood feeds it energy slowly so it doesn't melt. This creation he dubbed Blood Ice and used it against your uncle to defeat him by trapping him in a sphere of it." After pressing a rag to his finger Draken ran his other hand through Galesen's hair as he smiled. "If you are ever to face him, use this Galesen. One drop is all you need, but if you have to, use enough to get rid of him my son." Galesen made a small noise as both his parents looked down at him. "And remember, we will always love you." Then they were gone.
If there was one thing Galesen hated the most was coming back to reality after getting a bad wound on his body. He came out of his blackout with a small hiss as he felt the wound on his chest with each move he made. He pressed one hand to his chest and pulled it away to reveal blood and lots of it. Closing his eyes Galesen slowly stood up as he kept that same hand on his chest, when he stood fully he opened his eyes to look at his uncle who seemed to be coming toward him, no doubt to give the death blow. "Come on Flameblade...is that all you can do?" Smiling he rand his hand down from the top of the wound to the bottom and surprisingly enough red ice covered over it. "I'm not done yet."

His sword raised to lop his nephew's head off, he was a bit taken aback when the boy smiled at him, newfound knowledge gleaming in his eyes. So, he'd discovered the secret, had he? Well then. Renakar could use his blood to strengthen his magic, too. He'd broken free of the ice wall long before Galesen's alert had gone off but he hadn't been ready yet to die. Now he was. He was old, tired, and had learned all he'd wanted to learn. Plus, he'd finally hunted down his twin and killed him. Yes, there was much more to the story than Galesen had been told, much more than even Galesen's father had told. But those secrets would die with him.
He'd given his nephew a worthy fight and he'd even give him some semblance of victory as well. He leapt forward with a battle cry, raising his sword once more in an arc as he brought the blade crashing down.

Aella rolled her eyes. "It's not that important. It's hardly useful as much else but a paper weight. But some fat cat on the surface wants it. So via scrupulous connections, the last line falls to me to obtain it."
"Old underdark junk fetches a fair price on the surface now. You'd think they'd been up there a thousand years the way they act." She approached the outer walls. Not too long ago, she wold have been met with a line of archers and cold stares. But Deep Water's history proved it to become too comfortable with it's lack of rival cities.

a light chuckle.
"I've heard comments like that before. but you have me at your side even if it can be more then a paperweight."
looking at the walls, and glancing at Aella.
"so..where is this thing in here? some vault or someone's room?"
Malik was watching, and his eyes narrowed. something was off. if you wanted to kill someone, you certainly didn't step back when they were on the ground with a chest wound, frozen over or not. And he wasn't bragging, so Malik didn't think it as bravado or a 'try again' type action. this guy didn't seem so far the type to keep his mouth shut if he was looking to show off.
"Something doesn't sit right. why didn't he just finish galesen when he was on his back and defenseless if he wanted him dead so badly."

Galesen watched carefully as his uncle was staring at him in shock, yeah he learned the technique that was able to seal Renakar away, now it was time to use it another way. "You guys better grab Sevilin and get out of here. I'm serious this time, move it." That was his only warning as he opened the one hand that was free of blood and called back his katana to his hand. A quick look revealed that the metal was snapped off close to the handle, but that gave him enough room for what he wanted to do.
Quickly he took his hand that was covered in blood and closed it in an open fist around the end of the metal stump on his katana. As he pulled away like he was drawing a sword Galesen took all the blood that was on his hand and mixed it with the ice he was turning into a blade. When he was done Galesen held his katana again but this time he had a red ice blade instead of a regular blade. When his uncle came toward him Galesen took off, holding his blade close to himself as he ran on. As he saw Renakar leap toward him Galesen put on the breaks and thrusted his sword forward, he felt it strike something and then there was a loud noise that took the world away.
For the others that noise was followed by a big rush of air as dust and dirt swept from the force of the two of them going head to head. There was an intense heat followed by cool air, as suddenly a pillar of red ice began to form as at the same time the ground and everything on it began to freeze over as well with red ice. After a moment of the ice spreading far out as the pillar rose it all stopped, the ice covered a good kilometer or two, but luckily it didn't reach any housing. The pillar was pretty tall and it was pretty thick. The air around the area was thick with a fine mist, as the air was really cold. As for Galesen, he was at the center of the all, kneeling before the pillar with what was left of his katana stuck in the ice, his eyes were closed as his head was bowed down like he was praying, but with all that energy spent in that final strike he was completely out.

Finally. Galesen's sword did indeed strike something but it didn't deliver the death blow. Instead it glanced off Renakar's sword as he moved it sideways to block and then allowed fire to swirl around him, hiding his body from his nephew's eyes. While blood red ice was forming, Renakar lifted his blade and drove it into his own chest. His blade was absorbed into the fire that was steadily dying around him and he fell to the ground lifeless.

Nothing a runic shield couldn't fix for him, despite side effects it caused to him. They were nothing. As the dust and such settled Sevilin gave a cough, swatting at the air around him from where he sat on the little battlefield, ice and such around the place where he was. "Always with the running. Doesn't he know that running gets you nowhere fast?" Planting his polearm in the ground he pulled himself up to stand, though leaned against his weapon. "That's a pain that's going to linger..."
Looking over to Galesen he gave a sigh, "Suppose you won't be having anymore magic problems. If you do after that, well then...you're just weird like I've said all along." Sure, Galesen was out, didn't mean he wasn't getting his reprimand. Limping over and grabbing Gale by the back of his jacket collar he pulled him away from the ice pillar...what an eyesore that thing was.

"Oh no you don't."
Malik stormed over to the dead body, and grabbed hold of it, lifting it up and pinning it with a hand to some of the ice.
"Really think your going to get away that easy after all your insults to my House? hardly. you have a couple questions to answer."
looking around and finding one of the shards of ice...well it wasn't much but it should work for now. at least to move to a different location.
"Your soul won't escape me even if your flesh did. for someone so eager for combat, to not finish off an enemy when they were weakest, and then to run yourself through...that raises questions I want answers for."

Aella scaled the wall, not looking back to see if Onyx was following.
"Oh, somewhere around the middle I think. Should be in one of the ladies in waiting's chambers."
The two of them made quick work crossing the city, moving as shadows across the narrow streets and alleys. The palace loomed up in front of them, and with the guards seemed to take no notice o their passing. Of course, Aella had paid a few of them off to be looking the other way about now. They were inside before anyone saw so much as a tail or drapped piece of silk.

Onyx followed behind, close and claws at the ready.
"that was a little too easy for breaking into a palace. I mean...you'd think there'd be more trouble."
glancing around lightly and wings falring only a bit for quick gliding if need be.
"How close are we."

"A little gold or steel and humans go blind. It will be more difficult inside."
Inside, the two stuck to the wall and moved through the palace shadows. Staying quiet and moving past people with out attraction attention. Climbing across decorative buttresses and wall hangings where they could, before coming up to the third floor.
In a soft whisper, 'We should be able to find a servants passage up ahead. But it's narrow, we'll need to make sure it's clear first."

Onyx gave a nod, and sniffed the air, carefully.
"I smell at least six scents that aren't ours. of those, probably three are relatively recent. or at least the strongest. so either it's people that come up here all the time, or been here recently."
a glance at her, eyes shining a bit in the dark, pupils dilating some for the light.
"By clear...does that mean we eliminate those that are in the way, or just subdue and incapacitate?"
