The claw was brittle from the heat, she snapped open and slurped up the inside. "I guess."
She finished eating in silence, thinking about this and that and all that had transpired over the last few years and wondering if she might ever talk about it. She decided she probably wouldn't, and stood.
Aella wiped the dirt from her silks. "I have a job from a guy in Deep Water. You coming?"

"It was worth a shot. he made flames that didn't burn you, was hoping this would be more for show as well with him concentrating more on Galesen then keeping us out."
glancing at Sevilin.
"At this point I'm regretting not listening to that idea."
then back to the flaming pillar.
"Honestly, unless this guys got something other then flame, I'd say he's going to lose. even if his flame overruns the ice, the melt off the ice douses flame. it'd have to be a pretty hot fire to negate that, and even a mage of flame would probably roast in that kind of heat."
"What kind of job is it? and you know I'd go with you anywhere you wanted to go."
finishing off his legs and claw, before getting himself up and stretching lightly.
"and you know if it's a hunting type job, I'm always open for one of those."

She gave her staff a quick shake, separating some of the bells that had become tangled.
"It's sort of a hunting type job."
She wondered what it would be like if she had to wait for night to fall. It might be nice. Her pale skin and hair would still stand out in the soft greenish light of the underdark. She chanted a quick incantation which seemed to bleach the colour from her, leaving her a monochrome of black.
"Have you ever been inside the Deep Water palace?"

"Oh you guys are a lot of help." Galesen muttered to himself as he heard Malik and Sevilin still talking about putting him on a spit. But before he had attacked his uncle Galesen had already thought of taking off his gauntlets, but he was worried that all that energy being let loose would be bad instead of good. When the rune suddenly appeared on them he looked back toward Sevilin for a moment. "Give me a moment. And Malik you must of been deaf because he and my grandfather trained in all of the elemental magics, not just fire or ice." Though at the moment things were getting interesting anyway as he looked back to his uncle with narrowed eyes. "How can I owe my loyalty to a family I know nothing about? Besides, you're a Flameblade so stop trying to speak to me as if you are a Coldiron." He looked at his blade which was in his uncle's hand before he looked back to the man.
There was a moment of silence as it seemed that Renakar wanted to keep him from fighting. "Really?" Galesen's eyes narrowed again as the cogs in his head began to turn. "The only reason you're here is because I'm your only threat. Without me around you got nothing to fear and can do what you started all those years ago. But mass genocide is not my to do list." Galesen backed up a little so he could have some distance between them. "Besides, my parents made sure that I know all about you through my memories and if they do serve me correctly, my mother and father had me for quite awhile before they passed on, they could of told me all that there is really needed to know about everything of the history of the surface and my real family." With a quick moment of his hands Galesen took off his gauntlets and threw them away. With them off the air suddenly chilled quickly as those around Galesen could feel the energy inside him finally being released. But whatever was closer to Galesen was colder than most, even his skin gained a tint of red from the cool air but he held strong since he had to deal with the cold in his body. The fire began to ebb again but not enough to kill them. "So, are you going to kill the fire around you and show your real self, or am I going to have to freeze you like your brother did to finally be rid of you once and for all?" With those words Galesen charged up a bit of magic in his hand and then threw his hand forward, causing pretty large ice shards to appear and fly toward his uncle.

"I pay attention, Galesen. but just becuase your trained in it doesn't make you good at it. you being a case in point. just becuase you can wield a sword doesn't mean you can beat me or sevilin with one."
crossing his arms lightly.
"I'm not fond of the waiting game. just kill him already."
Onyx titled his head at that.
"That's an interesting trick. and no, I've never been in Deepwater's palace. is it a thing, or a someone we're hunting down?"
exposing his claws lightly and flexing his fingers.

Renakar's eyebrow lifted and he scoffed, "You know nothing about a family yet you believe they told you the truth in it's entirety? That's quite a contradiction, Galesen. How do you know they told you the truth? How do you know you aren't the evil one I was sent to track down and kill?" He lifted a hand and froze the icicles in their path then plucked them out of the air and tested their points. "Not near sharp enough. Have you learned nothing boy?" Tossing them to the ground and watching them shatter. "Too brittle as well. Let's see if you learned anything about parrying." He copied Galesen's move and tossed three flaming cones his way instead.
"And that's exactly why you can take care of your own hand." She watched the flames for a moment and frowned. "Sevilin can you isolate his fire at all? We might not be able to fight him but we should at least be able to barrage his fiery shield until it falls. With three of us, it'll fall sooner than he can repair and maintain it." But something else was bothering her as well. "Which begs the question then, why is he here to fight? If he knows he can't win then it's foolish to come seeking out a fight unless he's under a mistaken impression or suicidal."

"I have brilliant ideas all the time. No one just ever wants to listen to them." Rolling his eyes as Galesen was more content to argue with them and let his gaurd down than to keep his head focused. Young elves, what was wrong with them? Handing his polearm to Zahara he walked up to the wall of flames and gave them a once over. "I think in this case...we can take a page from Dhairiss' book in a sense." Snapping his fingers to get a point of energy to each index fingers and placing them together against the fire, his tolerance for pain far outweighing discomfort from it all and he drew his fingers apart, causing a break in the fire before twisting his wrist to draw another quick pattern. One finger pulled off and pointed to the ground, a spark of energy connecting between his finger and the ground. "Good news. It's siphonable."
Stepping back away from it he retreived his polearm from his wife once more and planted it firmly in the ground before taking a stance and starting into a runing series, looking to the other two. "You both know this one, give me a hand. We're going to siphon this thing off. Store point is goign to be my polearm."

"Because Galesen and this guy obviously are on two different playing fields. this guys been in combat. been a soldier for who knows how long. he's disciplined, he's focused, and he's dangerous. Galesen may have elemental dominance, but Galesen is no where near a trained soldier."
glancing at Sevilin.
"Sure your polearm isn't going to melt on us?"
but adding in the runic workings of his own.
"and did you teach Dhairiss how to do that little trick of his? because I'll have to hit you with something later if you did."

"I just know I can trust them. They cared for me, I could sense how loving they were." Galesen narrowed his many thoughts down and just kept his eyes on his uncle, allowing his magic energy to be released faster cooling the air considerably enough that the fire could barely reach him. But at his question Galesen just tapped his head and smiled. "The connection between you and I, I can sense a lot about you just like you can do with me. All I sense is hate for others." But he kept his mouth shut as his uncle seemed to mock him by checking his icicles, no need to get angry over something so small. But when a counter attack was launched Galesen raised his hands, each hand cooled the air around them considerably enough to douse the first two fire cones with little burn marks afterward but when the third got too close Galesen covered himself by raising his arms to block his face.
When the fire cone got close enough it reacted with the cool air around surrounding Galesen, but manage to push on through to send him back on his a**, but that didn't keep the elf down and he quickly got back on his feet. "Enough talking!" Focusing on his magic he raised an arm high and ice began to rise out of the ground in the form of stalagmites and they rose quickly. As they appeared Galesen ducked and weaved between them, trying to close the gap between him and his uncle as he began to release more ice shards toward his uncle, he wanted to get close enough to get his sword back and tip the playing field.

"Ah, ah, ah." Renakar merely stood in place and watched, ignoring the stalagmites since any that came close enough to harm him were blunted by the fire. Sharp, narrow tips meant quick melting which dulled them right back down. True that a bit of his fire was put out by the water but not enough to bother him. Renakar threw up a shock shield that unless Galesen had instant brakes, he was going to run smack into and become paralyzed by a wall he couldn't even see. "You're not in control at all, are you boy?" He threw his head back and laughed at his little temper tantrum. "The almighty House you claim such loyalty to didn't even care enough to teach you to harness your power. Pathetic."
Zahara wasn't so sure but she understood what Sevilin was doing. "Harnessing another's energy...could be risky. I like it." Regardless that there were three of them, it was still slow work. Runes could be highly temperamental and when fire was added in, extra care had to be taken. She also knew it was only a matter of time before Galesen's opponent recognized what they were doing and took action. "Give the energy to Galesen. It'll give him the required boost he needs to beat this sonofabitch."

"It won't melt. That thing is four hundred years old, I don't think it's going to give out on me just yet." Smirking lightly, "Sorry but I didn't teach him anything. He figured that one out on his own, I'm just exploiting the reminder of such things."
Of course the three of them working on it helped but he was making sure to do the bulk of it, as he was the one with a body that could handle it. The polearm being the center focus of redirection had lit up with all the various runes scribed on it as it was harnessing what was pushed into it.
He nodded as Zahara had caught where they could go with this. Malik was right, for all his trying, topping someone trained was near impossible. Thus it had to be a sheer power play between them and Galesen was going to get a boost. The wall of fire broke as the last of internal energy it had was siphoned off. "This is going to hurt..."
Without a word of it, he grabbed his polearm, the weapon cracking off bolts of energy around him in protest for it's own field being disrupted as he had grabbed it. But there were more things to focus on that angry energy and runic bleeding at the moment and thus he was quick to take the opportunity of the fire break to jump into the fray with Galesen and the mage.
Polearm still in one hand, he quickly scribed a rune with Galesen as the targert and yanked, rope runing the boy out of his run and pulling him back to him. "You're going to owe me big for this." A flip of his pole arm and a movement of fingers and the energy in the weapon shot straight through him and into Galesen with Sevilin as the conduit for the transfer. Oh yeah, that was some pain.

Malik lifted up Malvolence when the flames receded, and the blade glowed bright red with anticipation of it's own.
"I haven't fed Malvolence in some time. come on then, fireball..why not test yourself against someone who's a little more eager for a fight."
Of course...yeah that barb about not teaching Galesen stung a bit. it was part of his duty as the patriarch to make sure people were up to par...or gotten rid of.
"I never trained him to be a soldier because he was more useful to me as a liason. and I can't hold everyone's damned hands all the time. You want some insulting, back it up with something a little more solid."

Galesen had to wonder what his uncle was doing, he didn't move much and he still had the katana, one would think they would start attacking after disabling an opponent but that was not the case. "It's on my to do list." Letting the little jabs that his uncle kept on making fall to the side, Galesen got ready to get in close and personal. But he felt a familiar tug and suddenly felt himself being pulled back a yard or so right next to Sevilin. "Sevilin!?" Of course he wanted some help battling his uncle, but he didn't expect for Sevilin to actually come in the way he was looking at the moment, but then again Sevilin would fight in anyway way he had to. It seemed that whatever the others were up to Galesen wouldn't have a say in it because suddenly he felt a large jolt of energy run through him. This caused Galesen to kneel down on one leg as his body had to get use to the surge of energy that was put into him.
Galesen had realized that even though he was going to be as powerful as his uncle, the energy that was going to be granted to him was taking forever to be released form where ever it was stored; but Galesen put that to the fact that his body needed to get use to the energy first before more came along. So when he felt that sudden leap of energy it helped him get even closer to being as powerful as he needed to be.
With a small grunt Galesen managed to stand on his own two legs as he could feel new energy coursing through his body. "That's...better." A look to Sevilin and he smiled. "Thank you." He then took off again, ice was trailing behind him as he formed more in front of himself with little ease. He then stretched his hand out and focusing on his katana, he learned a long time ago how to at least attract metal toward himself in case he ever found himself weaponless like he was at the moment. His katana moved a little, but when he focused more of his energy he managed to pull it away and bring it back to himself.
Gripping it Galesen smiled as very thick ice began to form over his weapon, when the ice covered his blade from top to bottom Galesen took it and tossed it toward his uncle. When it struck the ground Galesen made the ice leap out quickly to distract his uncle. When it managed to do that Galesen covered the distance between them and grabbed his blade, covering it in ice again as he brought it up in an arch like swing, when he struck Renakar Galesen smiled as he saw the fire ebb enough to reveal some sort of armor underneath as his blade glanced off it. If he were to focus hard enough he could kill the fire long enough to see a weak spot and exploit it, not matter how strong the flame was going to be, still he kept on the attack.

She smiled half-heartedly. "You wander around the underdark, you pick up a few spells."
She started to walk off, trailing back down to Deep Water, which is actually the primary reason she came back to this area in the first palace. "It's a thing. It's amazing the amount of money humans will pay for some silly statuette."

He hadn't anticipated the rune mage to get involved after his shield went up, but he did recognize immediately what was happening. He had a quartzite stone that would give him a similar power boost but the chances that he was going to be able to hold out against double the strength of his own magic was pretty slim. Galesen was still playing around, however, and Renakar shook his head. Why was he dragging this fight out? Clearly he wasn't going to be a man and just finish him off. Malik was basically ignored as Renakar drew his errant flames into himself to conserve the rest of his energy, activated the stone and once again jerked Galesen's blade away from him, breaking it in half despite the hissing pain in caused him from the direct contact with the strengthened ice. "Stop trying to cut me up like you're going to serve me for supper. Use your magic or nothing at all. By the flames!"
Zahara was less than happy with the direction Sevilin had gone considering the damage he was doing to himself by becoming the conduit. He should have used her since she'd been maintaining that position for the energy transfers between Piper and Malik for however much time Piper had been pregnant. It all seemed to blur together after a while. "We can see what's going on now and that's better than nothing." She watched for a moment and merely rolled her eyes. "It's not even worth watching now."
