Lilygwen Camwen I got up to one million once.. but it was only temporary as I was selling one expensive item to buy a different expensive item. razz Too bad you can't earn interest at the local Gaian bank. lol gaia_nitemareleft Haha, that would be great, though I think it would wreck the Gaia economy completely. xp gaia_angelright It needs to be wrecked completely. It's vastly distorted as it is.

Exxos It needs to be wrecked completely. It's vastly distorted as it is. gaia_nitemareleft I agree, but the interest thing would take it to wrong direction, I think. What I would like to see is progressive taxation on the items in the MP (costly items have more tax etc.) and more well made gold shop items. gaia_angelright

Increasing them to draconian levels would piss people off and/or force people into trading the items entirely to circumvent the tax. Cost caps might work aside from that circumvention aforementioned. If an item is available in a store, you can't sell it for more than that in the marketplace. Cash shop items could not be sold for more than their gaia-appraised value in gold for the first 6 months, double that up to 1 year, and then released from the price capping after that. This should drive the cost of everything down and keep it there while still allowing items to rise in value for the truly patient people. Anyone trying to sell a gold shop item for 2,345,678,901 gold is banned from the site for being a schmuck too. rofl

Wild idea is that people could maybe apply for funding for their guilds, user made special events etc. *shrugs* The cost cap is good idea all though the danger in this is that people wouldn't sell the items until over a year later when the cost cap have been taken away. It would bring down prices but the quantity of items would also drop. Also, when launched, it would get as much whine and rebellion as the taxation system got. That would happen in anyways though, since there are always people who will always complain about every new feature. biggrin gaia_angelright

The people would get angry, but as always, they are a vocal minority. So the other 90% of gaia would be happy after they realize they can get their picolitrosso's urn for 60k. They could also make the prices reasonable and do away with RIG's. Just make the items tiered in gcash: 25, 50, 75, 99, 199, 249. Rarer items cost more, you get exactly what you want, and gaia ends up making more through sheer quantity on the items. I know a lot of us do not do RIG's not because of the price but because of the gamble. I would have gladly went to target and got a gaia card and dropped it on 6 garbolts if I knew I could just buy them, so right there, gaia would have made $15 instead of the $0 they got from me.

Hi all you Beeeautiful people! Well after a much needed hiatus at a weekend retreat...I am ready to get back to business! I fubared on the collecting of the bids for the auction on the first of the month. So please start getting your bids in! The deadline is March 15th. As well...if you were interested in purchasing lotto tickets for the auction draw...then please do so immediately; the draw begins the evening of the 15th. Thank you all for your interest in the auction! Oh, and there are still many free items up for grabs!

I think one reason that the Gaian "economy" might be so skewed is that it's based entirely on "wants" and not "needs". No one's buying food, or paying rent, or for medical treatment, or electrical bills. It's basically all clothes and toys. You don't need any gold to stay on the site, and whatever level of comfort your amount/income of gold provides is purely entertainment and not tied to survival in any way. So there's that.

That's a really good point. Unfortunately if they tried to add survival type charges at this point people would go ballistic. humble_gypsy_traveller Oh no...that's where you're wrong my dear...I'm sorry but I NEED to look swanky! rofl LOL!! Do you think if the computer screen is starting to look like it has two pages like a book that it's time to... go do something else?
