Sammirah So a longtime friend of mine's birthday is coming up and she's having people meet for hanging out and dinner in the city. I won't be able to get a ride because her and her boyfriend are going in the night before, and the only other person who would come from our little town is working and can't make it. There is a bus, but money's just too tight to afford it AND dinner (the only bus is a coach type thing and it's like $20 on the weekend). So, I told her I couldn't afford it, and now I feel bad that I said that because I didn't realise at the time that I had hit "reply all" on the message (on Facebook) so everyone she's invited saw that. I should have just sent her a private message but now everyone's seen it and I feel like a jerk. gonk Don't feel bad...I know tons of people who have done that before.

So I went to the doctor today to get some medical forms signed for a retreat I'm going to...and she was like "wow I hardly recognized you, you seem to put on weight" and so she weighed me...I SOOO wasn't prepared for how much weight I had actually put on. Okay the last time I saw her, I was 150lbs...and I'm 5'9....NOW I'm 234lbs!!!!!!! gonk I have NOOO f***ing idea how I gained that much!

Could be any number of things really. I'm sure you will be able to work off what you have gained though as long as you have the desire to do so. 3nodding

I'm trying to battle between feeling good about my self vs. doctors hinting me that I should loose weight. I'm slightly on the top scale of the normal weight range so of course everyone has the right to point that out even though I actually think I look good (most of the time at least). talk2hand gaia_angelright

Then strike some epic poses and announce defiantly whatever variation of "@#$% WINTER!" that I am sure there are probably 80 variations for in Finnish. biggrin

Then again...she reminded me that diabetes runs in my family...so I'm scared to gain any extra weight.

I have bit same problem as humble that the diabetes runs in my family so I need to keep an eye on my weight but my main goal is to stay healthy. Speaking of staying healthy, I'm going on a cruise tomorrow so I won't be around the whole weekend. whee gaia_angelright

Oooh, Lily, a cruise? Sounds like fun, take me!
In other news, my fiancé FINALLY told his dad about us and we got his blessing. So that's a big relief!

It's strange for me because I've always been a little on the thin side. I can blame it on getting older and having kids.. but I'm kind of a sugar addict. I need to cut it out more. Do you guys all want to do a dieting thread together? lol Sammirah Oooh, Lily, a cruise? Sounds like fun, take me! In other news, my fiancé FINALLY told his dad about us and we got his blessing. So that's a big relief! Is he very traditional? I'm happy for you both that he gave his blessing. It makes things so much easier when the family approves. Not always necessary but it really makes things nicer.

I was worried that he was going to cause problems but it looks like it's going to be alright. The rest of the family is on our side and were apparently all telling the dad that it's a good idea and will be good.

Camwen Do you guys all want to do a dieting thread together? lol You know what? That's not a bad idea. I'm not into dieting per se, but I would really love to lose my Christmas weight! I wouldn't mind tracking my weight and sharing tips and things with some of my AGA buddies.

Yeah, it's the "traditional" Finnish cruise meaning it's an 20 hour cruise to Estonia and back. These are also called as party cruises since the whole point is to party hard the whole time. xp This has now become a tradition with my work friends and every time we've had a blast, though the hangover is always terrible. sweatdrop I'll be leaving today and I'll come back tomorrow evening but if the cruise is like the two last times, I'll be heading straight to bed when I get home. biggrin gaia_angelright

Sounds really fun. Is it an open bar? Like, you can drink as much of whatever you want while you're there?

Like, you can drink as much of whatever you want while you're there? gaia_nitemareleft Nope, you have to buy everything but it's cheaper than on land since the alcohol is tax free. (There's about 40% tax on the alcohol in Finland) I think with Finnish drinking habits it would be firstly extremely expensive and also extremely dangerous to have a non stop open bar for 20 hours. xp gaia_angelright
