"According to our youngest...he's part of the Brotherhood. his axe spoke of being Rallosian, a worshipper of the God of War. not exactly a good thign for someone raised in Neriak. a dangerous undertaking. So my best guess, is that he's a strong, capable warrior, young enough for me not to know him, but old enough to know about us. So I'll wager he was a recruit at the time we were in Neriak."
A glance at his wife.
"I don't know everyone, you know."
A slight grin at her.
Valten raised his lance, and reared his horse...before charging down the field at breakneck speed...his aim started at Malikhai's own shielding, before a last second shift to attempt to bash his helm with the lance.

A kick sent Jerick streaking down the short line of dirt and fence between them, lance raised up to produce the kind of hit he wanted. Malikhai's mind was turning it's gears and he had gotten curious. Perhaps the curious was overriding the old fears, or who knew. But the gears were turning. His lance struck Valten in the shoulder as he had shifted himself upward by bracing his feet in his stirrups to avoid the last second shifting for a head shot, while tilting his lance down. Meant Valten hit him in the shoulder, and he hit Valten in the same place in return, equaling their points of first run.
"You may not know them directly, but you know well enough of how things work to make a good guess. So there. Don't sass me, you'll make me throw up because I'll be trying to do it back." Crossing her arms over her chest and tilting her head some. "Hopefully he doesn't turn into something we're not going to enjoy very much." And plopping her hand over her face lightly with a cringe. "I don't know why I watch you or him joust. I can't stand it."

Rubbing his wife's shoulder lightly.
"alright, judging from the company he keeps, I'd wager I know his name. but that's about all I'll know. there's only three members of the younger brotherhood that had the status or connections to meet with a enchanter like Cerrilia. Malthias, Valten, and Naythanox. of those three, I'll bet steel on it being Valten."
Valten gave a mental salute to the boy for avoiding it...and prepared for the second run, getting the new lance, and..and rearing up, before racing down again....aiming for mid chest. he knew he'd been healed of major injuries, but that didn't mean he wasn't still feeling the pain of thier previous encounter.

"See, you know more than you let on. Or can make some great guesses. I wouldn't ask if I thought you didn't know the answer. But I have good hunches on things and that's great."
It was a quick turn around pace, being given a new lance as he more or less turned to head back into a run. This was the good jousting, where whomever got the longer running distance usually got the stronger hit and thus no mercy and no waiting for formalities and flags. While Valten went for new areas, Khai stayed shoulder aimed yet was ready for a shoulder roll. It was an old trick after all.

Like any trained warrior, valten knew exactly where he was aiming for now. he'd tried for an early lead by going for the helm, he wouldn't try that again unless he was sure he'd hit it. this time it was mid chest a little higher then most but not noticably much. and it landed, hard. lance breaking on the breastplate with enough force to send a crack down the length of the lance, hoping that the hit knocked the wind out of the other with enough pain to boot.
He took his own hit hard in the shoulder and the force knocked him back but he held on...before righting himself and already reaching for the next lance.
A slight grin at his wife.
"you know, you know me too well sometimes I think."
before pressing a kiss to her lips and running a hand through her hair.

Of course like any joust, it was a three run session with point totaling. Malikhai was being careful to keep points a certain way between them. He took hits to give points and earned his own as well. Though he did cringe some at the last one. His body took more bashing than compared to Valten's limbs taking the brunt of his own pain.
A little slow on getting his lance and into his third and final fun, but a little extra encouragement to Jerick got him blazing down the dirt, literally, kicking of heated wind and embers before Valten was back into the dirt. Raising his lance he made aim for the other, aiming slightly low to catch him lower in the chest.
"No, I know you just enough. I'm the wife, it's my job. That's how I manage the PR and what not and keep you from making too much trouble for yourself."

Already on the move, and Valten took off against him. he was prepared for the heavy impact this time...Nightmares were indeed powerful mounts. and he respected the shadowknights of his home that tamed them.
So he had prepared for the impact, and planned to hit Malikhai in the same spot he had before..noting the cringe and looking to exploit it.
"But you know you enjoy the PR work. helps your horse buisness."

It was an odd plan that had formed in his head, but one that he thought he could work. It was simple really...if he couldn't prevent Valten from his endeavour well then he'd just have to give him more obstacles to go through. Winner of joust then became runner-up champion with the right to take a crack at the champion. As of now, there wasn't a precident for two undisputely tying up for that position and he was about to make one. Thusly he landed his own hit, and took the other as well...kicked the breath out of him that time and radiated pain to his back but he kept a straight face about it.
Which got a half frown half pout. "I can't even do that anymore. Do you have to remind me?"

"You can do it, you just choose not to. sure you can't do all the sales and talking and such. since your little enterprise has grown so large, but that doesn't mean you can't peruse from time to time or do books and such. of course after your present condition runs it's course."
Valten took the impact, and the judges and such got a look of consternation. this hadn't happened before either, and thus they were already in arguments about what to do with it. No one wanted to have them duel again, and they'd have to come up with something. even knowing who the champion was, no one wanted for force a triple threat match between all three.

"See, after. Which means I can't do much about any of that now or I'm sure Zahara will come after me, shortly followed by you and the boys. Sevilin is about the only one who shrugs anymore."
Spitting out some blood, for the second time that day, he gave Jerick a few affectionate pets before he got down from the saddle. So now he had pushed this tournament to a new level and he would see what they scrambled to do about it. Which was kind of fun and gave him a breather moment.

things were set in motion. first, calling Zahara over, since everyone knew she'd be furious if they dragged someone else to tend to malikhai. despite how someone else could probably do the job just as well. second, they sent for Malik, for his opinions on the matter at hand, and just to be on the safe side, they sent for Piper as well. her horses made up a great deal of the mounts and her opinion could be used to sway her husband if he wanted something they didn't.

Zahara did indeed want to tend to Malikhai herself although she brought an assistant to help her remove Malikhai's armor and keep him down when she needed to take care of something and he was being difficult.
Kaelin wasn't thrilled about being held back and watching all of it. She'd been covering her eyes in fear more than once after watching Malikhai take blows that should have shattered more than one bone in his body. She wasn't enjoying this very much at all and didn't quite understand the point of this particular sport. But she remained at the rail, watching it all and waiting to see who the victor was going to be.

He was trying to be good as Zahara wanted to check him over and waited to see what was going to happen in all of this. Though it seemed they were getting his parents involved as well as someone had wandered up to their box. Oh yes, this would be a very interesting end to this tournament indeed.
She shook her head as things got complicated and she turned a look to her husband. "Well...your son has a way of making things interesting."

"Yes, yes he does."
before going down to see what they wanted too...and discussing things among them. and after some heated discussions. they came to thier conclusions, not that they liked it much but it was the best option they had at the moment.
so they walked out on the center field.
"In this unusual circumstance, were both these fine gladitorial competitors have proven and equal match, adn with the reigning Champion's approval...we will have a triple threat match! all three competitiors will take to teh field and winner takes all via submission, or defeat."
defeat usually meaning beaten into unconsciousness.

Meanwhile, she tended to Malikhai getting him back in tip top shape for the battle that lay before him. Then she supported Piper while the decision was made. "Those bonds are going to go crazy."
She was not pleased at all about the final declaration and sank down rather heavily onto the bench behind her. A triple threat match? Were they crazy? If things went the way she was thinking they would, Valten would go down first. Neither father or son would allow the other one to be beaten into submission without interfering and distracting. And once Valten was out, Malikhai would either concede or fight.
