A Barrel full of Nitemares
The sun was high in the sky when Selene rounded up Emma and Whiskey for barrel practice. She fastened a smoothly oiled saddle to Emma along with the matching bridle. The leather was so pure, it looked amazing on the mare. A true champion at her best.

Next Selene moved onto Whiskey. The pinto mustang snorted, contently, as a vibrant leather saddle was fastened to him. His bridle looked truely amazing, with the silver gleaming in the light, and the bite feeling comfortable in his mouth. Unlike Emma, Whiskey wore a matching breast collar, which sat proudly on him.

Selene lead the two horses over to the corral. She tied Whiskey and mounted Emma. Three barrels and a time to make. Emma snorted lightly, ready to go as Whskey watched. With a sudden burst, Emma lept forward as if she was going to take flight. Within the blink of an eye Emma was at the first barrel. Selene tightened the reins and pulled hard to the right, pressing onto Emma's right side with her heel. Emma rounded perfectly.

Before there was any chance of recovering, emma was at the second barrle. Selene clipped Emma to the left this time, making the same movements, only to the left side. Dust flew up as Emma left the barrel, speeding for the last one.

Selene pulled left again and Emma hit the straight away. Selene called, beconing Emma onward. A heartbeat passed and they were done. The mare breathed hard as Selene patted her. She dis mounted and tied Emma so she could rest.As she did, Selene untied Whiskey and mounted. Whiskey grunted as the stood at the start point. His mind was now set on champion mode.

Whiskey lunged forward and galloped to the first barrel. Something was wrong! The dirt had been kicked up so bad from Emma, it was now slippery and soft. Whiskey tried to hold balance as he felt Selene grip the horn and tighten the slack on the reins, trying to help him keep balance. His legs buckled as they slide outward. Selene was thrown from the saddle as Whiskey slide across the ground.

Thud. Selene hit into the barrel with speed from being flung from the saddle. With such force, the barrel toppled over as Selene rolled to a stop. Whiskey scrapped himself up and trotted over to her, placing his muzzled against her cheek. SNAP! Emma ripped free from her tied reins and galloped in, whinning and nudging Selene.

Selene slowly opened her eyes and coughed. With the help of the two horses, she grabbed ahold of their bridles and they lifted their heads, helping her up. She coughed and patted Whiskey, "S'alright boy. Wasn't your fault, was mine. I should have packed the dirt in before another go. Lesson learned." she finished wearily.

About ten minutes later the horses were unsaddled and untacked. Selene had managed to sprain her wrist. She put on a wrist guard and patted Whiskey down to make sure he wasn't hurt. He wasn't. ,"I'm gonna go lay down for a while and rest. You both take it easy." she said to them. After disappearing inside, Emma nuzzled Whiskey and the two set off to graze and relax abit togeather.

Magic's Panic
>_<;
Sorry Spirit.

Magic had decided to go for a walk. Now that the kids were gone perhaps she could get back her slimming body she once had. The body her mate had loved. Now she could be mistaken for a cow. She snorted in distaste. Run. Thats what she needed to do. Run.

Dirt and peices of grass flew up from under the force of her hooves. Run. She lowered her head to keep more speed. She'd nearly forgotten how far she'd run. The mare snorted and pressed on. Maybe she could make some impressive time back to the herd.

Dirt flew up as fear rushed through the mare. Wide eyed, she stared at the beast that had just rose into the sky. Sick violet bat wings and a crimson coat. Its deadly venom eyed empaled her as it let out a bone chilling shreak, one that could be heard for miles on end.

Magic turned to run as her hoof slide into a goffer hole. Shwap! something had to have been broke or torn, but that didn't stop the mare. She limply galloped away from the fearsome creature, turning to escape. Slash! The mare, in all her panic had rolled down the hill and right into the powerful currents of the river.

The beast flapped high in the sky as Magic diappeared under the crashing water. Beneth, the mare floated, lifeless. Flashbacks of her children swept through her mind. The face of her love, and a voice called to her. Small bubbles floated to the surface as Magic reared her head from the watery depths. The beast was gone.

As the river carried her, she made her way to the bank, heaving herself up onto it. Magic lay quietly in the mudd. Battered and beaten by the river, she wobbled to her hooves and began her way home. The walk was long, and tiredless. She huffed, out of breath and energy. Water and mud drenched her, aswell as a blood soaked front limb.

Pain hit her the whole way. Soon the herd grounds came into view. It was still about ten minutes out, but Magic hardly noticed it. Soon she was apon it, limping quietly through.

Sun's bad hit
~Solo~

Sunchaser had gone out wandering for a bit, for once not in search of somebody. Sahara was fully grown and perfectly capable of watching the herd for a bit while she was out for a bit. Sun wasn't usually the wandering type, well unless you count her childhood days, but since she had grown she hadn't wandered alone. Her mind started to wander as well, wondering how Mirage was and when he was coming home. How Aqua and the rest of her children were doing. Being that her mind was in a different place, she hadn't noticed that she was getting considerably far from the grounds.

When her mind finally snapped back to reality, she stopped imediately when she noticed she had no idea where she was. Her best bet to get home would be to turn around and go the way she came but she had taken some turns here and there. Basically, she was lost. She turned and started walking back the way she had came, desperately hoping she would see some familiar landmarks that would lead her home.

A few minutes later she could hear twigs snapping, leaves crumpling and the sounds were getting closer. Someone's following me.. She picked up her pace and weaved her way through trees and branches but still she could hear the noises following her every move. Then there was a shadow out of the corner of her eye. Just a glimpse made her freeze with fright as it came towards her. One hit and she blacked out.

Dazed and confused the mare awoke to pain shooting through her entire body, especially her head. A small trickle of blood was slowly dripping down the side of her head as well as some smaller cuts on her body. She was weak and barey able to stand. All she could do was curl up and hope somebody would come looking for her. And hope that thing wouldn't come back.

Lightning's run for her life
=Solo

Lightning had awoke durring the sunset. She thought it was beautiful. So she began to walk, not wanting to wake the family. The air was so fresh, and crisp. Her mane whipped elegantly as she strolled. She was soon out of her herd grounds. She knew where she was going. She wanted to watch the sunset from under the apple tree in the meadows.

The tall grass tickled her under belly. With the wind blowing and the grass scratching in the wind, it was hard to hear anything. Lightning shrugged. She'd been to the meadow plenty of times! There was no threat. Or so she though.

The sun was beautiful along the edges of the tree. Lightning closed her eyes and took in the moment, munching on an apple. She bent down and ate another. The sun dipped behind the trees and Lightning perked her ears. She began to walk forward as she inhaled. What's that smell? Her heart began to race. Instantly she lept forward and began to gallop, but the smell got stronger.

Sweat beaded down her face as did tears. She was getting farther from the herd. She heard the beats of something. She didn't know if it was in the air or on the ground, but she could feel it. She turned to look. Horror struck the mare as she saw what it was. Blending with the setting sky. She turned back around, barly missing a tree.

Lightning turned back around. It was gone. She stopped, panting. Where did it go? She didn't want to find out. Just as she turned back around, twap! Crash! Lightning lay limp in the tall grass, blacked out. Whatever it was, it didn't stop there.Blood trickled from her head, side and leg, but Lightning still laid blacked out.

Aqua suffers
~LAST Solo~

Aqua had left Cheveyo on his watch post to go get them some treats. He had been pretty worried about what had happened to his mother that he wasn't taking any chances. She, however, wasn't going to let the whole thing get to her. It would only make her panic and probably become paranoid if someone or something was going to attack.

She spotted the best apple tree in the area and trotted over to start picking the ripest ones she could find. She reached up and grabbed one, dropping it on the ground but lifted her head imediately, thinking she heard something. "Get ahold of yourself. If anything it's going to be Cheveyo or Akio trying to sneak up on me." She wasn't going to let herself worry over nothing so she resumed her picking.

Soon after, she saw a shadow pass right over her. No doubt about it. It was there this time. She stepped back and looked around the field and up in the skies. Nothing. "I'm losing it", she whispered. A faint voice behind her said "Losing what?" She jumped and turned but only to be knocked to the ground with a loud THUD. She tried to stand but the creature had stepped right on her back ankle, causing it to pop, possibly fracturing it. Pain shot through her leg as she tried to kick back at it but it did no good. Luckily, she avoided any head shots and she didn't black out. But that meant she was awake and fully aware of every painful blow it threw at her.

Once it had finally decided to leave her in her pain and agony, she tried to stand and managed but not on her back leg. She started limping back home, falling every once in a while as tears streamed down her face from the pain. Cheveyo had been right. If only she had listened to him.

"Of course they'd lie if it ment getting a mare like you. But you're all mine, and I'm not going to share." he chuckled and nuzzled her.
"Not even if it's with my friends?" She looked at him with a curiously amused expression on her face.

"Horsenap me? Oh no!!" She giggled and pranced around him, taunting him some. "Oh how ever will I survive?" A small smirk played across her face. "I'm sure you could spare me some time with my friends. After all, they will be in the same herd." She came closer to him, only to n** him playfully and prance off towards the herd grounds, swishing her tail as a 'Come and get me' sign.

Shadrack grinned, "Maybe I'll share, maybe I won't" he said as her trotted after her. He smiled warmly, letting her escape him a few feet. She was having fun and that was all that mattered. He was happy enough as it was. He'd found and angel from heaven and he wasn't letting go of her. His beautiful mate.

Astral stopped at the bottom oof a trail that went up a steep and rather tall mountian side. "It won't be too much longer till we get there." she smiled warmly at him and waited for him to catch up to her before she started up the trail.

(( o.o Gah! I thought her name was Gypsy?!))

Shadrack followed, contently, after her. He enjoied just being with her. He looked off to the setting sun. Soon both of them wouldn't be visable anymore. He snorted. At least he'd have some extra time with her.

(( it is... Astral Gypsy))

Astral sighed softly at the setting sun. This ment that it would be more difficult to follow the path. This was especialy bad since on the downward path there was the mountian to one side and the cliff and canyon to the other, one bad step could mean their lives. Stopping, she looked to him and smiled. "Perhaps we should stop and continue in the morning since the path tends to get more dangerous on the otherside and it's getting dark."

Shadrack nodded, givingher his charming smile, "At least I'll have more time with you." he replied as he walked up to her and nuzzled her warmly.

She smiled warmly and nuzzled him back. "You sound asthough I'll disappear as soon as we make it to the herd."
