Noah the Storyfinder

Noah lifted his eyebrows slightly, unable to help but note that the woman neglected to offer her own name. He made no comment of it, only nodding to the gentleman seated beside him. "A pleasure, Isra," he said, giving the man the warmest smile he could manage while the cold still clung to his bones.

The pair seemed to be discussing personal business or politics--nothing Noah felt he could contribute to. He would hate to derail a conversation, and either way he only wished to observe. Then again, he could not learn if he did not ask questions. "The Elite?"

Anna Gale

A young woman violently burst into the room, her hands on the hilts of the black scimitars sheathed on her hips. Her stormy gray eyes searched the place for any immediate threats but found none. Clearly she had been sent to the wrong tavern, or whatever this place was. Relaxing her stance slightly, she walked over to the back corner where she could keep an eye out for anything suspicious.

Everyone here seemed like they didn't belong, which simultaneously disturbed and intrigued her. She hoped that nobody would judge her for her obsidian studded black leather jumpsuit that clung to her like a second skin and tangled mess of short, curly black hair.

Blood dripped off the end of Svana's tomahawk, dribbling a trail behind her. She poked her head into the little building, searching for additional survivors or any of her own people who needed to be warned that they were about to start burning. Instead of a crusty dwarf tavern, she stumbled into another place entirely. Intrigued, she stepped inside, looking around in amazement.

"This isn't right," she said out loud, swiping a fleck of blood off her face.

The people here were blithely ignorant of the bloodshed occurring outside. None appeared to be dwarves anyway. What had she stumbled into?

Peering around suspiciously, Svana let the door swing shut behind her, still clutching her bloodied tomahawk. The place was a...tavern? Cafe? There was a single other patron, a young woman, armed, apparently human. Svana looked down at herself, realizing how she must look, walking in with her weapon drawn and covered in blood. She quickly stowed the tomahawk with its blood-crusted twin on her belt.

"Get me something to drink," she commanded sharply to the staff member behind the counter.

Anna Gale ((Thanks for the heads up!))

Anna stared wide-eyed at the person who entered. She had no idea what race she was, but clearly she was not from the lands or waters Alysia. Never had she encountered another female warrior other than herself, and she was excited to make an acquaintance, despite the blood dripping from.. well everywhere. She quickly made her way over to the woman.

"Hello, and who might you be?" she asked.

((Yeah, no worries! I didn't want you to miss it.))

Svana reared back when a young woman trussed in leather boldly approached her, eyeing her as a potential threat as she greeted her enthusiastically. She quickly checked over both shoulders to make sure the curly-haired girl was, in fact, addressing her, and also to make sure she wasn't acting as a distraction while somebody else came up behind her.

"Me? I'm Svana. Who might you me?" she threw back at her curtly, eyeing her with a twinge of distrust. The girl was armed and not altogether concerned with Svana's appearance. "You know what this place is?" she asked, gesturing around. She highly doubted the girl was camping out in a rustic dwarf village in the middle of pissant nowhere.

Anna Gale

In an attempt to make Svana feel more at ease, Anna folded her arms and placed them on the counter and away from her weapons. Not like she needed them to inflict some serious damage.

"My name is Anna, I am from Fiera. I was hoping that you would be able to tell me where I am. I was expecting to walk into a rather notorious tavern called Dancing Dragons. Clearly Sascha was mistaken as to the location of it. Could you point me in the right direction, perhaps?" Anna inquired. She had a feeling that Svana would not know, but it never hurt to ask. She eyed the axe-thing at her side. Then again, maybe it would hurt to ask.

Chewing the inside of her cheek, she studied the girl, who seemed just as confused as she was. Both of them had entered a place expecting something different. Both of them had ended up here. She wracked her brain, trying to place Fiera, but she was so far removed from society she had no chance of knowing current geography.

"It's been a while since I was out in the world. I couldn't tell you where Fiera is, much less anything called Dancing Dragons. I just walked in from a massacre. I doubt you can say the same. Something is going on here. Something odd..." She shook her head. The person working the counter delivered her the drink she ordered so she took it, sniffed it, and then sipped. It was not what she was expecting. Making a face, she set it back down.

She did wonder, though. "You see many dwarves or elves before you walked in?" she wondered blandly, assuming the answer was no.

Anna Gale

Anna's stomach grumbled quite audibly. She looked around for the nearest server. "Bring me some food, please," she told the man standing a few feet away cleaning tables. He disappeared into a back room.

Dwarves? This woman must have been removed from society for a long time. The dwarven kingdom has had no contact with anyone outside their realm for nigh on six decades. Anna eyed Svana quizzically.

"Erm... No. No one has even seen a dwarf in half a century, and there is no way elves could be running about. They live in Auranill, the city beneath the sea. It takes them quite some effort to come up to land, they need to wear these silly devices to help them breath above water. I would have to agree with you on the oddity of this place. Never have I seen men and women working side by side as equals. . ." pondered Anna. Her eyes were wide as she watched a man clean glasses as if he were a bar wench.

Just as she supposed. There was definitely something fishy going on here. "That's a disappointing notion, that elves are essentially exiled where you are too. Would you even know an elf, if you saw one?" she posed with mild humor. The idea that elves might live under water and need breathing devices was an odd rumor, but she had been so removed that rumors were probably wildly out of control, although she wasn't sure what to make about her opinion on dwarves.

"Half a century isn't all that long, but given the war I was told that was just fought between them and the humans and orcs I would think they would be more visible to all. I'm inclined to believe we did not walk through the same doorway, as I just came from a little dwarf village myself." Svana couldn't explain how such a thing was possible, but sometimes it was best not to question these things.

She tried her drink again with a wrinkled nose.

Jet Devereux

It certainly wasn't what she had been expecting, but that made it all the more alluring to Jet. A doorway in the courtyard? It was absurd, and she knew that she should be cautious; as a child she had devoured stories of trolls and fairies that would whisk off unsuspecting young aristocrats and take them to magical lands. But this was real life, and magical doorways didn't just appear out of nowhere - did they?

The door was carved ornately with a symbol in the centre that she couldn't identify. She tiptoed towards it, her dress catching on an upward root so that she stumbled. She gasped, cursing loudly and then looking around awkwardly to make sure nobody had heard her.

Seeing that they hadn't, she took the plunge and opened the door. She was greeted by the aroma of coffee - something she hadn't had the pleasure of consuming in almost a year - and fresh bread. She smiled, her pallid face lighting up. She stepped inside, brushing at her dress self-consciously. There were only two other patrons at the moment, and both of them caused her to second-guess whether this was wise.

Still, she was here now. She brushed back her long black hair and tried to calm her fringe, which fell relentlessly into her eyes. Then she marched right up to the other people. Social situations had never been her strength.

"How long has this place been here?" she demanded, her voice louder than she intended. She shrank back a little and tried to smile.

((Yay first post of the summer! I am so excited for this. Still getting a handle on Jet. Excuse me while I freak out a little bit.))

Svana turned as another patron entered. Another human? How interesting. She cocked her head and studied the pale young woman who walked through. She most definitely didn't come from the slaughter just outside the doors.

"That depends. I'm not even sure what this place is," she replied curtly.

Deciding that this place posed little threat and that she was likely going to be staying for a few minutes, she stripped off her gauntlets, tugging out the laces and pitching the bloody pieces of armor onto a nearby table. She smeared a bit of blood spatter from her nose, frowning in distaste, and then removed her tomahawks to begin cleaning off the blades so that the gummy blood did not dry them, using her own pant leg for the task.

Jet Devereux

Jet did not want to flinch at the sight of blood - and was surprised when she was not at all disgusted by it. It was only like the blood she had seen come from her own body, so why must she turn her nose up at it? She stepped closer to investigate the gauntlets, which were like nothing she had ever seen before. She thought back to her story books, but they had never held enough detail for her liking anyway. This was much better.

"Huh, well, I suppose it's in several places right now," Jet decided. "It's not like we're all from the same city. Actually, I don't think we're even from the same - well... place. At all." She shrugged. "Cool gear you have there. What did that sort of thing cost you?"

Jet was well aware that she was being rude. Probably. She couldn't contain herself, though. She had too many questions, and the woman - person - creature standing before her was too intriguing.

Anna Gale

Anna jumped, startled slightly by the conviction with which this newcomer spoke. Another female, how strange, she thought. A male server brought her a large bowl of soup with a half loaf of bread. The only thing normal to Anna about this situation was the food.

Eyeing the girl's dress distastefully, Anna chose not to respond to her and instead focused on stuffing her face with delicious food.

Svana eyed the young woman. She didn't appear confused by the situation, so she accepted her explanation. It was in several places. What 'it' was remained to be seen, but as long as it didn't pose a threat and as long as she could get back to where she came from, she supposed it didn't matter. The girl seemed more interested in her gauntlets than the odd building they occupied.

"Cost me? A bit of exertion and a few pints of blood of the man I picked them off of. Got it off an orc, but the gods know it wasn't made by then. Human, I imagine. Their craftsmanship has improved quite a lot these last few centuries," she mused gruffly, pulling off her chest plate. It was of lesser quality. She was hoping to find one better as they went along.

"Where are you from, then? Not where I'm from, obviously."

The other girl, Anna, seemed detached from the conversation, more focused on eating. Svana stood a pace back, making sure she could keep an eye on both of them and the serving staff, just in case.
