"I hope the long drive wasn't a bother Miss Vlad,"

It had been a long drive, Jhovanna was feeling somewhat impatient. But she kept it hidden as she sat across from Manning at the BPRD, coat tucked over her lap, bags already set away. She narrowed her gaze at the balding man, still irritated from his formerly rude behavior.

"Mr. Manning," Jo started, "Perhaps we should be discussing more pressing matters rather than small talk. What position were you going to refer me to?"

"Ah yes," he pulled out a file, "We noted your abroad experience and were hoping to have you down as a field agent if it suits you."

"I have no further problems with that sort of arrangement," she nodded, looking over the contents of the file, "However I must refuse on jobs in one town alone."

"Which one?"

"The former captial of Wallachia, my ancestor's home."

"You don't mean-"

"Yes. On all grounds I simply refuse to step foot in my ancestor's castle, no matter what kind of pay or bonus you offer."

"...."

"Do we have an accord?"

Manning frowned at the icy tone of Jhovanna. "What do you have to fear from your own ancestor...a vampire?"

"He was naught but a man," she cut in coldly, "A man who merely gained a fierce reputation for himself. Do you agree?"

Manning sighed, taking back his file and jotting something down. "I don't suppose I have much of choice now do I Miss Vlad?" They shook hands on it.

"It's a deal."

Izzy looked around the forest reigon, he felt uneasy at his surroundings..the sounds kept repeating his name.

Bruno stood quietly observing the facility, he seemed a little confused, being from so many countries he had not seen one this advanced with technology.

Picking up her bags outside, Jhovanna smiled gently at Bruno who was standing by a wall. "Thank you once more for driving me here." she said politely, "I'm sorry if I was a bother."

"It was no problem at all Miss. Vlad was it?" Despite the name he could feel her troubles wafting in the air. His breathing became a little more heavy at the feel of her spiritual pressure. He could tell that she was more than human.

"Please, call me Jo." she insisted. "I feel so old being called Ms.Vlad, in any case I haven't seen any of my relations in years."

She felt the blade of her rapier twitch. She hadn't been exorcising since she left...the spiritual energy was building up to the point where if she twitched her finger the wrong way she might accidentally break something.

Bruno nodded "Ok.." his eyes got serious for a moment "your energy...its strong now is it not?"

"Unfortunately," Jhovanna nodded, walking along the corridors of the facility to her new room, "The spiritual energy is something that builds up over time. I require near daily exercise with it, mostly through exorcisms. Fortunately, Quebec has had a great share of tragic, sudden, or angry deaths that leave violent spirits. My work there was fairly simple, it takes many years for spirits like that to gain any real dangerous power and it's mostly like weeding a garden of young weeds. But that was my payment," she shrugged. She didn't mind it so much anymore, it was in her youth that it'd been annoying.

"I've long since accepted my role in the world as an exorcist, poltergist and vampire alike."

Bruno nodded " I see..." he paused for a moment "As for me I must learn to steer clear from angry spirits of many sorts especially those of demonic stature...my abilities keep me in sync with the spirit world...the only problem is that I may gain alot of power but.....it makes me vulnerable to being possessed." he went on "I'm honored to meet someone such as yourself."

Jhovanna flushed, she hadn't had much experience with gentlemen. "I'm naught but a public servant," she looked away hurriedly. Bruno had an extremely handsome Grecian profile, and it was exceedingly difficult to look away from it. "My only dream is that I may squash out all forms of wickedness that I encounter. I've been growing up fighting poltergists and vampires since I was very young, it's my family's way of seeing how useful I may be in the future as an exorcist."

The words hid some rather harsh messages. Jo knew it very well, and had even accepted it; her family had born and bred her for exorcisms and exorcisms only. For what other reasons would she have for fleeing Translyvania?

Bruno sighed "It doesnt matter if your a servant to the world...what you do is a big deal! I just wish I met you back when my dear Mariah fell ill to possession...you could have saved her."
He got a little quiet and looked to the floor "I'll never forget the beautiful smile she gave me after the birth of our son."
He shooked his head and sighed once more.

Jhovanna bowed her head. "My sincerest condolences," she said solemnly, "Its always a disappointment to know that there are some people in the world I don't get the chance to save."

Attempting to turn around the subject, she looked back at Bruno, "And your son? What's he like?"
PostPosted: Tue Feb 09, 2010 2:23 pm

Bruno smiled "My son...such a great boy..he should be about 17 now. A very gifted child....he lives with somone I trust named Penny. Her and her husband have been training gifted children with supernatural talents for over 50 years. If I'm not mistaken...one of the children I know have vanished since last time I visited...It's a shame because I liked that kid like he was one of my own." he stopped himself "I'm talking too much."

"Excuse me," Jhovanna apologized quickly, "I'm being nosy."

They'd arrived in front of her room, but Jo hadn't had many friends to talk to. She was homesick...not for Translyvania where she'd been raised as a tool, but for Canada, a place too cold for all the good, clever citizens that lived there, a giant country of beauty, from the full streets of Quebec with the scent of coffee lingering in the morning, to the ice capped fields and mountains with sprigs of edelwiess growing in the summer. She simply put her bags away and continued walking with Bruno down the corridor. She felt somewhat guilty, she shouldn't be enjoying the company of a widowed father so much.

"I have quite a few siblings back home," she said, trying to lead the conversation away from Bruno's misery, "I had six, two sisters and four brothers excluding me, but I don't know how many are there now. Some may have died already, or my parents may have had some more. They feel it was vital to have as many children as possible. I'm the eldest though, so a lot of responsiblity fell unto me when I was growing up with so many babies in the house."

"It must've been hard for you to juggle responsabilities like that." he said as he walked with her.

"Taking care of the children was actually a welcome distraction from exorcisms," Jo admitted, "It gave me a taste of what life outside my world was like."

She then frowned, "But when I left they were at that age where my parents were trying to draw out their exorcising abilities. I had a dangerous, but lucky, run in with a demon...that's why mine came out earlier than expected. By the time my siblings are my age, they'll only have begun using their exorcising abilities."
