it was a best of three, or forfeit setup...and most forfeit if they lost the first round, particularly the enchanters. which annoyed the hell out of Cerrilia who of course was watching. she's have to be more strict on certain things to make sure her student's took to it and were able to apply it. the boy, clearly upset that his golem masterpeice got eaten, resolved to teach the gnome a lesson. and the magma started to form, as he was trying the same type of summoning the gnome had used, through his was forming into a golem, the shape he knew best.
Wist for his part was ignoring him, still doing calculations about why the dragon type had tried to eat him and figure out where in the summoning it had gotten the idea from.
Malik nodded, and picked his wife up bridal style, and carried her out of the building to the stands, before setting her down in her place near the intharas and taking a seat himself. he kept his hand with hers though, so all she'd have to do if she didn't feel good was squeeze and he could take her back to their room if need be.

"None taken. Mom won't let me compete. She thinks I'm too young or something." Rolling his eyes and refusing to tell the real reason why he wasn't allowed to compete this year. "I want to see you anyway. This other stuff is boring." Turning his gaze down to his brother. "You just don't see them. They still happen."
"I don't know why you want to do physical labor anyway." Shaking her head and then flushing as she realized she was in fact singing her father's praises. Well, she was a daddy's girl and her father was the best. Everyone knew it. She scribed a quick rune over his shoulder and then stepped back. "I...yeah...I guess. I'm not stuck up," she said quietly.
"You would know." It was something he'd been taught when he was younger even if he had really taken to the sword and illusions. "It looks like they aren't done yet but that other one really wants to win, I think." Watching once more as things got underway. "What's next after summoning?"
"Did I? They did her in the afternoon last time..." Shaking his head and glancing down at his brothers with a grin. "I remember those days. Banned from competing and banned from playing with the other kids, too." He watched his mother appear on the field, directing someone somewhere and laughed. "They're too afraid of what you'd do to them. Not about to fight with the powerful Sevilin Inthara."

And anyone who was going to give an odd look her way was going to be punched in the face or something close to that. But for now, she was content to sit where they always did with the others and try to concentrate on what was going on in the arena. She was going to get through this, damn it.
"Mom's are like that. I probably wouldn't be if mom wasn't sick and cared more about the dangers of the world or whatever moms call it these days." Drumming his fingers on the wall before him in his ever fidgety fashion. "See me win or see me do something stupid?"
Blinking at his brother, he merely shook his head and then climbed up a row of seats to plop on his brother's knee where he sat. After all, seeing Zykariel was ever an event, and as far as he was concerned Kel wasn't being fun or nice right now. Cranky.
"It's fulfilling? I like to make things and help make things and make things better and work and what not. Besides, it wasn't my fault this time, I just got the short end of the stick." Giving her a smile as she made an effort to dull the throbbing in his shoulder. Confused blink thoguh, "I didn't say you were stuck up. You just have the proper skills to win."
"I probably know more than I should, look at it that way." After all, when you were killing bandits at the tender age of fifteen, you knew too much. "They're going to have sets. Whoever has the most wins in a set, gets to move on." Shaking his head as Wist just wouldn't concentrate on the arena. "He should have practiced more rather than be plainly enamoured with the opportunity." Turning a look to Kaelin then, "I believe it's archery next."
"Malik added some things this year and changed the order of events as well." Nodding some with a smile, "All you boys want to learn the hard way it seems." Raising an eyebrow at his oldest son's comment though, "Mocking so soon? Come now, you're supposed to start with snarky comments."

"Too much for our tender years is the phrase I seem to be hearing the most of. Can you tell me anything about her? My mom and dad keep talking in hushed voices whenever someone brings her up..." Shaking his head with a laugh and lightly punching his friend in the shoulder. "See you win, of course. You're a D'vinn. It's like required."
Zykariel was more than pleased to see the youngest member of the Inthara clan and he hugged the boy tightly, mussing his hair. "Enjoying yourself, squirt?" Back to his father with a chuckle. "I'm changing the order to keep you on your toes. If you aren't enjoying it, just say so."
"I know you do, but that's not always a bad thing either." She watched the field closely and tried to figure out just what Wist was doing. "He doesn't seem to be too interested in actually winning, does he?" Archery meant more people to watch but she thought she'd heard that Malikhai's brother was going to be competing. "And then swordsmanship?"
"You always did like getting dirty." Toeing the ground a moment, she chewed on her lower lip. "I'm sorry, I just get defensive when other elves mention my skill. Sometimes it seems like they're mocking me or not being very nice about it and it kind of hits a nerve."

the boy was trying, but you could see it rapidly getting out of control. wist may seem scatterbrained, but he was a very potent conjuror, and he had a great deal of power and expertise...but he noticed that the magma was forming into something that was more resembling a whirlwind then a golem, and the boy barely even able to keep it formed so it didn't splash down on top of him.
Wist looked over the situation, and sent over his dragon, that promptly absorbed the whirling magma tornado of death...before he dismissed it entirely. the boy gave up, but not before the gnome jumped up and grabbed his ear and started dragging him off probably going through a lecture at a mile a minute.

"Required hm? Good thing I'm the 'flighy weird one'." He looked hesitant for a moment before motioning his friend closer and got right up in his ear as he usually did. "They don't want anyone other than the family and Intharas to know, but my mom is pregnant. That's why she gets sick so often. Everyone's worried..." Which meant his mood almost just instantly fell at that moment. He didn't like the possibl severity of the situation at all.
"Kinda." He smiled at his brother and promptly just leaned against him, watching tournament go on. Even if he didn't get half of it all.
"I enjoy a bit of change these days. Just not too much or you'll make me want to clean things." He'd learned to poke at himself some over the years, it was probably good for him. Though it was probably an amusing sight to anyone watching them seeing as they looked so much alike sitting next to each other.
"And that would be the lecture drag off...I had one of those once." Didn't enjoy it, seeing as you just didn't grab elven ears. It was mean." Though as always, what did he expect but victory from anyone from his House's standings and what not. Sometimes it made things boring. "I think so. They'll save jousting and champion rounds for the next few days. Unless dad is going to try and cram it all together for mom's benefit." He still thought his mother should have stayed home...
"Being dirty usually means I've had fun." Chucking her under the chin with his good hand before another laugh. "You're good at what you do, no sense in being ashamed of that."

Wist came back out for his final...which turned out to be Cerrilia, having bribed the other person to let her take thier place...though she had no charmed beast or animal with her.
Wist looked at her, and shrugged, before summoning a golem that resembled the old elf Nelphean's Monolith creation in golden tone. Cerrilia smriked, and a flash of magical energy flowed between her and the golem...before a duplicate of it stood on her side of the field. not this is how an enchanter battled a summoner.

Kelligrin was rather surprised to hear that and he frowned, well aware of the implications that state carried with it. He watched his friends eyes literally fill with worry and threw an arm around his shoulders. "My mom knows how to handle that kind of thing. She'll be okay."
He smirked and mussed his little brother's hair, content to let him lounge about on him and watched the going-ons down below. "Not the cleaning. Last I heard every time you started to clean Mom was jumping you. And that's not something I want to see and I'm pretty sure tournament wouldn't appreciate it either." His gaze slid over the field and he chuckled, "Ah, the cockiness of youth."
So had she but it usually involved a much less pleasant ending. Her parents didn't take stupid mistakes or failure very well at all. "Good. I want to see you compete." She reached over and lightly patted his knee. "She's going to be okay, Khai. I hope....because I can't promise."
She made a face at the chin chucking and then laughed in spite of herself. "Old school mentality coming back to bite me."
"Korian!" Another elf raced over and threw her arms around his neck, smacking her lips against his. "I heard about your accident and I was absolutely shocked. But you seem to be doing alright. Still nice and strong." Squeezing his bicep playfully before standing back with a grin to her sister. "Hey Faate."
Faate stiffened reflexively at the sight of a too-short skirt and flirtatious smile. "Lyssthyren."

He gave a little smile as his best friend tried to cheer him up some with reassurance. "Yeah, I guess. But don't say anything about it okay? They don't want it being all public knowledge right now and what not."
"I think she was trying to distract me from doing it...I still don't know what that whole phase was about." Besides, he had all the time in the world to clean when he was home alone these days. "Cockiness of youth? You're still that cocky."
"I"ll do my best to impress you then." What was she doing out there? Well, he shouldn't be surprised but he decided to not pay too much mind to such a thing. Better for all. Thus he let his attention drift back to Kaelin as she picked up some on what he was thinking. "I hope so too."
He blinked in bewildered fashion as he was more or less affectionately attacked by the younger Inthara girl. "Uh, hi Lys." Recovering his composure some with a nod, "Shocked? Oh come now." Grinning back at her in same playful manner as she teased at him. "I manage." Sideglancing Faate then, whoa tone change.

"Mum's the word. Got it." Giving his best friend a grin and then turning to watch what was suddenly becoming very interesting.
"Distraction. That and Mom was..." He glanced down at the little elf on his lap and thought better of using that particular word. "Looking to...play." Damn little elves and their big ears and even bigger mouths. Both his parents would kill him if he gave Kit a sex education he didn't need, though. Smirking, he nodded. "I'm still that young, too." His eyes suddenly hit the field and he frowned at the sight of his old lover battling his old tutor. "What's she doing on the field now?"
She gave him a tentative smile and turned back to gaze at the field, her arm tightening around his as she realized who was on the field. Kaelin didn't like her. Not because of her personally but because of her history with Zykariel and Malikhai.
Lyssie's smile never faltered even if her sister didn't seem thrilled to see her. "Well, maybe not shocked but I certainly was worried. You're not supposed to be messing yourself up. You're too cute for permanent damage."
Standing there rather awkwardly, Faate searched for something to say. "He has to do his job. Everyone does no matter how dangerous it is. And if he gets hurt, well, that's just part of it." She knew she sounded either apathetic or completely snotty but didn't know how else to communicate. She got so tongue-tied and foolish when her sister was around.
Lyssie blinked at her sister's words and then shook her head. "I know that. But he doesn't have to go and pick the most dangerous job of all. Anyway, I'm glad to see you're alright, Korian. You should let me look at it later. Maybe I can give you something to help you feel better." Giving him a wink that promised more than a simple remedy.
Faate snorted. "And probably poison him in the process."

Malik gave a raised brow at what was going on in the center, which was a spectacle of itself. two giant golden golems fighting it out, while smaller swarms of watery pets battled tiny golems and the two master mages slinging spells back and forth at eachother. flares of light and bursts of flame and ice, cracking earth and mental attacks and counters.
"Interesting."
Valten as well was watching, though less amused. she wasn't supposed to be in these competitions and how much of the little money they had did she spend to get into it. Now it looked like he'd need to win to be able to eat as much as to prove himself to himself.

"Showing off probably." He didn't particularly care if she was on the field or not, or what she was doing there. She was merely more tournament fodder as far as he was concerned. "I don't really care for summoning competitions though so I'm bias."
Were they kinda fighting or something? Weird. "I would hardly call it most dangerous one. It's was tying a rope, the rope just broke is all. Anything can break." Shrugging once more and mentaly reprimanding himself for it. "Since when did you like healing, Lys." Clearly Faate doubted her as well.
"How is that interesting?"

"You're biased on everything with the exception of the runing type competitions and if one of your own children is competing, you're biased there, too." Not that it bothered him in the least. He just didn't like seeing his past come back to haunt him. "She's playing around. At this rate, the competition is going to take forever."
Lyssie reared back as though she'd been slapped and glared at her sister. "I wouldn't poison him! At least I'm willing to help him out. You're the one who stands there as pretty as you please spouting off about what he should and shouldn't do. Have a heart, Faatallon."
And now she was being yelled at and that certainly didn't make her happy. "Well, if my company is so distasteful to the both of you, I'll take myself off. Enjoy the tournament." Turning on her heel and stalking off.
"By the gods she drives me crazy sometimes." But her sour expression left with her sister and she turned back to Mykorian with a grin. "Want to come watch the tournament with me? I promise I won't ask all sorts of silly questions."

"Because she's pulling out all the stops. like she's got something to prove...but isn't that the newest illusion teacher in malikhai and dhairiss' school?"
though he leaned back some, watching...before officals, fearing for the safety of the crowd as a few flares had gotten dangerously close, demanded the contest be called a draw. both Wist and Cerrilia were given trophies, and the steel prize was split between them. Wist came back to malikhai's side, muttering about damned tier'dal....though there was a twinkle to his gnomish eyes.
Next the archery contests were set up, the targets placed and made ready.

"Pretty much." Grinning at his son and giving him a 'what are you going to do though' shrug about the affair. "Seems not forever...that's what happens when you play too hard. Do your best, not pull out all your stops." Hm, hopefully she wasn't going to cause a fuss over that. "Have you seen your little sister?"
He blinked again, okay that was fighting, "Faate, wait a mo-" Cut off as Lyssie more or less demanded his attention. "Lyssie that wasn't nice, you shouldn't say things like that. Especially to your sister." And Faate had put words in his mouth too, he hated it when she did that.
"My turn!" He announced quite happily when they announced that it was archery and took to setting up the field for that. Of course at his own nagging of his father, he'd gotten a change in that too. The normal archery rounds and the the arcane archery afterwards. He planned on doing both. "Later Kel." Hopping up he made his way down to where his brother was, seeing as he had his equipment. "Give."
"What no please?" Having his brother's things brought and handing the boy his bow and quiver, making sure the kid didn't have anything loose to catch on something or other. "Hey, don't show off too bad now okay?"
"I just hope I have some compeition. After all, mom is a hard one to live up to what with the history here." Presenting a cheek to Kaelin. "Kiss for luck?"
"Yes, she is. Isn't that the way most Tier'dal fight thought? As if they have something to prove, if not to impress or inspire a certain fear in others?" Seemed though they weren't going to let this kind of thing continue if it started endangering the crowds and she couldn't help the chuckle when Dhairiss got all excited. "I remember that feeling."
