She was actually going to be allowed to stay with him? Well, alright! Giving a wave to Dhairiss, she looped her arm through Malikhai's and began walking with him back to the tent. "I promise I won't run onto the field unless I'm certain that you're really seriously hurt."
"Good thinking." Because if he didn't find a better one, which the vendor had assured him he wouldn't, he was coming back for that blade. It looked like a decent one though not nearly as cool as the one Dhairiss had managed to get ahold of. "Dhairiss! We're looking at blades. And I think I found one that is almost as good as yours."

Now lighter one brother he plopped an arm around her shoulders desipte his armor, giving her a chuckle. "I would feel better if you stayed off the field despite what condition I may be some. Appearances are only half a battle after all and I wouldn't want you getting hurt." Tilting his head some, "Besides, I don't think Zahara would let you."
"I'm full of good ideas on most days." But for the most part he kept tabs on the boys as he let them wander vendor to vendor, checking out what they wanted and browsing some himself. After all, usually when he saw something he liked, he'd buy it. Be it for himself or someone else.
He pouted. "I don't have that anymore. My dad took it away and well, I don't think we're ever going to see it again. Though you know, I really just wanted to show you anyway. I'm not as big on knives, I'm kinda clumsy. Throwing knives I'm getting better at though."
"What's so neat about knives? I don't get it." He looked genuinely confused at the other boys and their fascination.

Valten was in the practice area, sparring with some of the various trainers assistants that had of course been brought to train thier own competitors. So far, the results were astoundingly in Valten's favor. he had no magic, to special skills but his ability to absorb punishment was rapidly being noticed. he was out of his armor, and his deep saphirre blue body was thick and built like a tank, though he was apparently still agile.short spiked white hair, and a cool, calculating gaze.
hand to hand combat, and he was throwing these sparring partners around.bending them in all sorts of manners to force their submissions...and when they did manage to go offensively and land blows and kicksor the like, he just seemed to take the hits without much more then grunts or the occasionally hiss sound.
Many competitors were already speculating what he was going to be like to compete against when he was in full armor and wielding a weapons. some speculated thier odds would go up...he wouldn't be so flexible. others were thinking thier odds would get worse...he'd be even harder to hurt.
but many were thinking of course they'd be the one to bring him down a peg or two.
Malik gave a slight grin to his wife.
"My loyalty lies with you as it always has and always will."
before pulling out a linkstone, messaging his youngest.
"Dhairiss...want to try something interesting? your mother has been having a craving for caramel covered fish. care to taste test it for us just in case it's actually not as bad as it sounds?"

She shifted beneath his arm slightly so the plating wasn't gouging her shoulder and shrugged. "I can't make any promises at that point, Malikhai. I can try not to, though. Lady D'vinn wouldn't be able to stop me if I really wanted to get out to you."
"Hey Kit, you know how excited you get when mom makes cookies? When you're upstairs, you can smell them cooking and you know that in a little bit of time you'll get to have one with a nice, tall glass of milk?" Waiting for the child's nod. Zykariel had them all beat when it came to his obsession with their mother's cookies but Kithaan was still in the craving stage. "That's the way I feel about knives. They're like cookies to me." Giving a grin to his best friend. "You'll never be as good as me."

"Sure, I'll believe that." Crossing her arms and shaking her head though as he went about amusing himself again. "How about you be more useful than that and get me a knife, an apple, and some sour cream, oh loving husband?"
"Everyone gets excited when mama makes cookies." But he nodded to his brother all the same, waiting to see if he was going to expand on this notion. Trying then to connect how Kel viewed knives like cookies. "But you can't eat a knife." Half the joy of a cookie was the taste. "Knives just hurt things." Or so his understanding for the moment.
"Probably not, but I'm still getting really good. I'd be better if you practiced with me more." Fishing his link stone out of his pocket and blinking at the odd question from his father. "You may have to bribe me a little for that one dad..."
"My mother isn't in the postition to be doing anything right now, no matter my health on the matter." Because as he well knew, and didn't like at all, her health was indeed more fragile right now than his would ever be. Thinking about it made him frown briefly. "I just mention it because it's not uncommon to fein weakness and the like." Though his ears were indeed tuning into the whispers around him of things. Oh yes, a wonderful challenge indeed.

Malik got himself up, and went to fetch her apple, knife and sour cream. though keeping the conversation with his son. yes and being amusing for himself.
"Alright, you do that one, give us a taste test and a idea of if it's really as bad as it sounds, and I'll let you take your pick of an elemental bow."
bringing back the apple, knife and sour cream to his wife, and settlign in the chair by her.
"Oh, and while your out there...any truth to the rumor of another Tier'dal competitor?"

"Deal." Oh yes of course he'd do that for a bow. Besides, it might actually taste good. And if it didn't well then it would only be a moment of bad taste that he could wash out of his mouth with something good. But he gave a nod, even if his father couldn't see it. "Yup, we already ran into him. Him and Khai talked, and then he headed off. Whole place is buzzing with talk about him already."
Taking the things from her husband she duly got herself comfortable on the bed and took to slicing up the apple and dipping the slices in the sour cream. Okay so that was weird for her too, but at least it didn't taste too odd.

"No, but it makes me as happy as a cookie would." Looking to his father for help on this one and then an idea popped into his head. "I like knives the way Daddy and Faate like runes. And Mama likes mixing stuff." Giving a laugh to his friend. "I'd be better with a bow if you'd let me use yours more often. Fair's fair my friend."
"No, I suppose not. But Lady Inthara might try to stop me, too." She gently patted his arm to remove that frown from his face since it wasn't a good thing to have him thinking about. "Don't worry. I'll only go rushing out onto the field if you're an inch from death. And I can always tell with you." Giving him a grin. "I suppose it's time for this whole thing to start, hm?"

He continued to stare at his brother, blinking for a few moments before he tilted his head, gave a blink and merely said, "Oh." And seemingly left it at that, taking to letting his eyes wander. "I wonder if they sell cookies here..." Now that his mind was on them.
Sevilin couldn't help the light chuckle at the happening but shrugged to one son and ruffled the other's hair. "No worries, they do. Not as good as your mother's, but they have them."
"I suppose I'll give you that. Then again you don't really care for bows...though you know, you should try a short ranger bow. Or a miniture cross bow, or just a regular crossbow. You may find those more fun since you like to sneak up on people and what not."
"You can tell can you? well then I'll have to work on not looking an inch from death then if everyone can read me and what not." Nodding lightly, "should be opening ceremonies any time now."

Indeed. the tournament horns went off amrking the beginging the the annual event. this year the opening contests would be the archery and magical contests, and they'd save the martial ones for last. of course it was all a marketing ploy. the martial contests were the ones everyone loved, and makign them last meant more people bought douvenirs and such from vendors.
"You know, sour cream and apple is almost as bad as caramel and fish."
malik grinned lightly, prodding his wife a bit before hearing the horns.
"Looks like thngs are getting started."

Frowning at him, she flung the knife at him though harmlessly so that it sunk into the wood of the wall over his shoulder. "Shut your mouth. I'm on the very of having a mood swing and you would be the target. Let me eat my nasty craving combinations that I can actually stand." Before hucking her apple at him then. "And I've just lost my appetite. That's your fault too." Shaking her head,"Finally...this year, I can't wait for it to be over. Mostly because of a combination of things."

A slight chuckle at the knife and then catching the apple, and biting into it.
"I'm sorry for that...and what other reasons, besides the obvious, are you wanting this to be over quickly?"

"Malikhai is not going to be happy later. Win or lose. I'll probably be playing mommy. As much as I love to play mommy, right now it-...I'm going to throw up..." Getting herself up and pulling her bandana back in her hair with another tug to tighten it, more or less pulling her hair into a quick pony tail before hitting the bathroom and promptly, losing said apple and sour cream along with half of breakfast and the snacks inbetween.

"I think he'll be fine, either way."
before she had to run to the bathroom, and he followed behind her, holding her hair back and putting her bandana aside and letting her loose lunch and snacks.
"Maybe she doesn't like the sour cream."
trying to make her feel a little better.
Opening ceremonies for the arcane competitions, introducing the various participants, and of course the present champions in each divison of magical talents. this year, at the begging and pleading of Wist the gnome, they added summoners competition, where those that used elementals could test thier pets against each other.

"Not funny." Out of all the things she hated about this whole thing, this had to be the worst. Not that she wasn't used to it, her boys had done the same thing to her...this time getting sick seemed to be so much easier to trigger. If she got emotional, or ate an 'unusual' amount variation, or anything that she could possibly really do, it got her paying the price by being sick. A few minutes at that before she rinsed her mouth out at the sink and more or less leaned back against Malik...why did puking have to require so much energy for just forcing food up one's throat? It was horrible. "Well...hopefully that only happens once...it's still not funny." Giving a light sigh and fanning at herself some with her hand to cool the heat that had jumped into her face and neck. "Next time you can be the one to throw up all the time and I'll be the one to hold your hair..."
