"That's true."

Not saying much else, before finding thier usual rooms and helping his wife get things organized, and making sure she was alright and in at least somewhat good condition, before sending a link to the Inthara's that piper was with him and that if they wanted to do a transfer they were ready and situated for it.

Valten noticed the younger D'vinn. and his female companion. Interesting. he was unaware that the heir apparent had a woman...that could prove benefical to him. So he started to make his way toward the young couple, without being obvious about it.

He thought about it for a moment and then decided that his father was probably right. Even if he was the one who was likely responsible for his current situation. At least he'd get to see others compete. He was fairly sure if Mom had had her way, he'd be home right now. "Alright. Can I buy a knife?"

"Well, lucky you." She glanced around surreptitiously, then wandered by a few of the shops, stopping at a vendor that sold necklaces. "It's too bad they don't sell paints here." She saw the other elf but couldn't tell if he was eying them or someone else. It wouldn't do to be overly paranoid, so she turned her attention back to the wares and gave Malikhai a smile.

Zahara got the link and shook her head then popped up right by the D'vinn's. "I told you not to come." Giving Piper a look but shaking her head. They all knew Piper was going to find a way to make it regardless. "Malik, you can't do a transfer if you're in the tournament. Period."

Patting his son's shoulder in soothing fashion he gave a nod. "I suppose having a fancy one of your own would keep you from playing with fancy ones you shouldn't. Long as you're responsible about it okay? It's not a toy." Not that he really had to tell Kel that, but it was important to say. "Come on, let's find you something worth having."

"They just may, you never know. Tournament is when people get to show off their best. I'm sure there's a portrait artist or two hanging around here, just waiting to capture someone in a moment of cocky expression. Can always cut deals with them." Come to think of it, she probably never got to properly enjoy tournament and he watched her fondly as she browsed some. "Pick whatever you like. Paints or otherwise." Turning a look to his brother at the tug at his elbow.

"He's got dad's old armor." Nodding to the other whom was seemingly approaching them and in his old habits of shyness tucked himself a tad closer to his brother.

Okay, that was weird. Few things put his brother off but letting his eyes wander up from the young elf, they settled on indeed that other wearing an armor style that he himself wore once upon a time.

Somehow she had the idea that tournament wasn't going to be much fun. "You know...you don't have to stay with me. You can go watch the whole thing." Blinking as Zahara was more than prompt. "Don't worry, I'll be sitting around just like I do at home, just a change in environment." Turning a look back to Malik, "She has a point Malik, I'll be fine."

"You sure she can't at least sit in the stands and watch the events? and I told you I can handle an energy transfer and still compete. I'll have more then enough time to recover before the finals."

Malik smirked lightly at Zahara.

"Considering you didn't thnk I'd manage on five minute transfers, I'd say I have a better idea what I can handle then you can sometimes."

Valten noticed another boy..he wasn't blue but seemed close to the other...which turned his attention to him. well no need for pretense, looking directly at the younger D'vinn, and making way toward him.

"She and I already worked out a deal. She may watch one event for both boys and that's it. If she so much as thinks about moving her a** anywhere else, I'll translocate her back to Twilight and chain her to the bed. I'm not playing around with either of you. You agreed to my rules and the tournament is already going to have her emotions all over the place." She simply quirked an eyebrow at Malik and then leaned back against the wall. "Malik, why must you always assume I tell you no because I want to prove to you that you can't? You might be able to handle five minute transfers, though I don't approve of your coping method and it's effect on Piper, and you might even be able to fight after it. But if you try to walk onto the field and compete after that, you'll be disqualified so fast. Magic tracers, remember? And they won't go deep enough to figure out that the energy you took has no magical qualities to it, whatsoever."

"There was nothing wrong with that blade and like I told Mom, Dhairiss said I could borrow it to practice some moves with. I didn't steal it from him and you can even ask him."

She began to peruse some of the other stands but frowned at Dhairiss' reaction to the elf. A mirror was quite helpful in looking behind her and she studied the one the vendor was selling very carefully. "He's coming over..."

“He does that because sometimes he’s a jackass.” Arms crossed and frowning at the both of them as they were bickering again. She couldn’t stand them fighting in front of her, and usually it was about her as well. It was stressful and always did wonders for putting her in a bad mood. “If we’re going to fight over me, again, then you both can just leave and I can be by myself without either of you.” She already felt bad enough as it was from other things, she didn’t need them hammering on her nerves or mental tolerance.

“The point is not that anyone stole it or anything but the way the blade itself was. To you it was harmless but in reality it did more than you thought. If it got used wrong you could have been hurt and so on.” Clapping him on the back a few times again and still trying to keep Kit close enough, “Besides, wouldn’t you rather have your own that you wouldn’t have to borrow.”

”Don’t worry about it, nothing new. You keep browsing.” Save he was from Norrath apparently by the armor, not that it bothered him too much. It wouldn’t be the first Norrath born elf to come along and it wouldn’t be the last. Though he did push his little brother over to Kaelin some as the other decided to come over and not play view from afar. And he turned his attention fully to the other as he approached, after all this was tournament but it wasn’t anything new to be approached by anyone.

"alright, alright, you both win, I'll be quiet."

Holding up his hands, before moving to his wife and rubbing her arms lightly, and pressing a kiss to her cheek.

"Come on now, don't be in a bad mood. we're here to enjoy ourselves, and get you out of the fortress a bit. how about I get you a nice cinnamon snack, will that make you feel better?"

Valten reached the trio, sparing a side glance to kaelin and dhairiss, before looking voer the younger d'vinn. the armor wasn't norrathian, but the designs were taken from it, for one who knew the style. As well it should be. Tier'dal armor was well made, and hard to get through.

"So you are the son of the butcher of bloody kithicor. I must say I expected you to be a bit...bigger. But no matter. it will be a pleasure facing you, and an honor to beat you."
PostPosted: Tue Mar 17, 2009 2:30 pm

Shaking her head and crossing her arms with a sigh. She wasn't fighting, she was telling the truth. Reaching for a vial, she handed it over. "Drink this. It will give you the energy that Malik can't. It might have some side effects which is precisely why I haven't given it to you before." Side effects like possibly killing that precious bundle of joy.

"It was a wicked knife and I'm not a little kid. Kit can't handle knives because he's a child. I'm almost an adult and can do a lot more with them than anyone else can." Rolling his eyes to that and then heading over to some of the tables which were showcasing knives. None of them were as amazing as the one Dhairiss had found in the vault, though.

She studied the man in the mirror a bit longer, frowning and turning to watch Dhairiss. "Which one do you like better?" Pointing to a necklace and the mirror in her hand but also trying to overhear the conversation. So this elf was going to be facing Malikhai? She frowned at the 'Butcher of Bloody Kithcor' but thought it better not to ask.

Of course she had to be a bit obstinate to his soothing, just to prove that point that he couldn't easily do it all the time when she wanted to put up a fight. Piper D'vinn still had some fight in her, despite the difficulties of late. "Only maybe. You can try." Taking the vial then handed over to Zahara and examining it for the moment, "We're not talking sudden and perpetual nosebleeds are we?"

"I didn't say you were a little kid, Kelligrin." Shaking his head as his son was still trying to prove a point that he shouldn't be in trouble. "Brooding on it isn't going to do you any good son." Letting Kelligrin look, though having to pick up Kit whom was a tad too wandery for his own good. Besides, the boy liked to look with his hands rather than his eyes. "Ask for the special stuff. No vendor puts all of his best on display. They set out one intriguing one and then have the best hidden away in their packs and crates." Little helpful shopping tip.

"The son of Malik D'vinn, yes." He knew who that title referred to, but that man was not his father. That was someone who was ruled by something other than his own mind, and was in the past. He didn't get a reaction from Malikhai about the little observational comment, honestly he was maybe an inch or two shorter than his father, perhaps a bit leaner but he wasn't a runt of any litter either. "The pleasure will be mine, especially when you're looking up at me from the flat of your back."

Always ever easily distracted he turned his eyes from the two and down to what Kaelin was showing him, almost instantly taken with shiny things as was his flighty nature to do so. "I like the necklace, you can show it off."

A small grin, patting her hsoulder lightly. yep she was gunna be fussy,,,he was gunn ahve to get her something cinnamonly, sweet, sugary and probably laced with icing or hot cake type. though he gave a slight glance at Zahara.

"so why haven't you given it to her before?"

beneath the helmet he smiled lightly.

"That remains to be seen. but your confidence is fetching. I plan to face your father. and that means going through you. I've waited and trained a long time to face him. he was an idol of mine."

hefting the axe over his shoulder, keeping to casual conversation.

"and I've been watching you. I think I can counter your fighting styles."

"Side effects. And you were always ready and available with energy, Malik. Even though your condemned criminal's energy isn't as healthy, it was still workable energy. Now, she's going to have none for as long as this tournament continues. That will replenish it." A slight shrug. "It remains to be seen. You tend to react to things in a way no one else does."

"Sometimes I feel like it's implied." He strolled up to one of the many vendors and glanced over the blades then frowned. "You don't have anything better than these? You must have something special hidden away, looking for just the right buyer to come along..." Sure enough, out came a wickedly sharp blade and Kelligrin took it, unsheathing it and studying it for a moment. "Dad? What do you think?"

"I think you're exactly right." She continued to hold the mirror so she could watch what the other elf was doing but he didn't seem to be threatening. Just cocky. The vendor was given a smile. "I'll take that necklace, please. Malikhai?"
PostPosted: Tue Mar 17, 2009 8:54 pm

"Fair enough. Though I take this and I reserve all rights to be as fussy and demanding as I want if it has some weird side effect that only I can produce because I'm just that special." Uncorking the vial and downing the contents, handing Zahara back the vial. "Can we stop focusing on me now? I'm not the star of this tournament after all."

"Your mother has license to baby you, she gave birth to you. I just overly worry." But letting the boy try his own hand at things and of course he was still being played because of his age to vendors. Sure, it was a blade that had some look and fancy to it, but it wasn't the best. Had an odd center seam just barely. "I think that's a novice blade. Hardly something we want." Which was of course him putting pressue to a vendor, they knew quite well that if they didn't show the goods, they lost the business. "Maybe we should keep looking."

"Then we should have a good match on our hands, that's to be sure." He may bow out to his father but that didn't mean he didn't bust his a** every year to get the coveted runner up spot. He wasn't going to give any less this year either. "Have you? Maybe you'll give me a run for my money then, I'd enjoy the change of pace." After all, aside from his father and Rainmare, he had never forfeited to anyone else. Eyes moving to the axe a moment before he turned a look over to Kaelin as she called his name. Turning his back on the other for a moment, he paid for Kaelin's necklace complete with a lined box to keep it safe for her, giving it to her with a smile and a kiss pressed to her cheek. Angling his attention back to the other he smirked. "I do hope you're as good as your armor says you are."

Malik gave her a skeptical look, but nodded some and went to get his wife the most decadent, cinnamon smothered treat he could get his hands on.

He gave a smirk under the helmet.

"I assure you, you are in for a quite large change of pace. But that will be settled on the battlefield. and I'm better then my armor says I am."

before he went back off into the crowd.
PostPosted: Tue Mar 17, 2009 11:05 pm

"That's not really my department." Zahara made sure Piper was settled in quite nicely and not about to move anytime soon and then she went back to the tents where her cleric skills were needed.

Rolling his eyes at that once more, he turned his attention back to the vendor at hand and nodded. "Are you positive you don't have anything else." Of course that made a few more interesting weapons pop out. Kelligrin studied each of them and then picked a unique drow blade up. "This is tipped in something, isn't it? Does it do anything else?" Pressing the jewel in the hilt and watching as it became a double blade. "Hmm..."

Oh good, were they done? She smiled at the kiss on the cheek, blushing in turn and tucked it carefully into the small bag she had at her side. Watching the stranger disappear back into the crowd, she shifted closer to his side. "I didn't like the feeling I got from him. Is he another one from your father's home?"

Piper gave a sigh as Malik headed off and after a bit more prodding, Zahara wandered off as well, leaving her to herself for a few moments. Granted she did like attention but sometimes she liked the few moments alone she could get where she didn’t have to worry. “Well…at least you’re worth the hassle.” Patting at her stomach lightly. Damn little life sucker…but it was her little life sucker.

Watching the other walk off, he turned his attention back to Kaelin and Dhairiss. “Yeah, he’s from Norrath, or so I think. After all, anyone can wear that armor but not everyone speaks of it as it should be spoken of. He does.” Quiet for a moment before a bright grin. "So then, anything else you two want to do before I have to drop you off in the stands with Intharas?"

Watching his boy inspect the blade with a certain keen eye he gave a grin before setting Kit down but making sure the boy stayed close as he took the blade from Kellgrin, examining it himself, reveal a compartment in the hilt capped by the pommel and testing that a bit. Wouldn’t do well for your dagger to fall apart on you. “Blade is adamantine, edges tipping in mithril. Good construction, strong mechanisms and locking…” Handing it to Kelligrin. “Now that’s a blade worth some consideration.
