If he thought she'd be pleased by his breakdown of the situation, he was wrong. But then again, he was teasing her as he normally did and letting it upset her only made her even more predictable. She untied her cloak and hung it on the peg then kicked off her boots as well to let her toes breathe as she made her way to the kitchen to finish preparations. "I don't know. I was counting on you to know if she had someone since she spends more time with you. Mixing up a salad, she shrugged. "Faate's an adult and more than capable of changing her mind on things."

"Mine wouldn't." Malikhai would hardly care about that though. She wasn't so sure she seriously cared herself. "It's no different from your parents. Your father is kind of like a drow and your mother is surface. She's from a different plane entirely. Then again, I suppose it's easier to see the differences in them than it would be in two elves who look similar and act similar as well. And have borne a child together."

"A trouble maker? since when?"

Sure his son was flightly and such, but hardly a troublemaker. or was he using that wall trick in manners that he shouldn't. but he'd never suspect his son as a troublemaker..maybe some rumors.

"Yes, do tell about this. what were you doing that's considered troublesome."

Kicking off his own boots and racking his pole arm on the wall he followed her to the kitchen, leaning against the doorframe and watching her as she was going about cooking and kitchen things, knowing very well to stay out when she was all involved in there. Though he did seem to examine the floor some....hm, needed scrubbing. "We don't talk about men. Not that she's brought up. Changing her mind on a whim just seems out of place for her. You sure you didn't mistake 'boy' for 'something magic shiny'?"

"Yeah...my family is pretty whacky but you know, they're still my family and I wouldn't have it any other way. Despite all that comes with it." Of course referencing more trying teenager years. Hated those. Jostling her lightly he smiled and changed the subject to something easier. "So, tournament is in a few days. Excited yet?"

He shrugged innocently enough and his parents would indeed know that he was honestly innocent in this case. "Couple of my teachers keep saying I'm a bad influence on the other kids because I don't pay attention or sit still all the time. I don't see why it matters, I do my work and make good grades. Not my fault other kids aren't doing their thing. They're not even paying attention to me anyway so I don't see how I'm being a bad influence and a trouble maker." He was guilty of a nap or two as well, but what elf his age didn't have the occassional forced reverie? He still got his work done...

She frowned and thought back over the brief conversation she'd had with her daughter before she'd scampered out of the house. "Well, no. She didn't actually say 'boy' or 'date' or anything like that. She was just acting so cryptically, talking about something she really needed to take care of. And she stopped in front of the mirror in the hallway and fluffed her hair." Turning back to Sevilin with a quirked eyebrow. He'd raised two girls now, he knew what that likely meant. "But maybe she was going to pick something up that had to do with magic. She wouldn't tell me."

She felt those familiar warm tendrils uncurl inside her as he talked about his family with that warmth in his voice. Would he ever do that about her? Probably not to her but maybe to someone else. Startled by his jostling, she rested a hand on his chest to keep her balance and then glanced up at him. "Somewhat. My stomach always jumps into my throat when you compete and then drops right back to my toes when you take a hit. Is your father competing this year again?"

Malik rubbed his chin lightly.

"So your fidgety and such, but you do your work, and a few teachers see other students not paying attention and think it has to do with your fidgeting. reasonable assumption there, but a wrong one. So is there anything that they want from us? parent teacher meetings, suggested you might need some kind of medication?"

"Hair fluffy usually always mean boy something...you all fluff your hair because you're trying to impress someone." Which left the possibilities even more open. "Well if she's not telling you and she's not telling me, is this the part where we should be concerned?"

Reaching over with his other hand he patted at her stomach lightly, "Well, you'll just have to tell that stomach of yours that I'll be fine and it shouldn't hassel you. Besides, I always have you to help me out after whatever beating I take." Shrugging though, "I'm not sure. I know he'll be going to at least make an appearance. If he competes...well, we'll see how that goes." Even if he already knew.

Cue frown. "I'm not sick." Always very defensive against anyone saying he was sick unless he had actually broken a bone or caught something or backfired his magic. But as with his usual behavior, that frown faded quickly. "Nope, they just tell me to stop being a troublemaker, sit still, and pay attention." Huffing to that, "What am I supposed to be paying attention to if I'm done already and the lecture half is over? I read my stuff ahead of time too." Part of his flightly nature, he always had to be doing something.

"Maybe you should be boosted up a level. If it's not challenging you and giving you that much free time then you're obviously ready for something higher in skill level."

"Exactly." She wasn't really sure what it meant since her eldest daughter had never acted that way. "I don't think so. She's a smart girl and more like you than me. I think she'll be fine." Leaning sideways to grasp the smaller bowls, she bumped the dressing jar with her elbow and sent it careening to the floor. "No!" A quick move and she caught it before it could shatter but now she had a mess. Thus, she grabbed the rag and began wiping up the spilled dressing, her back to her husband. "Besides, if she does get into trouble, we'll know it and you can rampage in and save the day."

She glanced down and gave a giggle then leaned on Malikhai more firmly just because he was bigger and stronger than she was and it made her feel dainty and feminine. He had that knack and she enjoyed it. "You'll give it up if he does, Malikhai. You do it everywhere. I understand why but I wish he would stay out so you could win."

"Yes I know your not sick. not all medicine is about sickness, you know."

nodding lightly at hsi wife.

"that may be the best idea. It might be something to look into, Dhairiss. Unless your already in the highest class alotments, then if you want you can always come back home for schooling. I don't mind that idea at all you know."

"Most likely. She doesn't have that drive that you and Zykariel share go to plunging headfirst into everything you see coming your way." Smirking at that one before watching in horror as she started to make a mess of the kitchen. Yup he would be scrubbing the whole thing down after dinner tonight. But watching her clean, he wandered over to her, playfully pulling her to him by the back of her top like he had earlier. "I get to rampage? What are you really up to?"

A shrug and a nod from him. "That I do. But if people are smart they'll stop expecting me to want to oust my father. Granted if it was anyone else, I'd be champion already." That was just how he had always done it, despite his rocky start of tournaments and having to forfeit that first time because of that koada'dal jerk. Technically...he had never finished an entire tournament.

"Yeah but it usually means you are or something else is not exactly right with you, which in my book makes you sick in some way." And he did not enjoy that at all. People looked at him funny when he wasn't feeling well for some reason, especially those chest pains that popped up from time to time. But a tilt of his head at his mother's suggestion and as his father followed up on it. "Sure why not. You can look up what they have going on and if you think nothing is going to keep me busy, I can always come back home. Means I'll be around more to help with mom."

"Yes, thank you." She squeezed her rag out in the sink and began wiping up the rest before she found herself tugged across the floor. Leaning back against him with a laugh, she shook her head. "Nothing. I swear it. I just worry about Faate. Moreso about Lyssie but Faate needs her moments of mom-worry time, too." But tilting her head back so she could look up at him. "You stopped me from cleaning...what are you up to?"

"Few people are smart, Khai." She was one of them because she really wanted to see him win. She knew he'd probably never do it because Malik wouldn't give up his spot in the tournament, but she could hope. "Would you fight me?"

"Fair enough. but there are things that are not sicknesses, but quirks that can be controlled. Or phobias. But I'll look into it..though probably it might be best to keep you and your brother home for awhile to help your mother. speaking of which....where is your brother anyway. I know he hasn't left the fortress yet."

and that twittering vibe on bonds said something interesting was happening or had happened.

"Because if I let you clean then I have nothing left to clean later. Besides, I'm hungry and food doesn't get paid attention to if you're cleaning and you refuse to let me three feet within the range of the stove unless I'm cleaning it."

"Good question. I would fight you if I thought that you were skilled enough and really really wanted to try it. In tournament and mock settings only, other than that I don't think I'd fight you like that just because."

Tilting his head, "My quirks are fine." He knew he was quirky and flighty, but he never thought anything was wrong because of them. "Fair enough." He didn't mind staying home one bit. But a little shrug from him, "Khai and Kaelin were still upstairs last I knew."

She wasn't going to let herself be disappointed that he hadn't been steering things toward more amorous avenues. He was hungry and with Sevilin, his stomach took priority. "What if I don't want you cleaning later?" She swiped a bit more of the juice up so she wouldn't lose her balance and trip and fall, then climbed to her feet using his shoulders as a brace. Brushing off her skirt, she finished tossing the salad, pulled out the steaks and seasoned them and began carrying things to the table. "Can't have a hungry elf on my hands. He might eat me instead."

She was actually quite pleased with that answer and gave him a grin that told him so. "I've been known to wield a blade or two myself. It's illusions that I'm not as good at but I've gotten much better thanks to your help in the past. Without you, I never would have passed that class."

"You can always distract me? You're good at distracting me. Especially when you try very hard." Chuckling and pressing a kiss to her shoulder before letting her go to go about food things. Woman had almost finally trained him into regular meals...his stomach had become a bit demanding. "Would that be a bad thing?" Giving her a smirk before meandering over to the table to plop down and very much enjoy grown up food...after of course cutting up some for Nym.

"Well, illusions aren't for everyone. I quite enjoy them immensly. Most people don't unless they get really good. But I was happy to help." Grinning at her, "How come I haven't seen this fancy blade work?"

She studied him for a long moment, a ghost of a smirk hovering on her lips. He was referring to exactly what she thought he was. "Sometimes I don't even have to try." Sending him her own little signals. She took a few bites and chewed slowly. "I can't think of anything I'd like better."

She laughed and shook her head. "I had no reason to fight you, Malikhai. But I'll be happy to demonstrate for you anytime. I might even be able to teach you a thing or two since our last lesson."
