Malik didn't like being rebuked for what should be good news. and it showed on his face when the slammed things shut.
"Will you excuse me, Zahara."
And Malik got up, and went to find his wife, leaning against the wall and went right over and picked her up.
"You know, hiding the fact your pregnant is not a good thing, 'Chev."

She sturggled a little as he picked her up, mostly because she just wanted to be away from everything right now but that didn't last long seeing as in her motions of being upset her body was reprimanding her which made her still. "And telling you isn't a good thing either. Put me down."

carrying her to a chair and settling her down in it, and sitting by the chair edge.
"I'm surprised, yes. but I'm not upset. we'll see how this goes, and if it becomes too dangerous, we'll deal with it. and why didn't you tell me Zahara was feeding you anti-pregancy drugs? that might have ben a reason why you were flushed for so long..or was that after the flushed thing?"

"Well I am upset, Malik!" Clearly. "No you see, there is no 'we'll deal with it later'. I can't do that." And they both knew that he, and Zahara for the matter could and would. If she slipped too far down the drain, so to speak, those two would team up faster than anything and take charge of what needed to be done. "And she started doing that after I was already pregnant. I have no use for non-existant fertility if I'm already pregnant."

"Don't say that, because you and I both know that that's not true. Dhairiss was bad enough, you know that." There was no sense in lying or trying to pad the truth, she knew that. That's why she had been keeping it to herself. Didn't help that she was trying to not be emotional when that was all her body wanted. "I don't know Malik, alright? I don't know. Yes is wrong, no is wrong."

"Yes, they do." He left before she could continue and Zahara sighed. She'd give them a bit of time to begin to work things out. Fifteen minutes later, she got up and followed their tracks until she found them. "You're both emotional, right now, and you probably don't want to hear this. But let me say it anyway."
"Piper, you know how dangerous this is for you. I didn't think it was possible...I was wrong. However, we need to make some decisions. I'd like to do a full physical on you and assess just what we're dealing with. Is that agreeable to you both?"
"It seems to me like sometimes loving someone might make you more angry at them. And for silly reasons, too." Lifting her gaze to meet with his, she frowned at the look that crossed his face and wondered if maybe she should stop this conversation completely. "Have you ever loved anyone like your father loves your mother, Khai?"

Malik gave a slight frown, but nodded.
"If you feel it's needed."
and he got up, but didn't move far.
"and I know how hard Dhairiss was on you...but we know that now and maybe we can make this easier, right?"

"I'm afraid of what 'making it easier' will exactly entail." She had a good idea thought but turned a look to Zahara, ever there to be the voice of reason. Granted she wasn't going to enjoy being poked and prodded at either. "Whatever you want to do Zahara..." Yes she did know that these two were soon going to take over her life if things went on direction. Better let them start now.
"Yeah, it can. But at the same time you still love them and things get set right. Besides, most relationships needs tiffs." Watching her thought as this conversation got increasingly odd. "I think I have, or do."

"The truth of it is, bearing the child will be hard enough but carrying this baby is going to be the real challenge." Shaking her head and leading Piper off to her bedroom where she gently settled the other elf on the bed and began the same sort of checkup she'd done on the woman the last two times she'd been pregnant. "Piper...I need a list of all your symptoms. You're not even two months pregnant yet." This was looking bad. And the analysis she'd done with the briefest ping of magic was telling her that there was a concentration of magical energy that would likely put a drain on Piper. Gently pressing on various parts of her stomach as she spoke.
"Do they?" She'd never heard of a relationship needing a tiff before...had always thought tiffs were bad things. She supposed it went along with her highly limited knowledge about love and such. Her lips wreathed in a smile though it was tainted by a bit of sadness that she didn't even know was dwelling in her eyes. "Why do you think you love her, Khai? How does she make you feel?"

Malik was sitting in the chair, with a wineglass now in hand, thining and staring off into space...though anyone knew that the second piper even mewwed loud he'd be up and wondering what was going on. He acted the same during Dhairiss' time in the womb as well...though part of him was going over every necromantic trick he knew to see if there was something to make this easier on his wife.

Thus came the poke, prod, and questions that always came when Zahara wanted to give her a once over. "Please don't prod me too hard, I'll lose my breakfast." Shaking her head with a light sigh at her friend, "The usual...nausea, morning sickness, fatigue, light headed-ness, the longer reverie thing, the emotional thing. Indeed, the usual things." Why did nature have to make this difficult?
Oh crap he knew that look, that was the sad look. Things were about to go bad on him. "Well...I pretty much feel everything my dad said. I want to keep her safe and all, and sometimes she makes me so upset and annoyed I want to bang my head against a wall. But that passes and the better feelings come back."

"I'm going to try not to prod you at all, just feeling around to make sure everything is where it needs to be." The baby wasn't big enough yet to force her stomach to distend, anyway. Slipping down between her legs, she quickly looked for inflammation and irritation of the skin and made sure Piper's body was still producing all required hormones. "Some of those symptoms shouldn't be coming around for another few months." Nope this wasn't looking good at all. "Come on, Piper, let's go see your husband so I can tell him what I think." She helped her friend off the bed and headed back downstairs to the chair where Malik had plopped himself. "She's definitely pregnant...and the baby is already draining her energy."
Zahara took a seat across from the couple, folded her hands and took a breath. "If you really want to do this, it's going to be a long, hard road. And there's a rather high chance that you could lose this baby at any stage of pregnancy. If that happens in one of the later stages, Piper, you might be taken along with it."
"I bet she feels bad when she makes you feel that way." Her mind was flitting around possibilities and wonderings and she tilted her head at him once again. "Would you like it if someone were to say they felt that way about you?"

"Are there any methods to counter act the draining on her body? I know of necromantic methods, reverse lifetaps and such but I'd rather not if I didn't have to use them. And if this is taking such a toll...honestly...shouldn't her body have flushed itself clean?"
giving a more concerned look to his wife.
"I mean yes, despite that another child would be great...If push came to shove I'd rather keep you."

“Yes, I know that.” Which was not a happy thought because that most likely meant bad things.” But she let Zahara do what she needed to do before following after her and plopping down next to Malik. She had a good idea how this discussion was going to go. Which was mostly unpleasant. Did not help that they were assessing the situation without emotions involved when she couldn’t do the same. “Yes, I know all of that. I just…” Why did this have to be difficult? “Look. I’ve been bonding with her for over a month now…I can’t make these kinds of choices. You two just…do whatever you want with me.” Maybe that was the best way to do this.
“Not bad per say, mostly just sad. Especially when I know it doesn’t have to be as bad as she makes it.” The funny part was that he was indeed talking about her. This conversation was getting increasingly interesting. “Yeah, I would. I think everyone wants to have that.”
