Kaelin seemed to take a moment to think about it and digest it before she tilted her head and studied him once more. So her parents physically punished her. But if they were doing it out of a sense of love to teach her positive things, then it had to be okay, right? Perhaps that's where she'd gotten so confused last time. "Kelligrin talks about being beaten with a spoon. And Zykariel has mentioned it, too. But you don't feel the same way about it."

"I know it is."
before handing paperwork to his son and showing him where to sign off on it...adn then taking a glance at his wife, trying while she's distracted with cinnamon to pry a bit and see what she was hiding in that constriction on thier bonds.

"When they say 'beat with a spoon', yes they get hit with a spoon but they don't get beat. Their mother barely hits them hard enough to sting, and she only does it once. Mostly because they try to stick their hands in the food before it's done. I'm not upset about it because they aren't being really hurt. And their mother follows up with a kiss almost every time."
He took his time in extra carefully signing his name where his father told him to. Honestly this tournament thing could go either way for him and he didn't feel bothered either way.
Cinnamon had a dual purpose right now. She had the apparent dispositon for morning sickness when she was pregnant. Bad morning sickness. It had happened with both her boys and that would be hard to explain to Malik if she started it now. The sick excuse wouldn't fly and he'd want Zahara to check her out. Zahara would figure it out easily with once inspection. But a look to her husband as she felt him trying to pull things out of her. "I told you, I'm fine."

Okay, so she was hit more than once and there rarely was any kind of affection following. But not all parents were like his, right? It seemed kind of silly to dwell on the fact that her parents weren't really the touchy feely type. They were never going to be and that was pretty much that. "I simply don't understand, Khai." And she probably never would. "You told me you needed me to do something for you later. Is this later? What did you need from me?"

A slight grin at his wife.
"Can't help it sometimes you know that."
But settling down in a seat and tugging his wife down on his lap, and nuzzling her neck lightly, resting his hands on her stomach.
"So we have a free day. work isn't important, is there anything you want to do to enjoy the day, 'Chev?"

And it was time to want to bang his head on the wall again and back to the slightly annoyed mood. She was always taking three steps back. Moving him off her lap to sit on the bed on her own he got himself up and nodded. "Yeah...I needed you to talk to my dad. He wanted to ask you a few things."
"I know, you worry about my well being too much. It's love." Letting him pull her down, though she didn't push his hands away from her middle in paranoid fashion. He'd really know something was up then. It was important to be as normal as possible until nature felt the urge to purge her body of the little invader once it realized it wouldn't support it. As much as that saddened her to think that way...well it was probably true and would happen. "Free day? What happened to meddling in other people's affairs still?
"And that means I'm leaving if you're starting that up." Besides, he had a blade to fetch.

He was pulling away from her, moving her from close proximity which usually meant she'd annoyed him with her answers and he didn't want to upset her by showing it. He probably didn't realize he upset her regardless just because he pulled away. But she didn't want him to know that and she chided herself on getting upset. That had never ended well with her parents. It was never a fear that Malikhai would hurt her...but that he would give up on her, leave her if she got too whiny or clingy or said something about him hurting her. "Oh...well, okay. But I don't want to do it alone..."

"Well...Malikhai has to decide when I can see her. I think he's trying to prepare her for me asking questions."
A slight grin at his wife and a shake of his head at his youngest.
"We're not going to be going to be doing that here, at least not right now."
but kept his wife on his lap and grinned lightly at his youngest son, while waiting to see when malikhai would have gotten Kaelin ready to questions.

Sighing he reached out and ran a hand through her hair before pressing a kiss to the white locks. "Fair enough, I'll stay here with you. But you have to be honest, even if you don't want me knowing somethings." Thusly heading himself downstairs to find his father, whom was with his mother at the time apparently. "Alright, if you want to question her can you do it now? She's in a talking mood."
Watching their sons more or less switch places, she patted at Malik's hands to get him to let her go and vacated his lap, knowing that he was going to take the offer. "Remember. Gentle." And she needed to co calm her stomach before she threw up.

"Yes yes, gentle..."
getting up and motioning to his son.
"After you. Things are going well at teh moment between you two, right? and did you know your younger brother apparently has somehow gathered the talent to walk through walls?"

"Thank you, Khai." Squeezing his arm gently even as he was leaving her. With him gone, she took a deep breath and tried to figure out just what Malik was going to ask her. Probably about her parents...that might not go well. She'd have to tell the truth but she really didn't know much. Fretting, noises in the hall distracted her and she glanced up just as the men returned. Forcing a smile, she bowed her head. "Lord D'vinn. Thank you for letting me stay here and recover."

"Sure, they're going fine." Not really but he was back at that point where he didn't have anything to explain to her anymore without repeating himself. He may say he was fine but he was clearly reading defeated in his posture. "Huh, I thought he was just joking when he said that. Can he really?" Leading his father back up to Kaelin's room and letting them both in, closing the door behind them and leaning against it.
Okay, just breathe. Why are you even thinking that you're going to be sick? This thing isn't sticking around long enough to make you sick. You're getting worked up over nothing. Yup, all she had to be was remain calm. thusly she had plopped back where they were sitting as soon as Malik left, gnawing on cinnamon again. Which was nothing out of the ordinary.

Malik watched her and his son a moment. before taking a seat and sitting down in it, crossing his arms lightly and resting one leg over the other.
"Your welcome. As malikhai has todl you, I have some questions. they are indeed about your parents..some things have been brought to my attention concerning your father, and judging from the condition you came to us in."
a light frown.
"As you've heard, your father as had an accident in the combat matches. he's quite lucky he wasn't killed, but from what I'm gathering, has been crippled. So he won't be laying anymore hands on you. but I need to ask if you know of anything that you may have seen, or someone you may have noticed around, that might have prompted such a brutal attack."

Her face tightened at the subject matter but she pulled her knees in close together and clenched her fists tightly. Taking a single deep breath, she looked to Malikhai for assurance and then frowned. "You mean it wasn't you?" She'd just figured it was Malik who had taken him out since his son felt so strongly about what went on between her parents and herself. "They have matches all the time and most of the same elves compete in them. It's not usually a life or death kind of thing so it's strange that something of that magnitude happened."

He had nodded to Kaelin at her look, telling her without words that it was okay to answer him. His father wouldn't hurt Kaelin he knew that much. And hopefully he'd remember his wife's warnings. Though he was surprised that she thought Malik had gone after her father...he had had an accident, there were plenty of witnesses to that. "Fighting styles evolve all the time, it's not too uncommon for someone to come back into the game more of a threat then before."
