And there would be the second one. Looking down as his youngest daughter latched to him and started to babble about things. "If you say you missed me the most, then I can't argue with you on it." Nodding lightly as he picked her up, "Andal is full of things we don't have here." Things he considered less than savory as well. But at his son's calling, he readjusted his hold on his daughter and started up the stairs...he frankly wasn't surprised because he knew she'd sneak off sooner or later. "Calm down Zykariel, I know exactly where she is." And he was tempted to head down there...but runes were filling him in on things and Piper was down there as well. He considered her well in hand this time. "She's taking her own moment to reconcile this all."
Piper was here for three reasons, in reality. Moral support for Zahara, extra protection just in case, and because if he said anything she wanted to hear what it was since he hadn't been talking. From her time with Malik she knew anything a silent person said became useful in the right way. This one was not disappointing the practice. She also knew that ill made contracts were never a good thing and that was going to be the first thing she got to the bottom to... through Malik of course because she was not going to deal with Tier'dal.
"He's got a name. Tree Rat." The naming of objects that held no personality was a tad beyond his grasp, that is when it came to impersonal objects at least. He still couldn't figure out why Rawr wouldn't talk to him, but it was very very mean and he had decided he didn't like the stuffed toy.
Malikhai plopped down heavily indeed, feeling the commonplace drain that came with these things for those who were not used to it or similar things that caused such drains. It didn't startle him however how his father still labeled himself into a class and such, but at least he did it in a positive matter...if that made sense to anyone else besides him to say that. Zykariel was right, their parents were screwed up.
His father wasn't just all blood-thirsty and what not anymore. And he believed that, gods forbid, something happened to his mother then his father wouldn't go back to being who he was and would remember what she did and how she would feel if he switched sides on her. "Well, if it makes you feel better...I don't feel any different about you." Shrugging lightly, "I suppose that's where I take after mom...if I let the past dictate what I think, then I'm going to miss a lot in the present let alone the future."

"If you don't pay attention to the past, it can return to haunt you, or repeat itself."
Looking at his oldest.
"And what were these fights about in school? People trying to earn a reputation at your expense?"

"I know you're supposed to pay attention to it, but you still can't let it dictate your life so if it does come back to haunt you, it won't take over your present and your future." Enlightened statement for a boy his age, but he had his moments. However a blink to his father at the new subject that had come up. He supposed the perk to everyone wanting to get on his father's good side, was that anything wrong by school standards that he did wasn't told to his parents. Which said subject got a shrug. "The other kids think a certain way about me and they try to push me around because of it. I don't let them." He couldn't control the school staff and their trying to suck up to his father by making him look fantastic in school, but he could control his peers.

A slight grin at his statement. yes, he had his moments. he'd blame that one though on his mother. But a shrug and a grin.
"How do they see you? and what does Zykariel know about this, if anything?"

"The spoiled little brat who's hides behind his daddy's cloak." Of course said fellow teenagers weren't afraid of any retiribution from Malik, in fact they liked to invite it daring Malikhai to 'go get his daddy because they were picking on him'. He however had decided to take matters into his own hands, speaking the language that bullies themselves spoke.
A little shrug though, "Zykariel doesn't come to school much anymore, I don't bother him about it." Which made this whole thing a tad ironic...seeing as that was one of the reasons Malikhai had taken from his own home schooling in the first place. Trouble makers weren't stupid though, when Zykariel was around they were perfect little angels because Zykariel was the alpha wolf among them.

"Is that so. Tell me son, did I ever teach you how to use the Harm Touch? do forgive me if I have, things have been hectic of late. if I haven't I think now is a good time for you to learn about it."
hiding behind his cloak, eh. Oh well next time those boys wanted it, he'd teach his son how to really instill fear and respect in them.

"You started to." But the lesson had never gotten finished, whether it was because of someone's intervention or such things just fell by the wayside. He could do it a little, but the skill wasn't developed enough to be something to ooh and ahh over. Sure, hurt if you weren't expecting it but it wasn't like what his father could do at all and he knew it would be a waste of energy on his part to try and use it againt his tormenting peers, only to have them recover all too quickly and beat the hell out of him for it before he himself recovered his wits. "Yeah well you know...they need someone to pick on and apparently, I'm more fun to harass than girls."

"then lets finish what we started. teach those that want to pick on you a reason not to do it again."
Patting his son on the thigh lightly, and getting up, whistling for one of the gladiatoral slaves to come out and stand there....not thrilled either at the prospect.
"The Harm Touch is not just a focus of energy, but a focus of emotion. it's all your angers, all your hates, your frustrations...all the negative emotions. it supplements, feeds the energy you focus. the deeper you dig, the stronger it becomes, the darker the energy turns. from brighter red, to a near blood red. the darker it is, the more lethal it becomes."
"and your emotional fuel doesn't need to be real. it can be something imagined...like for example, something horrible happening to Kaelin. if just the idea makes your stomach clench, it can be fuel to the Harm Touch."

"I suppose then along with pink not being an impressive color when trying to intimidate, it also means that I'm not digging deep enough." Because pink was pretty much what he had. Aside from that moment in the tournament where he had used it, but he indeed had fuel then. Hate for the elf whom threatened to take his father from him was indeed a high octane sort of fuel. Getting himself up though and looking to the slave, all of them knowing full well what his purpose there was for.
A look at his hand and concentrating for a moment to call on that basic trick, unfueled and harmless without intent behind it. He was pleased to know however that the emotion didn't have to be real...his father may be at ease to focus his hate and such but that was an emotion his father had from his past. Malikhai was good with not having such a burden on his own shoulders. "What if I don't have time to think, or imagine up things?"

"Then use anger. hate is a powerful tool, and is the most potent. but anger can fuel it just as fast, if not quite as strong. aggression. it just takes a little more focus, as anger usually isn't quite as tangible, so to speak.aggression. the need, the desire to inflict as much pain as you can on someone. like for example. what's the first emotion that comes to your mind at the name Ravenwing?"

He didn't like getting angry over things either, but he supposed that that was just something he was going to have to deal with. Not that it could be too hard, seeing as being a teenage he had a lot going on the legitimately pissed him off. At then mentioon of the name, he looked to his father giving a slight frown. He knew the name...but he didn't at the same time. He knew his mother didn't like to talk about it and whenever that name was brought up, it was almost like she either got unreasonably angry or scarily distant. "Not enough, I think." Frowning a bit more before holding his hand out and closing his eyes. What was the one thing that was pissing him off the most these days?

Malik frowned lightly. he should have known that name more then that.
"Ravenwing is the one that tortured your mother to the point of nearly breaking her mind. I thought you would have just seen that...perhaps not though."

For him that was all still settling in and his mind was still trying to catch up to all it was learning. Another issue of being a child, it took a while to set in which is why his head still felt like it was swimming too. Not to mention, his father's hate though show to him was not his own to feel. But with eyes closed and his father's mentioning, his mind did direct him to that particular instance...at least how it had been from his father's point of few. Which indeed caused him to frown more and a darker color of energy to leap and dance around his hand. "Just takes a while."

Malik grinned some.
"Take a look at your hand, see the difference that a little anger and hate can make in that particular skill. then find something that really angers you. something that drives you to want to hurt someone. real or not...like picture one of these kids doing to kaelin what they do to you. or to your younger brother once he is of age."

"Very good." She wasn't about to argue with the child. After spending so much time with all of the little ones she'd learned children thought differently and their logic worked differently as well. It was hard enough just to learn their language. "I think I need one more color for the butterfly's body. What's your next favorite color after blue?"
He didn't like that answer at all and shook his head. "Are you sure that's wise? These...elves are capable of things, Dad. They want the secret to our magic. He had some kind of secret agenda or something..." Frowning, "And all he's got to do is press the right buttons and Mom will give him something you don't want him to have."
Zahara wasn't really concerned over what this fool thought. He thought Sevilin wouldn't do it but he didn't realize how Sevilin felt about his family. His children were extremely important to him and the loss of one was a big deal. But Gizdean had also threatened and harmed her which was a very big no-no. Losing her would alter his whole way of life and that he couldn't handle. She knew that just like Piper did. Kicking him in the stomach, she sent him to the floor once more then spat on him. "I know what my son has done and it will be taken care of. Cerrilia promised him things and we will deal with that. That, however, has nothing to do with you. You'll never be leaving this room. I do hope you understand that."
