“Oh, come on… you’ll get it! It’s like riding a bike, once you know what you’re doing,” he assured her, failing to mention that she might have to get bruised up a little in the process of learning. Kyle sighed with a smile on his face, shaking his head a little as she kept her eyes shut like that would transport her back to solid ground.
Nearly lurching forward to catch the girl once he let go, Kyle backed up a bit to let her find her balance. He couldn’t help but outright laugh at her a few moments later, however, because her balance seemed to be a very awkward ballet stance. “Are you practicing to be an ice dancer or something?” he chuckled, crossing his arms and seeing what she would do next, “Well, the important thing is that you haven’t fallen yet. Now maybe… try to slowly get into a normal position?” He slid closer to her and shrugged, not sure how to explain any better than that. Every person needed to experience the feel of the ice in their own way, and Samantha was no different. After a few seconds of thought, he came up with something that he thought might entice the girl to learn quickly. “How about… if you can move around on the ice without falling for… uh… thirty seconds then I’ll pull you while I skate, like a ride,” Kyle suggested, sure the offer would be enough motivation.

Samantha held the position before frowning at him. His offer did seem like a
little fun. "Like riding a bike?" Her face furrowed a bit. She had only ridden a
tri-cycle when she was very little.
Slowly she tried standing upright, but alas- her feet slipped from under her
and let out a yelp as her bum hit the solid ground. it didn't seem to hurt the
girl too much, it must have been the petticoats...
A determined look swept over her face before trying to get up, frowning
when her hands and feet kept slipping. Even if Kyle had offered a hand to
help her up, she wouldn't take it as she continued to get up.
And for an instant- the girl paused, looked at the ice before putting her foot
square in the center of her for balance- her center of gravity. With this new
knowledge, the girl was easily able to get up, and slowly adjusted herself to
stand, with a few slips here and there.

"Yep~. Once you figure out how to do it, you'll never forget. Though... that doesn't exactly mean that you still won't fall off or anything," he admitted, watching as she started adjusting her position. Kyle visibly winced as the girl lost her footing and landed on her behind, hand outstretched in a failed attempt to catch her before she hit the ice. Though he pulled his hand back when it appeared that she wasn't in any pain, the force probably absorbed by the fluffy petticoat.
Assured that Samantha wouldn't hurt herself too badly if she did slip again, Kyle slid a little closer to the middle of the lake, glancing between the young girl and the other skaters to see if any of the cute babes were enjoying the brisk winter day. Once his small companion was relatively balanced he turned his full attention back to her, giving her a thumbs up. "There, you've got it! Now you've just gotta slide on purpose, and then you'll be skating!" he encouraged.

Samantha frowned a little. "I'm unsure you can actually 'skate' with these shoes
on. You can slide, I'm sure, but in order to skate, you need skates." She flailed
for a moment to correct herself, before trying to take a step.
Her foot slid out from under her and once again she was a flurry of frills and
petticoat. She managed to correct herself somehow before groaning in
aggravation. She watched how Kyle stepped, and copied him, slowly getting
used to making sure she was totally balanced, and not putting too much weight
on her foot.
As she walked, she got more comfortable, her steps getting more and more
normal as she walked flat-footed towards the man. "You don't skate on the
ground without skates."

Kyle raised an eyebrow before turning his sights up to the sky in thought, crossing his arms. "I guess you're right, but sometimes sliding can be just as much fun. The only real difference is actual skating makes it look like you're gliding," he answered after a moment, looking back down to see her flail. He quieted his laugh as Samantha's limbs fought to keep her balance in check, taking a few steps in her direction.
"Looks like you've got it!" he said, a large grin on his face as she finally approached, "I'd say you've been on the ice for more than thirty seconds, wouldn't you?" Kyle held out a hand for the small girl to grab, having every intention of bolting across the ice once he was sure she wouldn't end up falling over or sliding into a snowbank. Luckily for them, most of the skaters had started to make the trek back the the Order for the day, thinning the amount of obstacles they would have to watch out for. "You better hang on tight! I might accidentally launch you to the other side of the lake otherwise!"
