Camwen humble_gypsy_traveller Teeshann lily- sounds like fun. i can't run at all. the kids like to take advantage of this at times. LOL. so my daughter and i have been slowly planning her birthday party. she wants to do a halloween theme. just realized i only have like 3 weeks to get everything planned and bought and made. ahhhhhhhh. i'm making all the invitations and decorations. i need to figure out some games or something. so far all i have is having them decorate masks. How about "the hot hairy spider" instead of hot potato and bobbing for worms in apples? hehe those sound like fun. I'm always scared to host kids parties at the house. My fear is that everyone will be bored and get cranky. So far they've been ok but it's a lot of work. One of the activities I usually do is a themed treasure hunt. You hand one of the kids a clue to where the next clue will be (you can draw pictures if they can't read yet). At each (or every other) new clue is a small treat or prize for everyone and then a larger one at the end. The kids take turns reading the clues - and you can always put their names on specific prizes if you think they would fight over who gets what. Hey that's a great idea too! Wow cam...you're always popping up with great ideas...I guess it's a mother thing...if I ever become a father...wow...I don't know what I'd do for my kid's bday's

In other news...
The fair that my g/f and I went to was...AWESOME! We got there a bit late...so we were only able to spend five hours there...but we managed to do almost everything.
First we hit the funnel cake cart (for those who aren't familiar with it, it's a deep fried ring that kinda looks like a cross between a huge curly fry crossed with an onion ring...without the onion)...had one heavily laiden with icing sugar, a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and a big mess of strawberries in strawberry sauce. Then we each downed a huge prezel and it was off to the rides! First we went on the Tilt-a-whirl...picture a ferris wheel were the seats are in a cage and the cage tumbles; then it was off to the Polar Express...a ride that spins backwards at 15mph with music blaring...then after getting our balance back, we went on the bumper cars (I smashed my g/f good at least 10 times! heh!), then we went to play a little crown and anchor...we won $11 each, then ended the day by going on the drop zone...a ride that takes you up 50 storeys high then free falls at around 20mph...ah good times! rofl

Ahh, thank you so much. ^-^
And I'm pleased that the two of you had such a lovely time together. But might you explain how to play crown and anchor? Because, to be quite honest, I've never heard of it before.

I still love the fast roller coasters and ones similar to that, but if I'm just spun in a circle I get queasy. gonk

Ethereal Cereal I've heard driving school in Finland is really intensive, that they practically train you to be a race car driver before you get your license. It'd be like a state here in the USA that trained you to be a sniper who could hit bullseye from a mile off before they let you even consider buying a gun. I can, however, thank Finland's driver's ed system for producing Miika Hakkinen, because he's a phenomenal driver. Ah, the driving schools. Well, it depends on what is hard and what is not. In order to get a license here you have to attend to about 20 hours of theories and 32 instructed driving lessons. You also have to attend to a special driving lesson that focuses on driving on slippery surfaces and on dark. In the end you have a painfully taking theory exam and also driving exam and you pretty much have to nail it or you'll have to do the tests again. After this you get a license that is valid for two years. In the two years you have to also pass another driving exam, attend to few theory lessons and when you are done with those you get a license that is valid for 50 years. So yes, it's strict but there are plans that there will be even more mandatory driving lessons for the driver's ed. Also there are rules like if you get three speeding tickets in a year and have this first license that is valid only for two years, you have to do the whole theories and exams and so one all over again. What comes to the rally drivers. I think it's the extreme conditions and also the dedication that makes some of the Finns good drivers. I think most of these guys have started with micro cars so they've driven some sort of four wheel vehicle since they were a kid. Also one thing to note is that all succesfull Finnish drivers are from a rural areas. If you live in a middle of nowhere and the conditions are what they are, you have to learn how to drive if you want to get anywhere. wink @Exxos: I would also describe our seasons "It's snowing, it's snowing and raining, it's raining, it's snowing and raining." xp The weather on the running day was good +15C (59F) and at the moment it was not raining so I wouldn't consider that weather bad yet. Those Finns who go for jogging in staggering -30C (-22F) are bit crazy even in my book.

Sindeira Ahh, thank you so much. ^-^ And I'm pleased that the two of you had such a lovely time together. But might you explain how to play crown and anchor? Because, to be quite honest, I've never heard of it before. Well there is a wheel that displays an assortment of spade, diamond, heart, club, crown and anchor combinations. Then there are four boards in front of players with diamond, heart, spade, club, crown and lastly, anchor. You put bets down on any of them you wish to bet on, and if the wheel lands on the combination of symbols you bet on, your prize money doubles. Funny enough, they usually have the game in church bizarres. That's where I started playing it when I was still going to a catholic church back in my home town.
